  1. The hooks on the 110 are fine and seldom miss a hooked fish
  2. Thinking of using it for jerks, light spinners, and mid size surface
  3. I am getting a GLX MBR 843 this Winter to fill in some holes in my quiver
  4. It really depends on the rod. My GLX MH JWR is spot on. My deep divers e6x has a sweet spot on the upper end and my e6x M JWR is best on the lighter side
  5. Additionally you can spool the second with different line for different needs. Since you purchased 2, you must think you need 2, that said your second could be a CB rod
  6. I too live in bear country......got them in my back yard and have never witnessed aggressive behavior, that said, when I don't have my shield on my hip, the 1911 is under my arm. If you think bear spray, it's usually to late. Side Note: Troopers carry "bear" loads for shotguns......just big noise makers.....can't recall a Trooper having to shoot anything after that
  7. When I go off sure or need weight without wanting to add a weight, the superline Gammy is the choice. This summer I landed several 45" strippers and never bent one.......should be good for 5 lb bass
  8. ^^^^^this, if you could only afford 1 rod. I do like the feel of the JWR for jigs/worms on longer cast and the benifits of not having to retie justifies the price for me.
  9. 832, smackdown, Gamma Torque
  10. I have had back luck with the kvd mustad......the quality (imho) is not as nearly as good as the Gammy's and owners. For what you mentioned, I use the owner 36's and 35's
  11. October is more likely, but the heavy wind and very cold nights have dropped my lake by 7 degrees in a week
  12. Fish will start heading shallow to feed prior to Winter and the lake will start to turn over. This can raise hell, but last yr, fall was fantastic in the NE
  13. Lookin' good
  14. You do not need a baitcaster. Many spinning guys are just as accurate with their set up. That said, I am not and prefer casters for all but the lightest of techniques. I also feel more comfortable with a thumb release over a finger.......but a caster is just a different tool
  15. I tried both and the e6x just felt better in hand. I have 3 and am very happy....There isn't a wrong decision here!
  16. One of my buddies is a 2 trick pony, Poppers and wacky. He spent a great deal of the Summer watching everyone else put fish in the boat. He was brought up that way from his father and now realizes it is time to broaden his foundation. Learn more now or latter, it is easier when your young
  17. It's fine, regardless of whether it is a spin g set up or casting. You will find that there are a lot of guys here using 30+ braid here, but experiment for yourself. The break strength of most braid is significantly higher than the rated strength and properly set drags go a long way in saving your line. Many here will also use straight braid, I do for top waters and some swimmers and have never broke braid that rub on something rough, as the abrasion resistance is low. Have fun and find out for yourself what works. Most of my braids are 10 and 20 pound
  18. I am really glad you posted this. To often we forget about the sacrifices our family make. I think in many cases, the wifes/ mom's have it harder emotionally than the servicemen. Thanks you for supporting you man!
  19. NHBull replied to TOXIC's topic in Tournament Talk
Recently I have met a few retired tournament fishermen.....guys who got checks for a few years, and have to say they have been fun and very helpful now that they are not competiting. I have learned a lot this summer, just having coffee with them
  20. Unless you try everything I don't think you can find your strengths. Over the years a jig and worms got me through most situations, This Summer a CB and jerk got my better fish. Forcing myself to use a technique for a period of time, really facilitates learning My comfort zone is Jig, Worms CB Jerks Surface Those cover most of what I do and makes up for my uncomfortable techniques.....which I will work on next yr
  21. Thanks for sharing and congrats!
  22. We don't heal like we used to and it is good to hear your good to go. 2 yrs ago I tore my quad off my knee. It had to be reattach and in doing so, the VMO tore. It's been over 2 yrs and it is as good as it is going to get. Let's say, no more kneeling at church. I think many of us are going to pay for living hard.......
  23. Thanks Gents It's between the GLX MBR 843c and the GLX MBR 783c Everything I own is an or over 7", the 6'6" concerns me as I would make this a multipurpose setup
  24. Yes and like it a lot, but I have not noticed a big enough difference to spend the extra $$$$
