  1. That's interesting. Could explain such good bass fishing in northern tier states that have large pike and muskie populations. @A-Jay's photos seem to illustrate this notion.
  2. Future BR member for sure!
  3. Citica I is a great reel. I've got a JDM Scorpion 200 (same reel) and other than the occasional brake noise thing (another subject) it's my go to for heavier work. You can find them around $100 on the bay.
  4. Take a look at some of the KastKing stuff. Several guys like the Assassin.
  5. I can't remember, was Old Man and the Sea autobiographical? Seems unrealistic that one could handline a big marlin. By the way, welcome to the forums and if it was a joke, well I guess I took the bait.
  6. Welcome. My sister and brother in law live in London. I can't imagine big walleye being considered invasive.
  7. I've caught a bunch on my 1-Minuses. Played around with different hook combinations but have fits keeping them apart.
  8. Which reinforces the notion that bass populations shouldn't get out of hand. Again the mystery in all this is that lakes that are dominated by smaller bass still produce dinks that are not starving (at least in my locations).
  9. Here's a riddle: Why would a body of water ever get overpopulated with stunted bass from lack of harvest? If bass eat their own kind wouldn't they keep their own population in check? Or is stunting resultant from some other factor. Most "dink factories" I know of produce mainly small but well fed bass. Go figure.
  10. The new Lightning Rods are a whole different animal than past versions. Look close and you'll see their relationship to Fenwick HMG's. Same parent company.
  11. I use it on one of my spinning spools simply to indicate it's my 8 lb. Fades to near white which actually helps me with visibility.
  12. These and Chronarch D's still fetch big $$. Great old reels. Thought the palm side bearing setup was nifty.
  13. Big weather pattern change coming Thur. Can't speak for northern IN lakes but small neighborhood lakes in central IN have been picking up. Hopeful the big shift will really get things going. Too early for turnover.
  14. Hi, and welcome aboard. Just a question. Did you learn under fishing conditions? To this day I find it a challenge to throw into a breeze with something bulky. I'm a bit stubborn about tightening up my tension, though.
  15. Had a good evening catching several decent bass and this guy on a weightless wacky stick worm. Gave this old man a real workout.
  16. Had a very cool experience while fishing one of the HOA lakes close to me this evening. Was privileged to witness a bald eagle circle then swoop down and catch what appeared to be about a foot long shad. Reminded me of the old Eagle Claw commercials.
  17. Just a heads up. Japanese Yen is 113 to the dollar right now. That means JDM stuff is getting cheaper. Example: Shimano Bantam MGL can be had on Digitaka for under $257.00 shipped.
  18. It caught my interest but in reality I'm real happy with my Cabela's house brand rods. I'm sure I would have had all Loomis if they had better ergos. I think it was @fishnkampthat showed a custom handle redo on one. It had Winn Grips and a palm swell reel seat.
  19. Most of my casting rods are Loomis GL3's and IMX. I just don't care for the reel seats on the spinning series. Very uncomfortable to me. They basically haven't changed for many years.
  20. Those *** bushings that caused so much debate earlier this year made me want to try them. Put a pair in my Chronarch MGL and I have to admit they beat anything I've ever tried. Quiet too. Don't know about durability yet.
  21. I rarely use a leader but one thing I notice is that the leader tag is pointing towards the rod tip. Seems like that might make problems during the cast. The occasional leader knot I use is the Alberto because it finishes facing back.
  22. Caught the storm drain bite again today after the rain. Have no idea how many I caught but many were 3-4 lbs. These events really spoil you.
  23. I guess I'm not the only crazy person here. Could care less what I wear but wouldn't dare mix up my rods and reels.
  24. The 3000 has a T handle. The 2500 has the same knob as a Curado 70. I find it a bit small. I changed out my FA's with PG II septons (BNT 4240) a long time ago. They feel very comfortable.
