  1. Well the Monkey works in mysterious ways, 60 years of paying him he has graciously paid me back. Actually not exactly as he's channeled through Glenn and BR to send me these! Many thanks to Glenn and the whole BR team.
  2. Free here in New Jersey for me being over 70. Saltwater registration if free for everyone. 50$ for a non-resident New York license
  3. Interesting conversation, Bankc brought up musicians and having been one myself we always talked about having the "feel". The consensus was usually you either had or ya didn't. I have a good friend who so wanted to be a musician, he has taken lessons for years from really great teachers and just doesn't have the "feel" The thing is he also likes to fish, he can catch some if put on them, but again just doesn't have the "feel". So, is there a intuitive factor involved? Obviously time on the water is important, but I'll end this rambling with this; How did Mozart write his first symphony while only 8 years old?
  4. Life long Joisey guy, fish most of the lakes, reservoirs and rivers here and some up in NY state. Also have this rather large body of water off the shore here, though not fishing that as much as I used to. Been restricted to kayak fishing now for 20 years after having various boats from 12' to 23'. Cracked me up when I went up to the Adirondacks and saw the the ponds up there were bigger than most of the lakes here 😀
  5. I learned that I had a lot to learn getting back into freshwater after many years of just saltwater fishing.
  6. Plastics restock from TW, unpainted 1/8 and 1/4 round heads and 1/4 unpainted football jigs from an Ebay seller.
  7. Haven't had this in quite awhile, it did not disappoint
  8. Thanksgiving beers, one from a local brewery and an old standby colder weather beer.
  9. Had the first frost, second removal of leaves from the back yard. Cause for Celebration, not that I ever need any reason 😛
  10. Dakota Lithium Batteries are on sale it looks like to 10/31. I was checking for a friend who said he needed a new battery for his kayak, so I sent him the link for the one I use. 12 volt 10 amp, marked down from 99$ to 69$, other ones have similar markdowns
  11. What garroyo130 said if your adventurous, you can get the schematics online for your model. Personally I hate taking apart Shimano's, I think it was on Alan Tani's site that said there spinning reels were a dollar a part 😛 I could only find one partial breakdown video on a quick search online. If you go ahead and take it apart take pictures and put the parts in order that you take them out. Good luck and don't wind up with a basket case, don't ask how I know!
  12. Nights now in the 40's, daytime highs in the 60's
  13. Browsing through Dicks during the last of the rain hopefully, I came upon these; 3 for 15$
  14. Yes it is! Also challenging up there with all the boats on moorings, holding the rod in one hand while paddling with the other is quite interesting while getting pulled into the lines.
  15. Got back from a trip to Massachusetts, we've been going up there as a group camping and kayak fishing now for 15 years. The number of fish caught this year wasn't as great as years past, but the size was the best we've had. One day was a complete blow out with 20 to 30 kt winds and driving rain. The following day was calm, I had 10 fish, 2@33", 1@35" and my biggest ever up there at 41" the rest were in the mid 20's This was my first trip this year in the brine I guess it's ok to post here, they are a kinda of bass, and it was recent ?
  16. Well after not being able to get out for a little while, a friend invited me and my son to a private lake up in North Jersey. Not sure about the rest of the country but here many of the lakes are private communities. Anyway, we launched our kayaks at 9:00am, and it took a couple of hrs to find some willing participants. I forgot my depthfinder so I was a little lost for a while as I’m always checking for drop offs etc, this lake though has a max depth of around 14 ft, water visibility was around 2 ft. Finally was able to find em on the shady sides of docks and pontoon boats. Wound up with 6 Largemouths, 6 Smallmouths and one Sunfish. All throwing a wacky worm and 3” Keitech Swing Impact on a 1/8 jighead. Sizes went from 6” to 18”
