  1. The way Brian Thrift keeps his front deck is my goal for this year
  2. I didn't see the 2 6lbers he caught. If he screams its a giant and runs back and forth when he catches a 2 lber What kind of theatrics did he pull catching some legitimate bigs?
  3. Yes, I saw many people weigh non-scorable bass those would have counted towards their scores last year. A few guys said if when prefishing you caught a few fish and they were less than 2lbs that water would be eliminated. Notice how many baitcasters were being used? Guys flipping heavy weights into mats? The lack of guys throwing a spinning rod with a shakey head, ned or wacky rig? Serious question, Do you think Jason Christie would have weighed a scorable bass if the limit was only 1 lb? I didn't see or hear anything that he was doing. I'd be willing to bet he wasn't fishing to catch fish that just made the limit, especially at this lake. I thought I heard on the broadcast that the anglers voted in favor of missing out so that they could advance to the finals. Would you rather have a 1 and 10 chance to win or a 1 in 30 chance?
  4. Chris Lane has a knack for finding discharge pipes, he won an elite event fishing one for 4 days
  5. I'll have to admit I love the changes that they have made. As a viewer nothing to me was more exciting than to watch the 2 cut days for groups A and B Now that they added the Win and advance to the finals, it creates 2 different races on the cut day. It really seems like they are listening to the feedback and adjusting accordingly
  6. I do the same thing. I tie a double uni knot and sometimes it will slide a little. Since I have a little down time in the winter, its part of my tackle prep. I snagged a picture off of someone elses video. I tend to use a smaller piece of tubing than what is shown, but you get the idea.
  7. I got a little my way, not much And yesterday when it was sunny and 50, my neighbor was out mowing his grass Funny to me seeing a guy pushing 80 riding around in a Badboy mower #futuregoals
  8. When I went overboard at the ramp in about 10 feet with my bib overalls on, it was no joke trying to resurface. It felt like chains were holding me down. Now I put the vest on before I launch
  9. There are differences in what is considered "clear" water Up north clear water was defined as crystal clear you could see a penny on the bottom in 20 feet of water. Down here clear could mean crystal clear or what I consider slightly stained- being able to make out chunk rock in 15 feet of water. Have not seen a pike but have gar all over the place. Although they dont eat as many lures unless your burning it or walking the dog with a topwater in my experience
  10. I like the new minimum weight, I like the changes in the broadcast as they are spending more time on the anglers
  11. hahahahahahahahaaaa I only had to live here for a year to see why they drop some of the lakes 30 feet
  12. Bill Dance laughs at these answers
  13. Hopefully, everything goes OK for Drew, his wife and their newborn!!
  14. I see this a little differently, to me you gained the knowledge thru research.(studying at home) That research was not done on the water. That research gave you an idea of what you want to do and what to look for. Being on the water gives you the confirmation that what you learned will work. I should have worded it differently as now looking at it, it appears that I was saying something negative to those that responded time on the water. I guess my point is for me trying to learn and understand bass behavior is what helped me improve the most That was not done on the water.
  15. They only did this to mess with the BPT that starts tomorrow
  16. I see all the comments about time on the water ..... I spent about 300 days on the water just fishing --- no plan, no real clues, just this spot looks good or man theres got to be 1 on this laydown. Looking back those were wasted days. So unless you have an idea or a plan, time on the water might not add up to getting better. Then I started learning about seasonal patterns and structure. These 2 things allowed me to start gaining knowledge to help with my search. Adding current weather conditions narrowed down the options even more. I also spend a few hours every week practicing my casting and pitching(for about 15 years now) This has helped a ton as quiet entries sometimes make the difference in a bite or not
  17. This thread is right up my alley!! I throw a buzz toad 90% of the time March thru November It's all about the blow up for me My dad said I always used to love a jack in the box and this is the exact same feeling Crank the handle, crank the handle, BOOM Blow up!!
  18. I typed out a few different replies but I just love fishing Its the challenge, its the enjoyment, its the being surrounded by the peacefulness of nature, its the rainy days and the days the fog takes all morning to lift, its that look on my kids face during the fight, the sun warming my skin, the awesome way darkness gives way to light and the whole morning comes alive with the sounds of birds, frogs and dogs barking because I swear I always hear dogs barking, it's the making the decisions on where to start, what to use, how deep to go. It's the way it has led me to making some of my own lures, it's the close personal relationships that I have built by sharing this appreciation of fishing, its the way I spend my time off the water reading, learning, thinking and posting about all this greatness that comes from fishing. Bassheads come in all shapes and sizes and by spending time here kinda verifies you are one

  20. I bought some topwater blanks from https://cedarrunoutdoors.com/lure-building-and-craft/unpainted-blanks/ This was just an experiment to see what the quality was on these cheap knock offs I was pleasantly surprised by the quality Not a painter at all- I raided the wife's nail polish and the baits turned out pretty good based on the success I had with them Now I'm looking at the starting cost of getting a compressor, air brush and some paints
  21. This guy does a couple different tests with the original, super salty and magnum trick worms. Quite a different response when the bait is on a shakey head
  22. When I first moved to TN, I donated a bunch of money to guys throwing pink trick worms on shakey heads. Now the big thing is using pink flukes on a damiki rig
  23. 2020 Carhartt Bassmaster College Series at Toledo Bend 1st college event of the year begins at Toledo Bend. Saw a couple familiar faces and wishing them good luck!!
  24. Maybe its just me but I'm always looking for the route they take to get to these spawning areas and are fishing them way before any have pulled up to bed. I'll find several of these areas and run to them trying to pick off pre and post spawners making their way in and out of these spawning areas Rarely do I fish for bass that are on beds anymore
