New to the Neko rig
I like the berkley chigger craw with an o-ring. Rip off 2 legs to get oring on. I pour my own weight with worm head mold. I just leave the hook out. Let it hit bottom, shake it, hop or drag it, repeat.

Deciding on new depthfinder/ di, si, or both
After the discussion here and my research i think i am leaning towards the echomap7 cv for the bow. Eventually ill put a 9sv on the transom as well but for the way i fish i think this is the best place to start. Im getting alot of ot this month so should be able to pick it up in the next few weeks if i can find it instock for a reasonable price.

Best tip top guide for braid.
I need to replace some tip tops. A couple due to breakage, a couple due to braid wearing through. What are some good guides for braid? One of them is a micro guide although im going to oversize it because my leader caused insert to pop out and now its grooved.

Hummingbird vs Lowrance vs Garmin
Early 80s alumacraft with 15hp johnson. Lowrance 4 hdi. Just put a casting deck in it and took it up 5hrs to vilas co WI this past week.no doubt i can catch fish in it, i caught some nice smallies. But as you said its about opening up mor fish catching ability with better tech. Thats what i want to do on my budget.

Deciding on new depthfinder/ di, si, or both
Thats whats got me leaning towards the lowrance for the price. But seems like everyone is down on the Lowrance and prefers garmin or hummingbird. So im wondering if im better off with a seven in one of those vs the 9 with similar amount of features

Can I Fish From A Pool Float?
Do it just know the water and have a safety plan for when it sinks. Being on the water is better than not as long as you can do it safely. And as long as you pick your spot correctly and have a pfd on who cares if it doesnt work. If u have buddies with you, youll be talking about it still when u are 80

How much value would u put in a 9in vs 7in display?

Deciding on new depthfinder/ di, si, or both
Knowing me i wouldnt be able to see screen after one day. Definitely going to be using it alot vertically on structure whether dropshotting smallies or jigging eyes so i agree DI is a must. I am on the trolling motor alot so SI would be nice too. Big thing for me is being able to dial into the spot on the spot as i am not good at that now. I think SI would help with this because i have a better idea of whats around me. what makes you prefer hummingbird to the rest?

Keitechs falling off hook
Seems like keitech fat impacts start sliding off keeper after first fish how are you guys making them last several fish. Is wire keeper the answer? Mainly use poison tail with widegap 3/0 or walleye head with lightwire hook.

Deciding on new depthfinder/ di, si, or both
Thanks @Shimano_1 What about the lowrance hook 2 tech? Reason i ask is bp has a hook 2 9 tripleshot On sale for 500 (300 off). Ive heard really good things about image detail on the garmins. I know i like down imaging detail. As far as side imaging it definitely looks awesome but ive never experienced it on the water. Eventually im going to have to play with them.

Deciding on new depthfinder/ di, si, or both
I am looking at new depthfinders and need to stay under 500. (Placed on bow, upgrading from lowrance 4hdi). Some things i want it to do: The biggest thing to me is being able to pick up the spot on the spot. Structure in weeds, bottom structure. Deep breaks. Sure SI is great for this part. I like to be able to sit on top of structure and hold. I have an old transom trolling motor placed on the bow, so i need something that helps me respond and correct positioning easily. My hdi does that somewhat now. Thats why i think i need di still. my question is in my price-range do i pick one over the other and get maybe a newer tech or get something like triple shot with alittle older tech? should mention i want atleast 7” screen

Thanks munkin. Using cheap craft acrylic and an airbrush from the 70s. Lol. Feel like painting is about as good as good as im gonna get with this setup. Not saying i cant improve but i need to upgrade for more detail and get better paints.

SMB: Best Price/Performance rod & reel combo...1 for Spinning and 1 for Baitcasting
Fenwick eagle 6’6 med and lews lfs Bc has been great. Smooth casting and will cast down to 1/8 oz husky jerks. Plenty of backbone for bigger fish as well as it handled a 28”pike and 34” musky flawlessly on jerk baits. Im always impressed by fewick lineup. Would go up a level on lews for the sealed bearings as lfs arent. Still searching for my fav spinning combo although i bout 66med hmg Fenwick tonight. Hopefully that is the one.

Cedar baits. Been having alot of luch with black and chart jigs so figured id try my hand on hardBaits as well. Cranks are alittle more flatsided than intended but should be nice and tight wobble. Jointed jerkbait cuts hard on the jerk. (Tested it before paint)
