  1. Don't trash it. Hang on to it as a keepsake. Not much $$ value but worth more than that.
  2. Bass eat anything that moves (except for my lure half the time). Don't be too concerned with color matching species.
  3. World record is 7lb. 6oz. Yours is like catching a DD bass. Good job.
  4. I can only imagine how hard that fish pulled.
  5. Dodged those storms this morning and had great action between running to my car to stay alive (lots of lightning north of Indy). What was refreshing was a stiff breeze and 70 temps. Always gets hot around Labor Day. I remember Labor Days being chilly.
  6. Lb. ratings are very subjective. 18 lb. Gliss is smaller than 10 lb. Power Pro. Diameter should be the determining factor. .15-.20 mm dia. is perfect.
  7. I use straight braid with a Fishn' Fool knot which is a two eye loop uni. Figured out how to save tag waste by pushing the knot up to the tag before I draw it up. Cuts my excess down to an inch or two.
  8. Believe it or not this reel along with a few others started the transition to our modern low profile baitcasters.
  9. I use 30 lb. Sufix 832 on my casting rigs. Braid has basically no stretch and at least for me, is easier to untangle any backlashes. Fluoro stretches as much as nylon at first then takes a set. A lot of guys prefer fluoro but I think it has too many drawbacks. JMHO
  10. Need to wake this thread up. Fished in a downpour this evening with good results. Got thoroughly soaked but the fish didn't care. (They were already wet). Caught several fun size on a Rippin' Rap. Action slowed as the rain persisted or I just got cold and inattentive.
  11. The green collars have a bigger footprint to create more braking.
  12. I'm finding myself accidentally walking right up on bass hanging out under the bank in muskrat holes. Do you have a lot of that? One can almost step through as the pond edge is really compromised.
  13. If that reel could only talk.....
  14. Tired of waiting with you. I'm going fishing. Helping a customer of mine set up a new outfit (not Quantum).
  15. I prefer to use rods under 6'6" because I don't like to feel tip weight. The perfect rod (spinning and casting) practically "floats" at the tip when I'm holding the rod as I would while retrieving. Makes it much easier on my wrist during the day.

Not that they're my favorite but I would say Berkley because they would cover hard baits and soft plastics. Edit; I forgot to include Strike King. Probably would go with them.
  17. Don't lip Mr. Esox.
  18. I'd say '78.
  19. To fish I presume.
  20. Single hooks. Barbless hooks. Quicker hooksets with soft plastics. It doesn't matter. As much as I try, it's a crap shoot when a bass with his breathing apparatus fully exposed inhales a lure. I do use forceps rather than pliers because they're more precise. I'm convinced they don't feel pain.
  21. Agreed. I've been catching a lot of fish this season on a fairly pricey wakebait. It occurred to me while retrieving it that it's just a jitterbug that isn't quite on the surface.
  22. Really don't think the OP was trying to put the razz on anybody. I'm always tempted to show off when people are around but then I think "Do I really want to be tipping my hand?
  23. Got out this morning and had some good action with t-rigged Hula Stickz and Zara Spook Puppy just for fun. Caught two 3 lb.r's and one 4 in addition to several smaller. Strikes on the Spook can be deceiving in that they sometimes just suck it in like it's a big bug. My 4 hit that way. Also, managed a couple of wades earlier this past week. Fished Sugar Creek just south of me. It's an easier wade than most due largely to it's sand streambed. I have trouble anymore dealing with uneven rock areas because of an ankle issue. Didn't catch any bigs but there's no comparing the experience to fishing the neighborhood lakes I frequent. Lots of peace and quiet and the whole nature thing.
