  1. Because they are boring and cleche? I get that. But d**n they work.
  2. I cant say enough about a spinner bait in current burning it directly cross stream.
  3. But once you go a few years, you will stop buying jigs. I havent bought a jig from store in years. I figure with the price of hire end jigs and my disdain for bronze hooks, its easy to justify buying a mold for $40-$50. Then i have what i want.
  4. What are you using for hackle? Polar chennille? Some bugz.

  6. My phone gives me to resize in the upload.
  7. The craw is one of my favorite patterns to tie. I haven't had that much success on the pattern yet. But I think that is more to do with the water clarity of the bodies of water I fish than anything else. I love the ones with longer hackle. Will really look alive on the bottom.
  8. Ive had luck with original floating Rapalas across shallower flats before the weeds get up. Its sonething i’ll do moving from one spot to the other.
  9. Perfect, thank you.
  10. I like wacky-rigging finesse worms when i feel like i want to downsize from a senko. However the o-rings I use for senkos are to large of a diameter for finesse worms. Any of you found ab alternative size o-ring for this presentation. I really prefer to use an o-ring for wacky rigging.
  11. Tough to beat a poisontail jig as an all around jig head.
  12. Good point about oxygen. This is why you will find bass sitting in the middle of rapids in summer. They are getting oxygenated water and an ambush spot to hammer easy targets being washed downstream.
  13. I finally got a bow mount trolling motor and it is decinitely making life easier in current. Question is, im fishing very skinny, rocky river water. I currently have the teolling motor set so it is slightly deeper than the bottom of the boat. Is there a rule of thumb for how deep you should have your motor relative to the boat to optimize performance?
  14. Nope, They love sitting along banks all day long. Atleast in the rivers I fish. Pretty much every fish I have caught this year has been within feet of the bank, regardless of time of day.
  15. One place I would say if you want to drive is Shabbona Lake. I know theres a good pop of 5 and 6lbers in There. It gets hit hard but if you can go during the week and focus on the weedlines, I beleive it has potential to produce one. 8lbs in LBS is a tall order unless you are lucky enough to find a private pond that holds them, you are after a true unicorn. bout like me hunting for a 20” smallie.
  16. Ive built some 3/8oz baits with #5 or #6 indianas and they havent rolled for me.
  17. I had one of my best outings ever last night on the wacky rig. Didnt matter. Senko, TRD, finesse work. They hammered it. 3 15-16’s and an 18+. My son lost a nice one as well. Caught a bunch of little ones as well. It was some if the easist fishing ever. We anchored in the current off a rock wall with a big current break. 10ft of the break pitching the rig i to the pocket and playing it in the current. Water was less than a foot of vis but when they found it it was a done deal. My 6yr old son had the time of his life. He also graduated to boat partner apprentice they way he handled that net. He was interested in fishing before but now I think hes absolutely hooked. Its one of the easiest rigs for a kid to use. Going back tonight hopefully. if you cant tell, I'm a-little jacked up still, mostly because he shared in the experience.
  18. One hell of a night. My son definitely advanced to the 200 level last night. Did awesome with the net, even on the big boy (18+ in).
  19. Good point on the compact part. Even on half and 3/4 i typically stick with a 3/0 or 4/0 hook and dont go over 44 strands. I also like to tie it with short flared strands out and and longer tails underneath. Knocks down the bulk a bit.
  20. Hard to beat a chart and white spinnerbait with chart and white willow blades. In the prespawn though i was hammering them on a 3/4oz spinnerbait with a single #5 willow. On overcast days i used a black painted blade. On less cloudy days it was a silver blade. my soinnerbait fishing changes by season. Dead heat of summer im burning a double willow across riffles in the rivers i fish. I havent had much luck with colorados but i havent commited to fishing that blade either. Let fish tell you what they want and try a couple diff thing. Diff waters are different.
  21. This might be my favorite hard-bait so far. It walks nicely as well.
  22. Let her think she’s won.
  23. That channel has been giving me alot of ideas lol. They have a shop within a couple hours of me. Thats why i asked about the subfloor support. I just saw a video of them putting in aluminum subfloor.
  24. Haha, health for her because she can get rid of you lol.
