I'm Too Young to Know What I am Doing...
Warning: this is a rant and it will be a bit all over so bear with me! Started taking fishing seriously two and a half years ago when I was 15, after being pretty outdoorsy my whole life. Quickly became addicted and worked/work extremely hard to get where I am today. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I have have literally spent 2-4 hours a day watching youtube videos, reading books, basically any information I can get my hands on, I love it. Fishing is truly my passion, and it is evident in the effort I put in on and off the water. I love being outside and learning. Recently, I began telling people/opening up to others about how much fishing means to me. Within my school, and even my school district, I am known as "the kid that loves fishing". I have met a few really awesome anglers/people over the ;last few years, and I would like to thank them for all of there help. There is however, one thing that has really started to bother me, and I now notice it in other aspects of life. That is that people assume I am too young to be smart or have any clue how to fish. Recently a lot of people have asked me if I like to fish and have suggested that I try a baitcaster or told me that using live bait isn't fair and to try a lure, stuff like that, hard to give exact examples. They assume that because I just turned 18, I have no idea how to use lures, or do anything impressive in fishing. People are always telling me what top do and it drives me insane. I hate not getting treated with respect because of something I can't control, such as my age. I treat absolutely everyone with the utmost respect, regardless of age, gender, skin color, sexual orientation, or any other factor. I cannot stand watching someone treat another person with disrespect. I will say that almost every angler I meet while I am fishing treats me with respect. They see that I am also out on the water, and that I am well equipped and fishing in the right areas, etc. It tends to be the people who find out I enjoy fishing, off the water, who tend to belittle me. I love when people do this and I start talking about things they have no idea about, whether thats the thermocline, drop shot, or why you want to fish on x side of the lake during x time of day during x time of year. Its awesome to watch them realize I am a bit more knowledgeable than they realize. This probably sounds pretty trivial to most people, especially coming from what most would consider a "privileged suburban white kid (who also has no clue how to fish(lol))", and I realize that many people deal with issues much worse than this everyday just because of their gender or ethnicity. I genuinely want to make a positive impact on the world, whether that is through physical therapy, teaching, the Navy, or anywhere else I may end up in life... I am making it a personal goal of mine to treat everyone with respect, and to work on being able to see the perspective of others. I also want to mention that I am a big fan of the Bassresource community and am proud to be a part of it. We all seem to share the "we are all in this together mentality" which is something I believe in. That is why I don't think anyone on here is the type of person to assume that one cannot be good at something because of their age. thanks!

Net for bass fishing
I use ego nets, and have a rod holder at the front of my boat that is there to hold my net, works great especially during tournaments!

How to Fish Shallow Docks
Forgot to mention that there are weeds on the bottom that stick to the baits so bottom contact lures don’t work

How do I feel if this is the case? I have a piwerdrivepower drive

How to Fish Shallow Docks
There seems to be a lot of information out there on how to fish these massive boat docks on massive lakes, some of the docks over 15' of water or more and the size of a small house! I fish smaller lakes that have smaller shallower docks. There are still lots of fish around them, except they need to be fished very differently. While I have good success on them, I want to get even better. The two lakes I fish docks primarily, one is actually pretty deep and very clear, but the bank is gradual, and the docks are small. Most of them are for fishing, and a few have boats. avg depth is like 2-6'. The other lake is about 4' vis and the docks are much closer together. lake is a lot shallower. My main techniques are a spinnerbait, keitech swimsuit trigged, and a walking bait. these lures I cast two the sides and around the docks, not underneath.I throw senkos, tubes, and flukes underneath the docks. I want to try fishing more traditional lures under the docks like jigs and Texas rigs, but can't find any help on the internet for shallow docks.

plug was removed, except the hole clogged with debris somehow, allowing it to fill up. How do I go about cleaning and drying these?

boat was in my driveway with the cover on it. bought the cover for 170$ at cabbalas. not even waterproof, thats why it filled battery works fine but is very crusty. trolling motor is a power drive v2, shows battery meter, but doesn't spin the prop. fish finder shows lines on the screen but not fish/anything remotely close to what it should be.

Boat Camping
Yes, as they say in survival, start with what you are confident in/ know you can do. Many times people focus on making fire and leave the shelter till after, only to realize that they can't start a fire and have no shelter either. better to have a least one! all great pieces of advice. Luckily I spend lots of time behind my house in the middle of nowhere. Went camping Christmas Eve through New Years this year, High was 14* low was - 12*. love the cold can't tell you how important tp and mre's are! good advice, was wondering how I would be able to use my tm over a long period of time. another question, I haven't used an outboard before, how much gas do I need for each day?

Everything is ruined...
was planning getting out win the water a few weeks ago. After arriving to the lake, it was frozen so I went home. Left everything in the boat with there cover on. The other day I knew the lake hd thawed so I went to get my boat ready, and sure enough it was filled with water. Trolling motor and fish finder won't turn on. Luckily the actual unit wasn't in the boat, but all the wiring was left exposed. What should I do?

Boat Camping
This spring/summer, I am planning on going boat camping for a few days with one or two of my friends. Two of us are into fishing. The other wants to learn, and is into hunting, unlike the two of us. We all love spending time outdoors, pushing ourselves physically, and having a good time. We are planning on going to the Delaware Water Gap, the northern border of PA and NJ. We will be taking one or two of my 14' V-Hulls, equipped with a trolling motor and 25 HP outboard. I will remove the decking in the boats for maximum storage. I want to try and fish for multiple species, mainly bass for fun, both largemouth and smallmouth. I would like to try and land our first walleye, and fish for catfish for dinner. I was thinking of leaving a line out overnight for catfish. looking for any tips or advice!

7' Ultralight too flimsy?
Perfect, I can’t set the hook, so I typically let fish hook themselves and start reeling. Especially with powerbait for trout, the moderate action is ?

How should I change it?
Great advice! Totally forgot to mention that I love to fish the 4.8” swimbaits (have tried multiple brands here) on weighted superline Swimbait hooks that have the screw lock. I love them on a casting rod with braid around heavy cover or larger fish. I actually bought a few small Swimbait hooks like the flashy swimmer for the easy shiners. I will try them and maybe pick up a few larger ones for the 3.8” keitech. Thanks for reminding me! Haha autocorrect is very annoying! Not necessarily bending them on fish. When I get snagged I do almost everything I can to get it off. Last resort is a yank and tug attempt. This usually works but the hook bends a bit. I have been using a 3/0 light wire? Gamakatsu EWG

How should I change it?
my favorite rig for fishing in 2-8 (mostly 4-6) feet of water is a 3.8" Keitech Swing Impact Fat. setup is a 7' M Fast Spinning rod, 3000 size reel with 15 lb braid and 8-10 lb leader. I use the 3.8" Fats exclusively, and in various color patterns. I have experimented with hooks a little bit, but have found a 3/0 light wire EWG by Gamakatsu to have the best hookup ratio. Only issue I have is that they bend out easily and that the baits get destroyed very quickly when I use these hooks. I also use a 1/8 oz tungsten weight and double peg the weight against the hook. I am currently using a cast and reel retrieve. Bait comes through grass and through cover pretty well. My strategy is typically to fish a topwater mimicking a baitfish. Once that bite dies, I switch to a chatterbait or spinnerbait, depending on what and how I am fishing. Once that dies, I start fishing the keitech as my moving bait for the rest of the day. I find that some of my biggest fish come on that keitech rig. I am looking for any advice on how I can improve my small swimsuit game. I do fish the easy shiners and other swimbaits on other rigs. I mostly looking for what rod you would throw this exact rig on, where, and what hook, how you retrieve it, etc.
