  1. I throw 3/8 and 1/2 spinners and chatters on a 7ft heavy daiwa fuego. On those baits you have a big jig hook to sink into a moving bass's mouth. I like more power with a fast tip. So I would get the veritas.
  2. Live about 20 minutes away. Never have fished it. Really want to though.
  3. Saturday is tourney day. They are projecting about 57 inches of rain that day so it should be fun!
  4. Reels are all daiwa with 1 lews mixed in. Rods are lews, dobyns, duckett, cabelas, and daiwa.
  5. I've got 1 rod I use for light jigs and senkos that has 12lb fluoro. 1 rod that has some heavier mono for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits 1 that has lighter mono for shallow/medium cranking 6 have 50lb braid to a heavy big game leader. Pitching, jigs, worms, any heavy cover 2 have straight braid for punching grass, and frogging
  6. Fg or Alberto in small diameters your fine. Could also save some money and get a fuego which fishes just as good as my tatulas but it doesn't have the t-wing
  7. Great fish and great write up. Looks like a good time. Especially being out there with your family.
  8. Maybe a daiwa tatula 7'2 mhr? That rod would be a good rod to throw a lot of moving baits on and sensitive enough to throw a jig or work on as well.
  9. Over the years ive realized what I like and what has worked for me. I have limited my color selection drastically as well as mainly buying things I know produce. Not jumping for the "next new/got thing". Or at least not diving head first into it. I also categorize my plastics by limiting myself 1 3600 box per style or hook size.
  10. If you're pitching in holes of vegetation a 1/2 works nicely, try to be as vertical as possible with your presentation. A heavy weedguard and hook is necessary which means a heavy rod with heavy line is needed as well. I haven't ever punched a jig through vegetation so would suggest a punch rig or jika rig for that.
  11. I use owner jungle hooks for pitching/punching and am not able to texpose. So I leave hook buried in plastic but since I'm using a heavy rod with at least 50lb braid I can really whack them on the hook set to push the hook through the extra plastic.
  12. Bump up to a 7" senko. Closer to thickness as a hot dog
  13. Mitch out a spot in a large brown or black felt pen and color the last few feet of your yellow braid to turn it green.
  14. Don't forget if you have a cabelas close by they honor bass pro gift cards as well.
  15. Ducketts run fairly light and moderate compared to other rods in my opinion. But as stated above the 75 and 90 you should be fine with. For the 110 I'd step up to at least a medium heavy if not a heavy and the 130 would be on a heavy or mag heavy. Just for a little reference point. I have a 7ft mh micro magic that I use exclusively for smaller jigs and senko style baits and it's All that rod wants, to fish a 3/8 ounce jig+trailer, 1/4 ounce Texas rig, or anything in moderate cover.
  16. Think I'll wait a little longer before letting him shave. 13 months is awfully early.
  17. Although i caught my pb on a green pumpkin worm, I haven't had much more success with it besides that one time.
  18. I've got 5.5 years in on nights. There's a good rumor floating around my shop that I'm next to go to days. The one time I want a rumor about me to be true.
  19. I believe I read that they are sending him a free rod.
  20. All my big bass have come from the heart of cover or structure. Not the edges. With a slow retrieve with the utmost focus on my line and surroundings.
  21. Eliminating non-productive or small fish water helps enormously. Search for the spot within the spot.
  22. Shakespeare tiger cat rod from Wal-Mart is like 35 bucks for a combo at Wal-Mart spooled with 20lb mono
  23. It would work. Wouldn't be my first choice but it will work. Especially if you use braid.
