  1. I have a 4.3 to 1 that ive never really found a great application for. Would you guys use that for deep cranking as well?
  2. Decided to get creative with my molds tonight. Ive been contemplating doing this for quite a while now. So i broke out the dremel tool and got to work. I wanted to be able to make spinnerbaits with my poisontail mold but decided to demo on my walleye jig mold first since i have no use for 5/8 oz jigs really. I was able to cut a successful channel for a wire in that mold so i went to work on the poison tail. It worked!!!!! I also gave my first attenpt at bending wire forms. It took some trial and error, but i think i got a form i liked. Made about 15 spinnerbaits and a swingtail jig. Ill play with this more when i get time, but i feel pretty excited with how my first run turned out.
  3. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️???????????????????? those are gorgeous
  4. Either way, its a great looking profile. And i yes i could see that being a big PIA
  5. Love how the beaver meshes. It has a great panfish profile
  6. Not by any means an expert but i doubt it since the hooks dont really get hot
  7. I would love to see smalljaw to put his own spin on this pattern and post to his youtube channel.
  8. Banged this puppy out before work this morning. New pattern for me in some aspects.first attempt at applying rabbit fur with a dubbing loop. Smallies should love it but have a feeling ym going to lose it to a northern in short order
  9. Awesome to hear baitmaker. Really appreciate the input
  10. I’ve Been working on some hair jigs. These are mostly walleye patterns. I’ve had some luck on orange with black core. Ive been really digging the 1/8 poisontail tied with hair as well. This jig has been coming great through rocks and you get a nice flair on the hair
  11. Im in, poured a bunch of poisontails tonight. Kind of annoyed, i just placed a big order on barlows and didnt realize i was getting low on hooks for that mold. Have enough for the swap though.
  12. I second the 1/8 to 3/32 oz jig head, i favor a 3” green pumpkin curlly tail though
  13. Yes i can, that would be awesome.
  14. So i bought a 7ft med lt, fast action rod with the intention of throwing light bucktails and marabou jigs with it. I wanted to use 2/8 braid with a long leader on it to maximize feel and casting distance. I didnt realize it has microguides though. I’m concerned my fg or alberto leader know is going to negate the casting distance gains i was getting using light braid. Should i throw a light fluro instead or just deal with the braid to leader knot contacting my microguides? Not sure what is best way to go here.
  15. Actually munkin, it sounds like we have similar needs in our spinnerbaits as 75% of my fishing is in current and i need a bait that wont roll. I have yet to place my order to barlows, hit a bit of a budget snag. Hopefully once i get our tax return this week or next i can find a couple extra bucks in there.
  16. I looked at the zeiners web site and prices look comparable to barlows
  17. Ive had similar success, just with a 2” crappie tube with tube jig and small spinner
  18. Thanks cadman. I had that in my cart and took it out. How does that one pour with the detailing? This is new water for me. Im at about 100$ with wire hooks and blades and hardware. Have mustad 32608 hooks in the cart. These a good middle of the road option.
  19. I’m looking at do it spinnerbait molds on barlows tackle and am having a hard time deciding what i want. Im looking for something versitile, yet excels at burning through current. Ive always leaned toward type “h” style spinner baits for this application, but im not sure this is truely the most stable option or just what ive developed a comfort level with. I am looking for suggestions here.
  20. Im interested in getting into spinnerbait making. Did u use wireforms or roll your own. Also, do you use an powderpaint air brush to paint them or do u just tap the paint on. Thats my biggest hold up right now because i only have a fluid bed.

That would be great for smallmouth if the water gets alittle dingy or they if they arent jumping on a straight pumpkin jig. You guys are probably correct to an extent on black and green pumpkin but in my experience, where there are smallies you had better have some chartreuse in your arsenal.

100% yes. I have a couple team supreme spinnerbaits (local company that went out of business a few years ago) that are a similar pattern with double willows and they have always produced well in clearer water and anywhere shad are a staple forage
  23. Thanks mobasser. I have .031 wire in my barlows cart. Ill see if that works. Might be alittle stiff. My biggest issue with store bought “beetlespin” is the flimsyness of the wire. 1 2lb bass or 3-4lb northern absolutely desimates those things
  24. Dropshot weights work as well. Correct me if im wrong but i think the purpose of the tokyo rig had to do with getting your bait of the bottom a couple of inches?

    Absolutely love that first spinnerbait
