  1. Small river smallies are the best. 4lber broke me off on 14lb mono leader as well?
  2. Mustad just came out with their own sickle hook, havent tried it yet but i dont have any complaints about the EC’s
  3. Gotta love when a tackle creation works
  4. I need to stop sharing my ideas and just start making money, geeze
  5. They look good, fish them. They can always be shortened, but material cant be lengthened
  6. Looks simple. 2 slots in the tail. 2 loop wires installed on body. Loops go into slots, then pin slid in and prbably epoxied in place. Thats just my take from afar
  7. These catch fish. Shorten the skirt a tad. I do the same with jigs and spinnerbaits. You want those legs to kick How did you get the images on there? How did you get the images on there? How did you get the images on there?
  8. I think it just needs to be bigger and have a bent lip, it just didn’t have a lot of vib.i was also fishing it in current so it was probably not performing as good as it could when I was going with the current
  9. Thats what i was going to do
  10. Yeah i misspoke. It didnt do much of anything btw. I think the lexan at.093 is too thick to generate vibration. I will attempt a bigger blade and bending it but im not optimostic
  11. I did this with a hair jig for my 4yr old. Cit the hook where the lead started. I got tired of dodging hooks
  12. Best thing to do is buy a 1/2oz casting weight (baitcaster) or 1/4 oz (spinning). These are the bell shaped waits with a loop or swivel on one end to tie line to. You can also take a piece of dowel rod about 3-4 in long and screw and eyelet screw into one end to tie to.
  13. Bluegill pattern jig with rattle tied in. First time ive tied in a rattle seems decent, well see if i can fit on a trailer with the rattle there.
  14. First stab, hopefully try it tomorrow. Lexan is too thick for split ring, so i improvised. I just want see if i get any vibration at all. Im going to try bending one next and ill see if i can figure out some cleaner connections.
  15. Ok, cool. Think im going to try making a blade now
  16. Havent seen it done but can lexan be used for the blade on a bladebait, anyone done this. I was thinking bout trying.
  17. I see your point. And understand where you are coming from now. Alot of that comes down to what the person is driven to do. Its a catch 22 wait till u have stuff and make a nice easy product get hooked because u were successful but run the chance of never starting, or cobble something together, experience the creativity and joy in the adversity of it all but run the chance of getting fustrated and losing interest. Ive been in both places personally. Whatever you do @Baseball 'n Bassin you need to share with us your work there are plenting of experienced makers on here that will guide you. You need that experience of catching a fish on something u have created if you are to the point of reaching out on here
  18. A couple spinnerbaits, (whitechart screamin eagle imitation and my own bluegill pattern) bass on a poisontail, and a mod to my boat to have a bow mount for my trolling motor. Crankbait pics to follow.
  19. Sorry but i disagree. Learn to be creative and inginuitive. Learn to deal the fustration. These are always great life skills and will make u that much more desirable when u go out into the workforce. Luremaking isnt just luremaking to catch fish. Its an expression of creativity. Plus you cant make lures if u dont try to start
  20. Cheap is a relative term. This kid just wants to make something. Do you have a budget? How much can u get in this for. U may not be able to buy everything right away or use the best materials. But u can make something for even 50$. Melt down a buch of old plastics or heck even buy a couple bags of the cheapest plastics u can buy. And make your own mold. Steal your moms oven thermometer and pyrex dish (the asschewing will be worth it later, as well as using her microwave) melt the plastics down to correct temp and pour in homemade mold.
  21. I think barlows tackle sells cheap ones. Otherwise search how to make your own from resin. Youtube marling baits
  22. Saw those, right now i just want to perfect actions and develop some painting skills with what i got. I ever get to selling custom baits, that will be a consideration.
  23. these are all carved wooden baits. Coatwith devcon beforehand then smooth it with 320grit. Still prime over just using opaque. I do think alot of my problem is the thinner rate the more i think anout it. I have alcohol so i will try that method, didnt realize i could use dishsoAp.
  24. Started with water, now using windex for thinning. I am just using white or black opaque for priming. I have not been washing before priming. That is first thing i will try. Got alot of sawdust flying around.
  25. Ive been using cheap acrylic hobby paints because of availability currently and not wanting to waste good paint as i learn to make hardbaits. They look ok, but ive had a problem with peeling afterwards. I am applying d2t to them before and after, but some of them peel even before i get to that process. Obviously one answer is to get into createx. Id like to play with what i have more though. Do i need to heatset the baits and if so, best method.
