  1. Since I was shut out a few times this yr, noting has been perfect, including me ?
  2. A common problem, especially with folks getting used to the bait. You are going to kill some fish, but birds need to eat too. That said, I keep a couple spinning rods with 10lb braid on the boat for this situation. A weighted wacky rig falling like a pendulum on semi slack line will show better line and Tim movement. Remember, swing are free and swing for the fences. Owner wacky rig weighted hooks work great for roof of the mouth sets
  3. I did and it us between that an an 18 impact that is being priced out as I type......one way or the other, I suspect that 1 will be in my driveway this weekend
  4. Folks, I am getting ready to sign for an '18 lund impact 1875ss. The one in stock has everything I need but has the 115 HP. My question is for those that might have this boat, is it it enough. The difference in price between the 115 and 150 buys nice electronics and trolling motor, ect. If the 150 is a must have, I could make it work. I realize Noone has ever complained about having to much power. Thanks,Al
  5. I did this^ for a few yrs, then started closing the bail as I was getting gut hooked fish. I found that minor equipment changes and using the pendulum effect increased my hookup ratio and avoided the gut. The BC just helps me be more accurate. Truth be told, I usually have some weight on my senkos. A weighted WR has really performed well this summer
  6. Far more abrasion resistant and more user friendly
  7. I have found blue label to be one of the better leaders.
  8. I believe a spinning rod has a place in everyone's locker, especially with the lightest of baits especially drops hot and weightless 4" senkos. I do prefer the feel of casters, but there is always a spinning setup with a senko for the times I miss one on a CB or top water and need to get something out asap
  9. I have a ci4 on an e6x swimbait rod and it works great. I don't throw anything bugger than 2 oz
  10. Folks, While the pro V is my dream boat, reality is that impact may the better family decision. This caught my attention and an open to input on price and options along with anything else I would need I have an appointment this weekend to look at new boats. Thanks for any input Al https://nh.craigslist.org/boa/d/2014-lund-1875-impact-sport/6261722920.html
  11. I don't want to be the guy that says use the search function, but there are dozens of threads on this. If you only want to use 1 knot for most purposes, the improved uni is it Side note....most knots tied properly will work. Find one that you can tie in your sleep with mittens one after having a couple beers..
  12. It sounds like a Jon boat would fit the bill but I have seen deals on Craigslist that might allow you to get more boat for the money, but 1000.00 doesn't give you much room. I have seen some used kayaks that are bug enough to stand on.
  13. That area holds just about everything. I know guys that we there last weekend. Nothing big but average size sm,LM, trout and salmon. Not sure about water levels as there have been little rain.
  14. Mine encourages me to go all the time and wants me to buy the boat I now want. Makes me think she knows I'm dying.....
  15. I see a lot of crestliners on my lake they have a fan base. It would not be a wrong decision. I have a Lund dealer 45 minutes away, so I suspect my next one will be a Lund.
  16. Yesterday I was on the fish. I could see them and they were good sized. Hell I could have netted a few. NOTHING worked! As a last ditched effort, the wackyrig with 4 inch senko comes out and put 1 in the boat. Still seeing a lot of suspended fish at 15-18 ft
  17. This is a timely thread as I need to pick up 2 more reels. One will be for a worm/ jig bottom contact rod where long cast are involved. For this I am thinking an 8. The other will be for a multi purpose rod and I am thinking 7. I fish on the slow side, so 6 is as slow as I go and that's for CB. The funny thing is that I know you can fish to fast, but I don't think you can slow to slow. If I had to recommend 1 speed for everything, it would be a 6. On a side note, the length of a handle can really change your cadence.
  18. Life isn't just about fishing.....at least after fishing...
  19. If you are catching fish, who cares! I think I have learned more about other techniques on slow days, when I am throwing everything in the arsenal. Today was one of this days, and am starting to figure out my buzz baits
  20. Anything other than 7 or 7.2 just feels foreign to me
  21. NHBull replied to Quarry Man's topic in Fishing Tackle
20 degrees heal to toe is taught in chef school can't speak to hooks, as I just buy new ones. When it doubt us a sharpie to mark before sharpening. When the color is gone your done. There is also no downside in leaving a hairy point/edge, it drops off when first touched Edit..just watched Bob's video and I think folks are talking about the same thing with regards to knives. I would call his technique heal to toe. He does not use that language
  22. Howdy.....from your northern neighbor ?
  23. I try to be out at dusk around full moon nights. I only throw jigs and top waters and have great luck, but too have my best SM on sunny or rainny days. My best LM was at 10:00 AM with blue bird skies
  24. 832 is my choice since it sinks better than a lot of the competition
