  1. I've heard of several cases in fresh water as well and the guy that died in Texas was perfectly healthy with a good immune system and no wounds
  2. Nice one man!
  3. Negative, except maybe a mile or so up once from Anderson county Park. It had an algae bloom or something so we turned around. I fit in well at a madhouse...... The smallmouth jump like crazy there
  4. Haha, had to go back in the archives to find a picture of the long A. I think that was early October 2016 or 17 on the french broad River. At daylight it sounds like largemouth sucking in frogs but it's smallmouth busting shad. A similar sound that I hear at daybreak when I camp on your lake at PT. 19 in June and July
  5. Always remember what we think looks good underwater might not be what a fish thinks looks good
  6. Just keep practicing and you can be a ambidextrous dog walker! Haha. I have some RH baitcasters and some LH baitcasters, I like both
  7. Baitcaster with 12 -15 lb mono. Sometimes 20 lb
  8. Absolutely! It’s almost that time of year for me when they start chasing threadfin on the surface every morning and will chew the paint off of those plugs. The predictable crazy action usually ends by 8:30 or 9 but they will continue to hit it all day if you are willing to wait a lot longer between strikes. I also like waking a bone colored bomber long A in addition to the big walking baits. I see a lot of shad cutting a v when fleeing so it makes sense in My mind anyway. Sometimes the fish also agree
  9. I have a dock on a similar sounding lake. In summer I have best luck setting a minnow trap and catching shiners or using a fly rod to obtain small bluegill. Circle hook, throw it out and set the rod in a holder. Then I cast a swimbait and worm around while watching the set line. In winter I can catch all kinds of stuff. Summer seems to be largemouth and smallmouth with an occasional white bass or yellow perch . I have been working and swimming more than fishing last few trips down there and still caught these
  10. Haha. I loved watching Barry Sanders as well as mega Tron . Lions really weren't bad about 2-4 years ago, they got mildly jobbed out of the playoffs by the boys in stripes I feel like. Don't give up on them, ive been a Cubs fan since about 1990 and they somehow broke the curse
  11. I thought I heard tale of 30+ bags from Simcoe
  12. Im also in the camp of location being the first variable I change. If they aren't biting the black worm 1/4 oz Texas rig you described, then I will just keep throwing it because I know it works basically 365 days a year!
  13. Yester years tournament anglers would shudder at the fact that he displays what he is using and how he does it to the whole world via the Internet. As it turns out, he is just better at fishing than most people on the planet and trying to beat him at his own game doesn't work. I really like and respect that about Wheeler. On a much smaller scale, I always have a couple buddies that think I'm crazy for posting fish pics on forums, but the wealth of friends and information I have acquired from the forums is something I really enjoy (thanks @Glenn). Therefore I really don't care what they think and my catch rates have gone up instead of down
  14. I've been following his YouTube channel since about the time he started it I guess. Some of my buddies get annoyed with all the giggling and off the water jazz, and I suppose I could see that, but I really like it most of the time. There's always fast forward if you don't like watching them rate sushi restaurants from 1-10! Dustin connell also cracks me up in a lot of the wheeler videos, and now he has his own channel too
  15. Excellent information! Those of us that watch your videos know they like to swim that bait back to the boat really fast because you are always cranking the ole winch handle for all she's got after you set the hook! I thoroughly enjoy watching the swinghead hooksets!
  16. Wheelers YouTube channel is way better than tv coverage. Uh.... DING!!!! Congrats to him for out fishing the competition by a mile in the weirdest world championship I have ever witnessed
  17. All you've gotta do is get some dry ice and ship the fillets to my front step! Although I haven't eaten an 8+ lb fish in quite some time . Striper salmon and halibut are the only ones that come to mind
  18. I mentioned it on another thread, this isn't the first time we've seen this from martens. Watch the Louisiana Delta classic that KVD won , the day that square bill sales skyrocketed
  19. Where at in NW Ohio? My girlfriend is from somewhere near hamler, I'll be up that way next month
  20. I would go for catfish to accomplish that one
  21. You get ettiquitte points when you lay your head down at night. I'm not saying the guy always follows around and tries to copy people, just saying he will never win that way , we've seen it fail twice on the biggest stage. Honestly I wouldn't even be proud if I won that way. Then again I would never do it in the first place
  22. I would say they are at fault just based on ettiquitte . Nobody likes getting rolled up on like that, wheeler sure didn't. Aaron martens will always be second place if he just keeps following whoever is in first and trying to copy them. That's exactly what he did to KVD in the classic on the Louisiana Delta
