  1. I wouldn’t think so . The offshore stuff doesn’t seem to get started until mid-late may
  2. There is almost zero private land on Chilhowee lake. In fact it may be absolutely zero
  3. I wouldn’t be so certain, every piece of electronics and computers I’ve been around breaks at some point. I had an interesting conversation with a TVA guy once. Apparently there will always be a need for someone handy with math and a slide rule in this region because every single TVA dam is unique (and he might have even said every turbine is unique). They can’t just get a new one made at a factory, they have to design it themselves every single time they fix something. But they have a top notch highly paid staff and their math is solid to say the least. They have to do it all using old school methods but their methods are “dam” good (see what I did there)?
  4. How else would I be able to find the sweet spot in all this? I can find it by smell while blindfolded
  5. I already waded in shorts in the smokies once. But there have been days since then that I probably couldn’t have done that, it depends on air temp and sunshine more than water temp for me . I can wade in 55 degree water in shorts as long as the air temp is like 70 or above. On the other hand, 60 degree water can feel frigid if the air temp is only 60 and it’s cloudy
  6. Eh, they are all going to leak if you use them heavily. You should be able to get some for $75 bucks or so that work well. I honestly don’t think brand is important
  7. Neoprene is too hot for me, I’d go breathable
  8. Yeah I’ve never even walked on ice but I can live vicariously....... looks like open water is imminent!!!
  9. I’m guessing the people telling me the story didn’t get close enough
  10. I think we need to put some sled legs under your canoe and make it an ice fishing snowmobile
  11. But How can you learn how to take apart a carb without taking apart a carb? I say practice on a cheap lawn mower first haha.
  12. ^much better wording. @Fishlegs, I have seen dead largemouth that accidentally tried to swallow a bluegill tail first so yes prey fish can kill them sometimes. But if they swallow any fish head first the fins fold down
  13. It’s the act of removal if I had to guess. Torquing their throat inside out and what not
  14. Ironically, lake fork is on the Sabine River
  15. It should certainly help!
  16. I’ve always been taught that as well but people insist on digging hooks out thanks for tangible info as always
  17. Those are the main river lakes. The tributary lakes like Douglas Norris and Cherokee fluctuate 30 feet every year (and Fontana goes up and down 40 feet) Good luck! It’s a crap shoot just about anyway you slice it
  18. Smack him around a little, show him who’s boss
  19. Well played
  20. Yes. A 1.5 lb bass is extremely crucial. The weights will be low, it’s tough. Some folks make a massive long run all the way to Houston or something?? Mostly shallow grass fishing with stumps and logs
  21. Thankfully I live in a part of the state with minimal wind and rarely fish wide open water
