  1. Thank you everyone. I had a feeling they would fish light. I’ll get a 3/8oz for truly skinny water, but def going to try a couple 1/2’s have a feeling walleye are going to like them as much if not more.
  2. I have seen Tactical Bassin raving about the darksleeper. I fish alot of rivers ranging in depth from 2-20ft but predominantly less than 10 ft. Water levels are extremely low and the flow is minimal currently. Want to get a couple to try. They have alot of sizes. Is 3/8 heavy enough or should i try some half ounce? Thoughts?
  3. For a depth finder and trolling motor hooked on the same battery, is the negative effect only seen when they are both running, or does just having them hooked to the same battery cause the issue
  4. 3/8 oz homemade spinnerbait. White chart skirt with white and chart willow blades, or a white shad pattern with double willow blades. Blade color based on cloud cover.
  5. Same way, I rarely ever throw it
  6. 2 states in the last year have registered a record smallie on a ned rig! The other was in Illinois on Lake Michigan.
  7. Those white and chartreuse blades sure are sexy
  8. Getting jig heads painted, semester is starting so I want this part over with, so I can tie as I take breaks. Cant wait to see what these blades do to fall smallies.
  9. Morrison lake Carlton at Rockwood State Park is one of those lakes. I dont understand why they kill the weeds there. To my knowledge it hasnt caused a fishkill, but there is no reason for it
  10. What would you all suggest for a battery just for the depthfinders considering space and wieght are a concern for me?
  11. Exactly what I did so I dont have to run in reverse.
  12. Made a wooden one. Dont have a great picture. I want to make a metal plate for it. It has more flex than I like.
  13. I bout a second depth finder (reveal 5 SS) so I can have bow and transom depth finders. I also have a 50lb transom tm on the bow. I have always ran tm and depthfinder off same battery. If I add another depthfinder to the battery Am I going to cause issues? I have heard that running two depthfinders off same battery can cause issues. space is a premium for me since its a small 14ft alumicraft.
  14. Jerkbaits are up there, but i live when im burning a spinnerbait and they smash it
  15. These are what i throw in the river. Usually with a 3 or 5” kalins grub. Dont have a pic but i tie a black and chart jig with a pearl hologram 5” grub that pike just murder. I tie everything on the same poisontail head, so the only thing that changes how I define it is the trailer. If i thow on a grub or swimbait, its a swimjig, if i throw on a craw its a flipping jig/ dragging jig.
  16. Homemade spinner and jig by the way, if anyone is interested
  17. River Walleye and Smallies are biting
  18. Thats a sweet little jig.
  19. That is a very effective pattern. Irs too warm for hair right now, plastics are more effective. I am ready for the cooldown so lures like this craw become more effective
  20. Also started making some beefed up beetle spins and walleye hammer them
  21. Those look spectacular, now Im self conscious about posting my work, lol Posting anyway lol. Ventured into airbrushing and coating with kBS. (Spinnerblade is this way too). Im going to stick to powder coat on the jigs I think, just doesnt hold up well to dragging rocks. thankyou Munkin for hooking me up with wire and spinnerbait hooks.
  22. Found it, similar to hula grub but the tentacles look stiff instead of skirtlike.
  23. Look on Barlows tackle. Not sure how big is big for you but the do have some larger ones it looks like
  24. Im assuming by spider jig you are referring to finesse cut? Or do you mean hula style grubs? I do not throw my hula grubs nearly enough. I love river smallies in August, its always been my most productive time of year, whether throwing a toad or anything else.
  25. Great job, i know what you mean about dead sea flow. River I fish is about 4-5 ft below normal. Literally 20-30ft of bank exposed in spots. I decided to move up towards the dam last weekend and immediately got on fish. Lost a 3-4 lb smallie. Gotta adjust in rivers for sure. Current is everything.
