Painting Spinnerbait Blades
Ifvyou powder paint then is it worth it?
-
Blade quality
Ok, that makes sense. Especially the part about gold blades on dark days. That makes all the sense in the world to me considering everone says gold blades dark days. So yeah that would make it worth it.

What makes them so superior?

Blade quality
That was the only plus i could really think of, ive bought cheap bladed spinnerbaits that rust/tarnish. If i was selling, i would probably want premium components to bring a premium price but just for myself, i really cant justify it. Im building a price list now to actually determine cost per bait w/ different components. If i finish it, ill share it. Should be interesting

Blade quality
So i started making spinnerbaits last year and its surprising how fast component price adds up, particularly blades. I order through barlows and they have a bunch of different options. Ive only bought economy finish so far. Honestly, how much of a difference do say the hildebrants or even the premium quality make. Not in fisherman appeal but putting fish in the boat. I understand using ball bearing swivels and good sharp hooks im just not sure if the extra cost, which adds up fast, is really worth it on blades.

Made some feather jigs. Will they catch fish?
Yes they will.

Show Off Your Work!
Is the wire molded into the head? Havent had alot of toime to play with the new airbrush since i started grad school. The citrus crank i made for my son, only dives a foot deep. Trebles are going to need switched out. Not a good combo with a 5yr old. Had better action then I expected. The other one was supposed to be a regular crankbait but i had a little accident drilling the weight hole so I had to perform triage. The bill placement gives it a very wide wobble.

Building Buzzbaits
Not a huge buzzbait connoisseur. But in my experience, like spinnerbaits, the surface area of the blade(s) has alot to do with lift and negate headsize quite a bit. Similar to guys burning half oz spinnerbaits with larger 5 and 6 willows.

Airbrush?
Will this brush work with powder or does that require a different one?

Airbrush?
Yup, experienced that quite a bit with my old syphon feed and cheap walmart acrylic.

Airbrush?
My daughter and I played with it last night with the supplied paint as all are cheap acrylics that are definitely too thick. The supplied paint was very thin for sure. I like the duel action though. No needle to fiddle with.

Airbrush?
Got it for christmas. Looking at compressor, it says it only goes up to 15 psi. Is this enough pressure for acrylics?

Short Shank Swimbait Jigheads
Im actually in the process of researching this exact thing. I have a walleye head mold that works nicely for swimming and does an ok job of holding swimbaits. I have been ising lil nasty and 570 hooks in it. But they are too short and not deep enough in my opinion with the larger 3.8/4.3 fat impact style baits. Therefore i have been looking for a 90 degree option that will fit in the mold but is mainly longer in blknckl finish. What ive been doing and might benefit you too, is go on barlows tackle. Most of their jig hooks are displayed in a way that shows their size in inches as well as comparing different hook sizes in that line. I think with downsizing you may be able to find a hook that will fit a 1/2 or 5/8 but is shorter and lighter wire.

Hair worms
Ive tied my own foxy jigs using old grub bodies and marabou. Ill have to look for one and post a picture.
