It is so on! Highs next week are going to be mid 60s to mid 70s depending on where you're at in the state.

Best crankbait for fishing lay downs?
I like using cranks made of wood when fishing laydowns, mainly because they rise quickly after making contact.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
MB lures are no longer packaged in hard boxes. The VR (Viper Red) can still be found in Asian tackle shops, but the Gill Female (SP-C, special color) is no longer in production.

Thoughts on wearing a jersey even if you're not in a competition?
I've never owned a tournament jersey @JFlynn97, but if it feels good when you wear it then by all means wear it. If I was to see you wearing your tournament jersey on the lake, I'd only see an individual who was proud of his team and school. I always wear my "colors" out on the water and have never worried about being called "that guy."

Hang that in the man cave. That's my favorite color in the LC lineup.

Pitching from a kayak
Not at all. My first kayak was an OK Trident, not really made for standing, and pitching while sitting was one skill I really wanted to master. I spent the first winter after acquiring that yak in my kitchen practicing. Every night after the wife and kids went to bed, I grabbed my pitching rod and sat on the floor and pitched for about an hour. The wife would come out the first couple of nights and shake her head and give me that "you're losing it" look, but come spring, I got to where I could consistently hit a 12" square tile at 15-20'. I put a couple of dents on the side of the range, but the nightly practice sessions paid off. I now have a kayak I can stand in, but being able to pitch while in a sitting position is a skill I am glad I mastered.

Fall cranking
Come fall I'm always looking for the shad or other baitfish on the graph. Once I find them I'll select a crank (starting with natural colors) that either runs at that depth or slightly above. Don't rule out the smaller swim/glide baits, they will work too.

FINALLY, COOLER TEMPS
Water temps are starting to slowly fall, 78-80 this morning and the water is beginning to clear up. Caught a couple on the chatter but the frog bite was really good. Really excited about the cooler water temps. I hope its a long fall.

Goals for the winter...
I watched him make the Roman glide bait the other day, (for the 10th or 20th time) he is really good. I now know why those baits cost so much, he puts a lot of time and detail into making those baits. Good luck on yours @DanielG.

Chatterbait
That wasn't my intention, far from it. I don't believe I could have added anything to what was previously said other than encouraging him to keep using the bait. I have never, nor would I ever attempt to make anyone look stupid, here or anywhere. Sorry YOU took it like that.

Chatterbait
Plenty of posts/articles on BR that cover this. The only thing I would add is don't give up. Chatterbaits flat out catch bass. Gaining confidence in a new bait and technique is sometimes the hardest part of bass fishing.

Post a photo a day!
