  1. Just got an update that mine will show up today. Not bad considering I ordered them Tuesday. You know it’s winter and the fishing is done for a few months when a guy checks on shipping progress for rubber bands for his crankbaits. ?
  2. I just have the Tatula CT 100. I’m more of a budget guy and found them on sale this summer so I snagged one. It’s a really nice reel for the price. I have mine on a 7’ MH rod with a softer tip. I don’t know if that’s the right pairing (I probably should go shorter) but that’s what I learned on, and it’s a multipurpose setup, and I don’t really know any different.
  3. Good write up sir, I really enjoyed that! As for me I’m a mess of 2-4. I’ve been at it enough years that just catching a bunch of little bass doesn’t seem to do it, but I’m not consistently catching bass every trip out so I don’t feel I’ve ‘earned’ the right of passage to stage three. Stage four, I do a ton of reading on here and learn new tips, tricks, and techniques and I go out and say “I’m going to catch them this way today” and I mostly stick to that technique for that day which I’m sure isn’t the best idea. As I’ve mentioned quite often on here I’m trying so hard to get off shore and fish structure but when the skunk starts creeping towards my boat I quick head for the bank (which I want to quit that habit) so it’s not necessarily stage four but a modified stage 4, it’s a ‘I want to catch them the way I know how’. This is my biggest hurdle. I won the Senko battle, I’ll win the bank beating battle too. I intentionally left stage five out of the beginning. I’m a father of a ten year old son so of course I’m at stage five as well. I enjoy teaching him about fishing and I enjoy watching him catch bass. He loves learning from Jacob Wheeler on YouTube and a couple others. It’s a cool moment when we’re fishing along and he’s points out a lay down and he lets me know that we need to pitch the deepest part of the lay down first then work shallower. I do a double take like “where did that come from?” Things like that makes my lost progress well worth it. I didn’t hunt this year because I took him out and he harvested his very first deer and we don’t need anymore meat than that. I was perfectly fine with that because I enjoyed seeing him get his first deer and the reaction and look after pulling the trigger and seeing the deer go down is a helluva lot better than me doing it. I’m not fully satisfied with my progression through this bass fishing venture but that’s just me. I guess it’s a good thing because it keeps pushing me to learn more, follow through, and figure this thing out! This venture over the decades has been fun, heartbreaking (the one that got away), maddening, expensive, and very rewarding! I’m glad I caught the bug at such a young age.
  4. Get a Tatula. I did this year because everyone recommended one. That gave me the confidence to actually make a real attempt at skipping. I watched a video Brian Latimore put out about skipping docks then I went out on my dock and stuck with it until I got it. That’s all I did for 2-3 hours over two nights was just skip off from my dock. Of course I had backlashes but not terrible. After getting it down pat I switched to a cheaper reel and I was skipping no problem. That being said I know the Tatula was the key to keeping mistakes to a minimum while getting the muscle memory. Mark Zona said on his show once you get it figured out, this is something you need to keep doing even if it’s just practice or you’ll your accuracy. We’ll see what happens when the ice melts. Hope this helps.
  5. I did the Amazon deal that night. Delivery said Sunday so not too bad.
  6. The wife woke me up at 5:30 asking where the shovel was because we got a fluffy 5” of snow and the Pugs wouldn’t leave the front porch. So up I got to shovel a landing pad for Pug poop. I guess I got a nice early morning workout in. We’re supposed to get another 1-2” of snow with a mix of rain throughout the day. Next week we’re looking at a possibility of mid to upper 40’s.
  7. Follow the white Triton that has Academy Sports plastered on the side of it. ?
  8. Mrs. 12poundbass, myself, and 6poundbass headed out to Hobby Lobby looking for @A-Jay‘s infamous rubber bands. We looked all over the place and stumbled upon this... 6poundbass and I got a kick out of it! We checked two stores, no rubber bands the right size.
  9. ^^^^ This Your picture is sideways because you didn’t turn your phone sideways. Turn it counter clockwise next time and you’ll be good.
  10. The single guys bought them. ?
  11. I somehow missed this post, thanks for sharing!
  12. I thought I read it was a different John Cox
  13. Only a dusting of snow for us down here. My lake has been completely froze for a week or two now and this morning I noticed I nice grown crack starting in front of our dock and running about 300’. There are a couple other growth cracks new this morning, so she’s making ice. The lake across the road from ours is still 80% open. With the warm up the next few days the ice production will probably slow down a bit which won’t disappoint me. 90-100 days until open water doesn’t sound too bad considering how fast this year flew by!
  14. I’m sure wives caught their husbands order and made them cancel them. Poor guys!
  15. That was pretty funny. I can see him doing that quite often.
  16. Good advice Tom that I need to employ. Thank you!
  17. Our female pug Lola has an ear that’s always sticking up in a different way when she wakes up. We call it her ‘bed head’.
  18. I’m a follower not a leader, so I mimic the pros and say “big un” or “giant” as soon a I feel the tap or see my line move. My accuracy in predicting the size while setting the hook is on par with their predictions so I have that going for me! ??
  19. Tracker is far from superior. They’re a good boat, but you’re limited to how you can order. I’ve never owned a Lund or Lowe, from where other brands stand out from Tracker is quality of material used, layouts, and fit and finish of the boat. You can’t go wrong with a Tracker, there’s just better boats out there.
  20. Check out the Vexus AVX181. It’s a mod-v and at the top of your budget but worth a look. I’ve read the the build prices are a bit higher than the actual price.
  21. You are correct that you can not order Tracker boats to your liking. You can change outboard sizes and that’s it. Do you have any Lund, G3, or Vexus dealers in your area? These brands are of good quality and should have something in your size and price range.
  22. My lake is frozen, the sun rarely shows itself nowadays, temperatures are bitter, so I was very pleased to see the new season of Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show starts tomorrow at noon! Now if only we can get lucky and he filmed a 26 episode season....a guy can wish can’t he?
  23. The motive should be the news. This is ‘new’ so to speak and the infrastructure is caught with their pants down.
  24. I placed and order Wednesday and it went through quicker that it ever has.
