what you remains to know about bass fishing?
Any way I can learn I try. Books, magazines, online articles, forums like this one and my own personal experiences on the water. I read everything I could on skipping docks but none of it helped as much as getting on the water and doing it. Casting practice in the yard has helped my accuracy and improved my ability to put lures where I want. I would do this daily the first 3 or 4 years after I got back into fishing and think that helped me more than anything else

Alright, Spill It...Personally embarrassing, foolish, boneheaded DOH!! Moments
Many moons ago when living in Ohio and getting my first boat in February I couldn't wait to get it out on the water. The beginning of April rolls around and the ice is off the lake. I back down to the ramp unhook boat from trailer and dump it into the water. I'm watching it out my rearview mirror and it just keeps floating farther and farther away. This dummy forgot to attach a rope to the boat. I had to strip off about 3 layers and swam out to get the boat. Not as easy to climb into as I thought, so I ended up swimming and pushing it until I was able to get it back to shore. I believe the water temp was mid 40's and think my fingers and toes may have been a little frostbitten. Since then I developed a routine that I go through each and everytime so I don't make that mistake again.

Lake Chicamaga Bass Fishing
I saw that there was a study and all the large fish they tested were a mix of northern and florida strain bass. Here is a sample of what was in the article and a link to the site where the article was posted. Largemouth bass collections by TWRA fish crews in 2010 and again in 2012 indicated the successful integration of Florida bass, the southern strain of largemouth, into the lake’s largemouth population. This past spring, the agency removed genetic samples from 50 trophy-sized largemouth bass caught by local anglers and tournament competitors. Nearly all the fish were either a hybrid where the southern strain of fish had crossed with Tennessee’s native northern bass; or they were later generations of largemouth known by biologists as backcrosses. None of the trophy fish from 2013, many eight pounds or larger, were the pure southern or northern strain of bass. “We are excited about the results of the Chickamauga Lake Florida Bass Project,” said Wilson. “Our original goal was to increase the percentage of Florida bass genes to 15 percent and it is currently about 45 percent, but more importantly these stockings have led to a significant increase in the number of larger bass in the lake.” Wilson credited local anglers and bass tournament directors for their participation in the TWRA study and their desire to see a trophy bass fishery on a lake where reservoir conditions have also likely helped produce headline-making catches from Chickamauga. Of the 50 angler-caught largemouth sampled this year, 75 percent were hybrids and 25 percent were backcrosses, according to TWRA Reservoir Biologist Mike Jolley. Jolley headed all of the studies on Chickamauga. http://www.chattanoogafishingforum.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=82493&posts=11&highlight=stocking florida strain&highlightmode=1

Lure I.D.
After a little searching looks like a lure a California company was selling around 2010 or so. Cant seem to find any recent info on them so they may have went belly up. A couple of links to online auctions have the same type of bio info for that company Up for auction is (2) Doppelganger swimbaits. The winning bidder will receive one SHAD and one CRAPPIE Doppelganger. However, if you would like two of either color instead, contact me through eBay messaging, tell me your choice, and I will fill your request accordingly. Size: 4” (10.15cm) Weight: 7/10oz (19.8g) Sink Rate: aproximately 1’ per second Action: swims like a fish, with medium to fast retrieve GR8LAKE was the first lure company to introduce a lure of this design in the United States. We believe you will find that the quality of the Doppelganger is equal to that of some of the best lure manufacturers in the business. GR8LAKE is a company dependant on the quality of the Clear Lake California fishery. For this reason, we donate fifty cents from every Doppelganger sold, to the County of Lake, for "BioHaven floating islands".

OK! Braid!
I believe what he is talking about is that there are 4 posters supporting kast king braid and they have only posted once. With tens of thousands lines, lures, rods and all other equipment mentioned on this site, they magically became aware of this thread and then posted their review on it. Yet have no other opinion on anything else. I can see why people are calling those "fake" reviews as only posting once gives no credibility However, there are a lot of reviews about their braid from legitimate members I try to look and read those reviews and just ignore reviews from people that have no other opinion

Am I Cursed?
If you're fishing Loudon/Tellico or any of the TN river system lakes, find out if they are pulling water There is a TVA app that shows this, I am told. The fish are a little more predictable when they are pulling water, as I find they will hide along main channel breaks to capitalize on the food being moved by the current. Any type of laydown, rockpile or point will give the bass a place to hold in slack water Also as fall starts to creep in the bass become more scattered, so throwing 20 different lures becomes more common

What's Your Nemesis?
I'm my own nemesis with my stubbornness. The first tournament I ever fished 2 guys cut between us and the shore and they were throwing white spinnerbaits. I told my dad I would never cruise the shoreline throwing a spinnerbait like those no skilled A-holes. Fast forward 15 years and I pretty much just cruise the shoreline throwing a frog/topwater. So when we had a lot of rain this year our lake went up 10 feet past full pool putting all kinds of new bushes into play. I broke down and tried throwing a spinnerbait for the first time, I did not have any success and frankly no confidence in it either. I saw somewhere guys would remove the skirt and use a swimbait as a trailer... BINGO, I've caught a bunch of bass this year with a skirtless spinnerbait and have found it to be very versatile Slow roll, burn it, pull and reel.... it deflects off cover well, can be fished through weeds I hate thinking about all the fish I missed because I was just too stubborn to try something that is a proven fish catcher

Another option would be to use an hdmi cable to connect the laptop to the TV. Most newer computers and TV's have this option.

My BASS Marshal experience
Thank you for the report!! Those waves can get rough and when you have a service crew on hand they tend to be a rougher on their equipment. I loved my marshal experience and would recommend it to others. Did you ask Poche if he and Ish made up?

Do you change up your bait for fun or effectiveness?
Did you try changing spinnerbaits? Colors or size can make a difference. Did you try changing retrieves? Sometimes slow rolling or a faster retrieve can be the trigger Lets say you were fishing in 10 feet of water and moving the bait fairly quickly. The smaller fish could be closer to the surface so slow rolling would be a way to work the bait deeper than the ones you were catching Another option is to give them a different lure fished at the same speed and depth(say chatterbait or squarebill) If I find fish, I'm more likely to pick part that area to try and come up with a reason as to why they were there. This way I can look for other areas with similar properties.

Anyone "stitching" for big bass
Thank you so much for this!! I remember watching a TV show and they were welding plastics back together. Never saw it again and my searching for the tool came up with nothing. I do this in my garage with a wood burning tool to repair baits and have created some Frankenstein baits too. Now I can do this on the water if I am running short on baits or a specific size/profile is wanted that day.

Copolymer Vs Flurocarbon Visibility?
He let me use a couple of his rods as this was before I even owned Flourocarbon. I always thought flouro was an over hyped product and never bought into it. Several trips first hand experiencing the difference changed my beliefs. I do not feel as though it is abrasion resistant, any little nick or burr will be the end of it. Which is why everyone that uses it has to constantly retie or lose fish like you have indicated earlier. Maybe once I am able to put in 20 years testing it as much as you have, I'll have a different opinion. I have never used copoly or a high quality mono and will give those a try based on the recommendations on this site.

Copolymer Vs Flurocarbon Visibility?
Fishing in Lake Erie for the first time I was told bring as light of line as you've got I got schooled because I was using 4lb and 6lb mono and my partner was using 6lb flourocarbon. Once I switched, it was like day and night. I also watched him land a 16 lb sheepshead on that 6lb Gamma I cant speak for copoly as I've never used it

What does the hookset mean about fish activity
I have caught bass that have had the spinnerbait hooked in the corner of its mouth and then during the fight the trailer hook caught under the jaw. Upon landing the fish the only hook was under the jaw. Frequently happens with smallmouths and have seen this with a few largemouths as well. I have also caught a smallmouth that I watched swipe at the first smallmouth I hooked and that one was caught under the jaw as well. I would not be able to make a determination one way or the other as to what happened on the hook set as there are just too many variables and even more with crankbaits because of wobble and deflection.

Trailering A Small Boat
What type of tow vehicle? When you back in the trailer are you stepping into the water directly out of the vehicle? If so, you may need some type of waders. On shallow ramps I'll load the boat > step on trailer tongue climb into either the bed of the truck or the back of the SUV that I have left the tailgate up and put down the rear seats. So not the best way but it works for me when I dont want to get wet.

Yum Dingers or Strike King Shim-E-Sticks?
I have to agree with Toxic about having 2 sides to this discussion and neither side is very swayable. I'm poor and cheap therefore I throw knock offs. My tourney partner will practice with knock offs and on tourney days switch to Senko's. When they're feeding it doesn't seem to matter. However, there have been days when the bite was tougher and the Senko was definitely the deal. We have never had it be the other way around where the knock off out performed the Senko. I liked the Gander Mountain brand as they made bulk packs and I have gotten some pretty decent ones on Ebay as well. However, I also bought a bad batch from Ebay too.
