  1. Hackney with a good one!! He mean mugged it and jammed it in the livewell. hahahaha
  2. I've got a Garmin on my boat as well. It has down scan but I rarely use it as I'm more comfortable with the 2D sonar. I mark any abnormality I see on the bottom, sometimes it's weeks before I get a chance to go back and check that area out. when I do I like to drive over it and then come back over at a 90 degree angle that way I can see it from different sides. (I also zig zag a lot) I find lots of underwater laydowns this way. You cross over one way and its just a bump on the screen, but come back the other way and now you can see the branchs/top of the tree. Sometimes it's a little depression but coming back across it I can see it's more like a ditch. Dragging my bait over the structure allows me to then also make a note of what I am feeling compared to what I am seeing. I find a lot of stray boulders on rocky points this way Just like reading a break on the green, practice is where you pick up the nuances. This is where you learn the size of the cone relative to depth, how long something stays in the cone at what speeds, boat control and boat how far off the structure you need to be to still hit it, how to use the wind/current to move you/the bait to where you want it to be, Can I tell on my sonar if that little blip next to the bump is a bass or not? Not at all sometimes in my gut I'm pretty sure but I will drop may bait down to try and find out
  3. Rapala DT 7 Flat sided crank you could get to hit in 14-16 ft very awesome at slowly crawling on bottom in the 10-12 foot range I'm hoping Ott brings it back
  4. 2D sonar and map study the 2 work together like peanut butter and chocolate They are each pretty good on their own, but used together and WOW (just had a couple reese's eggs) Sonar provides so much information and most anglers only use it for a depth finder. All of those little bumps, nooks, crannies, color changes and squiggly lines tell the story. I drop a waypoint on almost everything I see that is abnormal After checking the spot out I'll keep or delete it I then will change the waypoint name to indicate what I've found.
  5. I used to have that build up of anticipation It's lost now that I have moved I dont miss it ?
  6. It's a solid looking team. I took a couple guys that had a top 25 in an open there Hamner and Stracner I also picked Brandon Card as clear and rocky are like Norris lake where he grew up With temps warming this week, so should the fishing there!! Good Luck!!

  9. pretty good so far but 23rd is freaking awesome!!
  10. My neighbor told me to use bacon grease on the traps Although the same neighbor said he keeps a cup in the boat to dip his lures in So pretty sure he puts that stuff on everything
  11. That story is way more interesting than my sangle and dangle high school football story!! I can fish everyday but no way do I want to experience real angles and dangles under water
  12. In high school we had our names on our helmets, first initial and last name We had a couple of cousins Scott and Duane Angle Naturally, we had a coach that called them Sangle and Dangle Now they have an ale named after them lol
  13. The way they were talking it was gonna be a smash fest Full moon, warming trend ... ... ... I cant believe some people wasted 2 hours waiting to lock thru I bet someone gets caught in the lock running back and will be late
  14. I had the pleasure to marshal for G man, awesome experience I'm waiting for some 8 pounders to show up
  15. Let us know how it goes. My marshal experiences were pretty good
  16. His first year in BASS I picked him a few times and got burned. Hope it works out better for you. He's got a few years of experience on these lakes now too.
  17. I know this was based on your experience Pretty soon we'll be hearing you catching one like Randy Howell caught !!
  18. Not the first time I've been slow to catch on Maybe I should stop smoking my medicine? lol
  19. I helped release fish a few years on lake erie after multiple day tourneys. Sunday morning we collected all floaters. The majority had been fizzed, evident by the missing scales and puncture wounds (seems everyone knows how to jab a smallmouth with a needle, not everyone knows how to fizz) There was not a way to tell if the remaining fish were unfizzed, clipped, fizzed thru the mouth ... On subsequent tourneys where clips were used the amount of floaters were reduced each year In my own personal experience I have culled fish that have been on the clips for a few hours and they swam downwards without coming back up. I have never released a fish with air still in its bladder that did not immediately float back up. So in my experience clipping the fish gives it the best chance at survival in a livewell IMO fizzing should be left to trained professionals, not some weekend warriors
  20. Here's a story about Troy, he stinks at fishing apparently https://www.inforum.com/sports/northland-outdoors/minnesota-man-buys-billboard-ad-space-to-smack-talk-his-fishing-buddy
