  2. Cooler weather lovin' some stout, and a local brewery favorite for me.
  3. Ha!!! Believe me I'm no Dirk Diggler. It's an inside joke with my wife, she's a great friend of ours and I always joke it's like having 2 wives
  4. Turned 70 this year and still able to fish and camp, actually more this past year since I also retired this year. Wife and girlfriend not too happy bout me camping by myself ? I'm fishing freshwater more the last couple years after mostly fishing the salt up here. All fishing done from my kayak, this year from Cape May NJ to Salem MA. I work out 6 days a week, watch what I eat, though I do enjoy some beer on the weekend.
  5. Well here’s one I can respond to, since I can only think of one off hand. The moron moment one I didn’t want to bore ya’ll with a 10 chapter tome starting with 5 years old through to 70. There was a small kayak tournament on one of the NY City reservoirs, I’d been just fishing saltwater and hadn’t done any freshwater fishing in years. I brought a bunch of plastic jigs and some small plugs. As I was packing for the trip I found an old box of Mepps spinners which I hadn’t used in 20 years but figured what the heck. After hrs of fishing with not much to show for it, I figured what do I have to lose and tied on a Mepps. Well, that was the ticket and I was able to get over 15 smallmouths and managed to place 2nd in the tournament, just was a last minute decision to bring that box, saved the day.
  6. Last batch of the Christmas cookies deserves a great beer. Whole family affair making Struffoli, I'm the fry master for them, 7 people rolling and cutting em up. 7. As a kayak angler I like NDYakAngler the best. Low key, just fishing, and no hard pushing products, he just tells you what he's using, no reminders to subscribe. Plus he's fishing some really beautiful areas up in North Dakota and Minnesota. Makes me envious being here in New Jersey. One of the comments was he is the Bob Ross of fishing ? I put them on while working out.
  8. Don't eat White Castle Jalapeno burgers the night before you go out on your kayak ?
  9. Delaware River campsite from the NJ side
  10. I got the 8" mini bolt cutters, saltwater kayaking by myself for Bluefish, Stripers etc wanted to be sure I could cut one off if needed with the least amount of effort. I've tested them on 4x VMC trebles and they cut them right off. They would cut any freshwater bass hook like butter. Thankfully I've never needed them on water. https://www.amazon.com/ARES-70664-8-Inch-Mini-Bolt-Cutter/dp/B07BWW8YQF/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1E51J8GV4XOU&keywords=ares+70664-8-inch+mini+bolt+cutter&qid=1649985296&sprefix=ARES+70664-8-Inch+Mini+Bolt+Cutter%2Caps%2C61&sr=8-2
  11. Thanks for the heads up, put my order in last night and hopefully they still had them in stock.
  12. Thanks guys for the tips, it confirms what I was thinking. I've gotten back to freshwater fishing after many years of fishing the salt. I'm thinking I would need a fast tip to work the bait, but as Bankc mentioned medium action with the smaller trebles and lighter line. Good excuse to stop by my local shop that is a Daiwa dealer. Thanks once again!
  13. Looking for input from anyone fishing jerkbaits from a kayak. After reading about all the catches that have been made using jerkbaits, I figure I should start using them too. I’d be using a spinning rod probably paired with a Pflueger Supreme 30 spooled with Suffix 832 10lb test. I would be sitting in my kayak all the time, no standing. Also, not looking at spending over a 120$ I’m looking for length and action that has been used by guys. Watching videos and guys fishing from boats, it looks like most use a downward motion when working them, not sure that would work for me.
