  1. man that's a tough question. go feel them ask them to put it on a rod feel balance. getting 2 reels for the price of one, or go for a little more quality?. I do know for an extra $24 you can get a stx, love mine. but I also respect these other gentlemens years of experience and knowlage of the products that work for them. good luck with your choice, do what feels right for you. heck you can always sell them or trade up.

  5. as to time wise. my step dad used to tell me. if your wife ask you to do something, mess it up as bad as you can. she will never ask you to do it again!. for the financial side. write a letter to your congressman , heck they seem to want to finance everything else. if this works let me know, ill do the same,LOL

welcome from Indiana. always glad to here and read from someone with great experience. hope you get your boat fixed ,no fun working on it instead of fishing from it. best of luck and tight lines this year.
  8. interesting thoughts and perspectives. and a hard question to answer. I do know in certain lakes I fish one color may be better than another even on the same bait. and a couple of the lakes may only be a mile or so apart. with similar vegetation in and around them both .as to why I cant honestly say. just did notice the difference by experimentation. your guys info is appreciated, good reading! I wish I had the answer to everything , maybe my wallet would be a little thicker, and then I could get some more new gear! LOL
  9. THATS A HAPPY HAPPY B. DAY . P. S. send here up here my bass seen pic and fell in love
  10. this all sounds depressing. YUCK! maybe florida mike will buy us all plane tickets to tropical FLA. skoot over ,how many does your boat hold!! LOL
  11. I to like both. did like DARENS comment on can of worms . for me personally. with a bait caster I believe I have better control as for placement of the bait.

  13. welcome from Indiana . I have brother and cousin that lives on lay lake just south of you .the big slabs are coming!! ill be down there soon to help try to lower the water level by pulling some of my own out.
  14. theses guys have given you great info, some times your eyes and ears are your best weapon. do you here bass hitting, if so where? what do you see around the bank in the the way of structure or food. frogs, blue gill, crayfish, small hatchlings, etc...? the old saying match the hatch. you are doing the right thing, reading asking questions and trying to learn. its called dedication, sounds like you have it. we all get skunked some days. that's ok. you are still learning, and hey guess what you got to fish. that beats work any day. hang in there best of luck to you this year, don't forget to show us that big lady I'm sure you will get.
  15. worst I ever seen .wont even waist my time on 84 lumber one. super bowl is supposed to be fun. and we have grown to expect that out of there commercials. and fact is if they are we remember who put them out.thought that was there goal. then maybe the networks are getting to gready on price. was a great game tho. congrats to both teams.
  16. find deeper brush ,or if fishing a river system find big turn in river that has deep side they might be schooled up waiting for bait to wash into them.
  17. I believe I got a couple of those kind too. they are so flexable ,I don't even think a blue pill would help them
  18. I really like my abu revo stx .also used my cousins same reel , which is a few years old now. still works perfect has never give him any issues. found mine on sale for $124 free shipping.
  19. NICE FIFSH!!!! sounds like a great trip.to much fun! very jealous. way to go on pb
  20. I'm glad that only pertains to bass. I would hate to feel bad about eating old betsy the cow or Arnold the pig.
  21. sounds like my dad. he loved catching them, any species. but did not care for eating them. he would rather clean then and give them to a neighbor, or the person who owned the pond or lake as a thank you. THANKS for giving me the smile remembering him
  22. one of the most relaxing fufilling sports there is. the pureness of the adventure. the friends you meet. i to believe as you do, there is that something inside you just cant explain, but it is very satisfying and fufilling. we all need a time and place to think. fishing just happens to be one of the best
  23. wonder if the lake has turned over in past few years being that shallow try to find more people that live close to get more info. I would work that point on bottom of map if it has any grade to it at all. are there any small blue gill in there or have you seen any hatchlings ? always heard match the hatch. good luck hope you figure it out, and land one those big ladies
