  1. My lake in NEPA is shallow and has a ton of docks. I caught 10 lmbs this morning between 5am and 11am. Water temps started at low 63* and ended at high 64*. It rained a bit the night before, and was very cloudy until around 8:15. I started catching them at 7;45, all about 1.75 lbs and just off the docks, not in and under them. Caught them on a spinnerbait and chatterbait. Caught one bass on a seiko under a pontoon. The beginning area I fished is usually the most productive area but I had no bites. I started catching em in a usually too shallow area, where the stiff breeze was blowing. on the other side of the lake, I caught 4 or five more offshore in about 5', probably 50 yards from the bank. One was likely a female, but the rest were males. on my last cast, I caught a 3.75 fat female way under a dock on a chatterbait. yesterday on the same lake, I got bit towards the end of casting towards docks. I lost a massive smallmouth near the boat, and caught another in 6'. what is going on? I normally catch em under the docks but not today, and I struggled
  2. Sweet man! look forward to seeing how you do! Haven't been fishing as much as I'd like to, It's my final semester as a high school student and I'm really trying to end the year with a good report card. I did get out a couple days ago and it appears that bass are moving onto beds in SEPA, although this was in some ponds, haven't been to any lakes yet.
  3. well, contrary to what I thought, the bass were going after the trout, hooked a 14" rainbow and washed it get obliterated by a 6+ lb bass. got it on video too, just don't know where to upload it. pretty epic. I hooked the trout onto my frogging rod and was unable to find the being bass. also saw 3 8+ lb trophy trout!
  4. those chart sexy shad kid finesse spinnerbaits are the best!
  5. Started fishing marsh creek all the time last summer. Only made one trip so far and it was a disaster! Tm broke, fishfinder wasn’t working, my auto off deployed, so I had to wear it like that, and my battery doed! No fish on top of that!!!
  6. Got out on my lake in the poconos for opening day. Caught 16 trout between the two of us, biggest went 3-12, mostly rainbows, a few brookies and 1 brown. Caught three trout today all raibows. Biggest was 2.5ish. also caught an 18” pickerel shallow and a bass in 8’ that was 2+ lbs Water temps are pubs 53*, shallow and weedy lake
  7. I bought a Garmin echomap 94sv last summer for my 14’ boat. Bought the upgraded mapping card too. Only downside was that the transducer is huge. I took the head off an old broken transom mount trolling motor I was using as a rudder in the back, and removed the prop. I was able to have a rudder with a transducer in the back. Works great. Just bought another unit and all the hardware except a transducer. Hoping to mount it on my trolling motor and don’t know which one to get.
  8. I have wanted to create a thread solely for anglers in Eastern PA, with the intention of emulating the Eastern MA thread. Guidelines You can input as much or as little as you'd like to be added in the future... Hope you find some beneficial information on here! Tight Lines, Quarry Man
  9. thanks, is it best that time of day because the sun will heat the water the most? I don't think the lake will be too muddy, usually stays pretty clear.
  10. I will be heading to the lake house in NEPA this weekend for the opening day of trout; however, I do plan on doing some bass fishing as well. I have been having better luck with the trout in the early morning/at night in streams around my house in SEPA. I haven't done enough bass fishing yet this year. I am predicting that the water temperatures will be mid to high forties, possibly low fifties towards the end of the trip, as it will be warm and rainy. What is the best time of day to fish? Please don't say "any time you can fish is the best time", I have no school for the next two weeks and will literally fish sun up to sun down if I can. just wanna know the best time of day. also will fish be in the super shallow (4-6') and muddy side of the lake (SE), or the deeper (6-12') rocky/weedy side of the lake (where all the trout will be too) (NW)?
  11. My Garmin Echomap 94SV won’t power on. It is the previous model, one generation older than the new one that just came out. Everything recently got wet except the actual unit which was not attached. I was unable to power it on several tries. There appears to be some damage on a few of the parts, so I ordered new parts. I met with my tech-Ed teacher, and it appeared that everything was working just fine, although when we attached it to a 12v battery, nothing happened. Only thing I can think of is if the actual unit is damaged or if the unit needs to be attached to the fish finders to power on
  12. good to confirm. Do you think to would work? kinda like a big inline spinner I guess. I have caught these trout on chatterbaits and spinnerbaits before as well. might give it a go the morning after opening day
  13. Unfortunately I don't own any. what about an umbrella rig for bass and trout? its legal in pa I think.
  14. Ordered a new foot pedal hope that fixed the issue
  15. Yeah they slide right down, no spiny fins
  16. you guys really think a huddle would work in a small lake like that?
  17. I don't like the shoulder to shoulder stuff either, and with powerboat for stocked trout, its not really fishing, that being said, I still enjoy it, and im also one of the few people to go out on a boat for opening day, and to use lures. one time I was trying to launch my boat and there were four middle aged adults and they did not move out of the way, and I waited politely to do whatever they were doing, but they were strangely getting in and out of the kayaks/being oddly weird right in front of the boat ramp. they were confused and offended when I asked them to move after like 5-10 minutes of me waiting behind them clearly trying to put the boat in. Eventually I just started pointing at the sign and going in reverse, took them a second but they moved out. some people just don't get it. on a side note, I live on a smaller lake, and we have kayak/jon boat tournaments. there is a massive cooler on the launch dock that serves as a live well for boats without live wells. Watched 4 foreign tourists come up to the dock, open the cooler, stare at a 7lb bass and then proceed to dump the bass into the lake, along with my 4 lber. This was with 15 minutes to go in the event, and I was winning until some guy on the bank caught the 7 lber. then the people proceeded to grab a random canoe, don life vests, and paddle out into the lake. they rammed eachoither and swam right where we were fishing. I didn't care at that point bc it was actually funny, though annoying!
  18. Who would contribute to an Eastern PA Fishing Reports thread, similar to the east ma one?
  19. Biggest bass I've seen recorded from that lake in the 10 years we've been there was about 6lbs. Lake is starting to make a comeback (was very low two years ago), and I have a feeling that there are big girls in there. As for the trout, one of the members of our community pays for a handful of trophy fish to be stocked in the lake. I may have exaggerated a little bit, but they are very very big. as for pickerel, literally every fish is 18" on the dot. I landed a 6ish lber last winter, and have lost two that were 7+ best guess, right at the boat. I would not be surprised if they tried to eat the trout, I just think that with the clubs mentality of fewer, but bigger fish, it might be harder. There are now tons of perch coming back, perfect size for bass and trout and pickerel.
  20. I live on a 50ish acre lake. They stock a ton of trout every year. Lake is actually a pretty good bass lake, and a bunch of pickerel, mostly 18" but there are at least two 7+ lbers in there. on side of the lake is 12' deep, some rock and thats where the trout are stocked and where shore anglers can fish from. I will be in a boat and tend to go further out than bank anglers can reach from shore. I was wondering what impact the trout (mostly 14-16", and a handful of 8-10lbers) would have on the bass? I doubt there are big enough bass in the lake to eat trout, best guess is that there are no bass over 7 lbs. will the trout force the bass to migrate to the opposite shallow end of the lake in search of bait?
  21. When do you predict the bass will start spawning up north? Here in PA the lakes are much colder than in MA somehow. You guys were on open water a week or two before me. That being said, its getting hot here and that might accelerate it a bit. Will hopefully be able to make a trip up and get to bed fish my lake for the first time!
  22. My brain is constatntly going 100mph on the water, and if you're fishing with me/youre my buddy, I will tell you everything I know and think of, bc TWO MINDS > ONE! On the other hand; if random people ask if I've caught any I say "a few here and there" and when they ask what bait, I say "a little bit of this, and a little bit of that" this does change when other random anglers seem interested in swapping ideas, I will open up. If im not gonna catch em, I want you to catch em instead.
  23. is it legal to tag fish for individual research? might be interesting. another idea... what if you tagged fish when you stock them and the tag connects to your electronics, the new era of fish finders
  24. Recently let my boat get soaked by accident. Anyways, the 55lb thrust Powerdrive V2 will turn left and right, display battery etc. only issue is that it doesn't spin the prop. meaning it is basically useless. what do I do? is it the foot pedal, or the motor?
