  2. I'll take it you take checks They are biting caught em yesterday
  3. Well I guess all my stuff is right good , or I would not be fishing with it And if I lone you a rig, it will be as good as I am fishing with. If it is too good to lone a buddy it is to good for me to use , thus I would not own it anyway. Man this is fishing, If I am fishing with you I want to catch more and better fish than you, but not because I have better equipment, because I am a better fisherman And that new open face I got in the mail , well that might be one of them beaters . I wouldn't put that POS off on anyone. I give it a try today. ended up with a bird nest the 4th or 5th cast
  4. Again , Mods if this is in the wrong place I am sorry. I looked them over and put it here. When I was a kid dad would get me to go to the branch and catch him some knotty head minnows to fish with. They were Bass busters for sure. The big ones would get 4 to 6 inches long. And they were not in all branches. They had several knots on their head thus the name. I have not seen them in a coons age. Anyone else know of these? David
  5. If I can get him to bite , you can bet I will hook him with either hand if needed and I reel with my right hand. The left one is just for looks, you know hold the bread against the food so the right one can scoop it up with the spoon Oh and the left one will hold a can OK for the right one to open it, then passed back to the right to drink it
  6. Glade you are here, a very good sight here
  7. I have just noticed a like of big largemouth here where I fish , it has been a long time since I had a 6 pounder dancing on its tail
  8. It appears to me that the biggest Bass were caught in the 70s,80s and 90s . I wonder why. sure there are big fish caught every year , but not like it used to be. More pressure, or not enough. I do know around here there are not as many fisherman as there use to be. Less time to fish more work time. It was more farms here in that time frame , a lot of weekend fishing. Thoughts/
  9. WE Locals call Kerr Bugs Island , have landed a many big fish there too
  10. I should have added that that pic of the child kissing the pig is not me nor anyone kin to me, I just use to raise hogs
  11. Rugger ACP In the truck all the time except when I am not in the truck
  12. My name is David, I am 61 years old. I am from lower central Virginia, I live about 15 miles from Conner's lake, where the record largemouth Bass in Va was caught . 16 lbs and 4oz . I think the state record for Crappie was taken out of the same lake. And I live about 18 miles from Briery lake, where the next largest 2 big mouth Bass were caught. The Stanton river is almost at my backyard. Great river for Strippers. Bugs Island is just down the road , I am truly blessed with close places to fish. I work at Spaulding Equipment in Clover Va.
  13. Mods I hope I have this in the right place Back in the early 60s maybe 60 or 61, Dad bought me my first new reel. It was a Zebco 22. WE went fishing that Sunday evening. Dad and his cousin were fishing for big mouths, I had a ball of worms on the 22 fishing round the bank for Brim. A big Bass grabed the hook and took off , the drag was squealing. Dad was there in ammeter of seconds. Of course I wanted him to take the reel as I had no idea I would be able to get it to the bank. I was a pole fisherman until that day. After what felt like hours I got him to the edge and Dad grabbed him in the mouth. Man was I proud, we went to the Store in Saxe about 2 miles from the pond I got it, and Dad sent me in the store with it to get it weighted. We had it wrapped in a guano sack [ old burlap fertilizer bag ]. The river and creeks were up cause it had come a fresh the day before and folks were gigging Carp. I gave the sack to Mr. Crews to weigh and he put it on the same scales that he weighed cheese and bologna with. the store was full but no one paid any attention. Mr Crews said it weighed 4lbs 15 ounces. When he handed it back to me , it slipped out the sack into the floor. Mr. Crews said dam that is a Bass. Boy they all came around then and wanted to know where I caught it. Of course Dad was in the store by then and took over before I told them. That has been a lifetime ago and I still get excited when I thank about it. I would give anything to be able to fish with Dad again Oh it bought burnt that little 22 up David
  14. Well, I tried an open face reel about 30 years ago, and did not like it. I bought another open face one 3 weeks ago for Crappie, and am not took with it, I guess I will try one of the bait casters. But I do catch s few nice fish on the old Zipco's . I am sure I am limiting the ways I can catch fish with what I am using. But those old reels are bulletproof
  15. Not trying to start anything , I guess I took it wrong
  16. Well, I guess I don't know how to fish, Have been fishing the old 33s and 888s for over 50 years.
  17. Well, I found our one thing the braided line does not work for me! I don't like the way it cast Mono cast better and farther for me . What do yawl think?
  18. DAD of course and anyone that knows more than me about catching Bass , as long as they smoke and put the butts in their shirt pocket, don't through stuff in the water or on the ground.
  19. I went out Sat. Only made a few hundred cast caught one under 2 lbs. And got him on a black worm David
  20. We all know there are special nights for drinking, any night that was presided by a day is a special night for drinking, however if a night is presided by a night it is not a good drinking night , but may not be a total bad one either
