  4. Well, I ordered some 40 & 50 lb braid and will post back as so as I get it . I will use this reel come hell or high water Thanks to all for helping and putting up with me.
  5. You lost me on the Brakes. No one has looked at my reel but me until today. As far as backing I am guessing you put the mono on first and tied the braid to it? I am going to master this thing before it is over. AS for me I have all 4 pins locked, the magnetic drag screwed down to the max as well as the spool thanks David I half way read your post my bad should have seen the line
  6. What line did you spool it with?
  7. What lb test line would be best not to backlash? If I set the spool tension to let a 1/4 oz jig fall slowly to the ground , it will spool off after it hit the ground.
  8. Try one before you buy one if possible
  9. Well, I tried all evening total fiasco , I got every thing locked down tight still a mess. do you have to thumb the reel all the time?

  12. how do you get the cover off to get to the pins Oh I have watched the videos
  13. Looks like you get too much line on the outer edges of the spool , looks like the middle of the spool needs to be filled first, I don't have a clue

Now what do I need 50# line and a bait caster for? Yawl pros tell me please as some of you know I am an old close face fisherman. Thanks David

Welcome aboard, Man you don't live out in the sticks in bath county VA , here in Charlotte Co VA the sun don't start shinning until after dinner. David
  18. That is true Roger, 5,000 acres of pines right behind my house
  19. We have a lot of fox here in Charlotte Co Virginia, greys by far out number the reds. I have seen a dew cherry red fox, they are very pretty. We even have a lot of bear now, when I was a kid if someone said something about a bear being in a block of woods, it was most likely a moonshine sill. If you have no bears where you live count your blessings they are bad about eating corn fields up. They will set down and eat all the corn they can reach and then get up and move down a bit and do it again. Sweet corn that is just when it id time to pick. David
  20. You may want to try a small crappie jig with a white grub and a yellow grub about 12 inches below it. They seem to like them in Charlotte Co Va this time of year. 8 lb test line at most. It want cost you much and may be a hot lick for you
  21. Yep Mike we better keep it to ourselves The Dogwoods are blooming here in southern Va and the Bass are beginning to spawn
  22. I caught one of the biggest Bass I have ever seen, the lake went down 2 feet when I pulled him in. But the game warden said I better put it back cause the lake was already low and some of the other fish may die. And I did not get a chance to weigh it. I did not understand the lake being low in the first place cause the Staunton River was so high you could walk up under it and not get ya hair wet. Man That is the best part of fishing aint it
  23. The moon affects about everything, from firewood to cutting pigs, from planting potatoes to how many crimes are being committed and most important of all, when the fishing is good. I was raised on a farm went did everything by the fazes of the moon. I still do to. Take it for what it worth treble hook , no not me cause I dont eat fish
  24. I have 3 or 4 of the short rods, bought them back in the 70s to stripper fish with. They are stiff , used 888s and 808s on them You needed short rods when bank fishing the Staunton [Roanoke ] river. We caught a lot of fish on those rod & reels. They are Berkley with pistol grip. Buck tails were the bate of chose, cheap at the time, you could trade a few deer tails for enough buck tales to last a long time. Oh I still use em too. But would not trust them to a 25 or 30 pound strip Bass now.
