  1. Ive tryed the ribbet and the zoom, i feel like one of them was really dense but dont remember for sure. Regardless of which one i throw, i have issues with them riding upside down. Anyone got a solution to this?
  2. I use a toad in place of a buzz bait, i have one spot that in the summer i feel almost guaranteed to pick up a 2 to 2.5 lb bass around 8pmish on a green and white or chart toad and 3/0 widegap What brand of toad do you all prefer, i havent found an ideal one yet
  3. Ive only used the poisontail, but i love it.
  4. Between grad school and work, havent had time to do much, but these are some i have done lately.
  5. Ive waded both ends, i havent really picked up much in the way of structure. It could be that there are green sunfish living above the rifgle along the bank. Frogs and crayfish are throughout.
  6. My best spot is actually just above a large riffle. Its kind of baffling. I have spent counless hours picking apart the riffle and eddies from it but it just never seems to be as productive as above the riffle. There is good rocky structure above as well as below. The depest spot on either side is 4-5 ft.
  7. Man if only I were closer. That’d be a ton of fun.
  8. OnX is good imbecause you can select topo maps, also if you are fishing small streams that go across private you can see property lines. That you have to pay for though
  9. I eeally dont need maps, but ive read where the x models arent as powerful or dont work as well.
  10. I am debating whether it would be better to go w/the 5 in unit that has the maps for 350 or the 7 in in the basic x model for 400. Using lowrance rebate. They are both going to end up being 300. Is the ss inland that much better than the x model? If not, based on budget constraints i may just end up with the 5x
  11. Has to do with your panting process and the type of jig. I ussually dont have issues with mushroom type head but my poinon head jig is an issue.
  12. 1/4 or 3/8 inch spade bit and hammer. On a piece owood, the jig on its side and hold the point of the bit in the center of the eye. Hit the end of the bit till it breaks through the paint. Only way ive found to work on baits once they are heat cured.
  13. I would think some devcon two ton would do the job
  14. Hear you there. Between work, grad school, children and our house my plate is full yet i keep finding myself putting off assignments and sneaking to the river when i should be doing something around the house. Luckily my 5 yr old son loves fishing so I can use that as an excuse and we have been going 2-3 times a week for an hour or two.
  15. This is the way Im leaning, Im just feeling like when im on the lakes I fish i wont utilize it as much becouse I spend the larger portion of my time fishing off the bow at the trolling motor. Logically this makes the most sense in the big picture though, especially since i want to spend alot more time on the river
  16. I am going to pick up a new lowrance hook reveal x from cabelas (gift cards). Going to take advantage of lowrance rebate. I am set on this after extensive research and playing with diff ones. -I currently have a lowrance 4hdi black and white that i move between the transom and bow (transducer on transom). -my time is split beteen 78-300 acre lakes that are mostly trolling motor. -Is it worth the extra $100 for side imaging on my little boat. Particularly in lakes fishing from the bow. -at this point im leaning towards placing the reveal on the bow and hdi on the transom with both transducers off the transom. My boat is only 14ft so i should be able to watch the side view idling with the outboard. -eventually i will get either a 5 or 7 to complement the one I buy now. thoughts, punch holes in this. I could do 2 5’s as this fits in my budget and sell the hdi? Maybe even a 5 and 7 ss.
  17. Doesnt even need a paint job.
  18. I have found a beed above the blade on both inlines and spinnerbaits can put to much pressure on the clevis inhibiting spinning, i would try removing the bead or whipping up another one without that bead and see what happens
  19. I have gotten into the habit of overpowerfishing, meaning i reflexively cast bigger baits for the size of water i am fishing based on a few successes with decent smallmouth and northern, but my catch rate has dipped significantly. My biggest smallmouth ever came on this bait. As well as an 8lb northern. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/strike-king-red-eyed-spinnerbait?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Shop|BPS|TopPerformers|Fishing&gclid=CjwKCAjwy42FBhB2EiwAJY0yQoUmqsmvyju66tj-zIAoR5iFcCgEMw4_qDHHAGAhSS0cAm1OVyhZbhoCCFgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  20. No, not at all. Honestly, i should throw one more.
  21. Ive always had the best luck with double willow. Chartreus blades are dynamite. I tend to stick with sz 3.5 and 4 because they track better when burning across current due to less torque. 3/8 and 1/4. But i fish smaller steams
  22. My goto smallie rods are 6’6 fenwicks m/f.1 iscasting gt with lews lfs baitcaster, other is spinning hmx with a size 3000 spinning reel. I fish some really tight bank areas and i really dont feel hindered. Only thing this setup maybe lacks is being able to make low closequarter casts around branches along the bank. Im not afraid to bring my 7ft med heavy baitcasters in these pllaces.
  23. These look awesome. What did you use to make your scale pattern, guessing its embossed on as it looks textured.
  24. Thank you, i love this idea
