  1. Saw this and it reminded me of this discussion
  2. Regular season overtime rules share the same stinky bathroom as the playoff rules. I mean, ties have to be the stupidest thing in professional competition
  3. I've used a deep diving crankbait to save a rod I've also used a metal stringer with all the hooks open and dragged that along the bottom as well (by some miracle I watched someone find their keys like this at the boat ramp) Although, I've lost a couple metal stringers that way cuz when they get hung, they are gonzo
  4. The rules are if during the tournament you weigh a fish multiple times that is above the minimum limit, the lowest weight is recorded. OR if you weigh a fish multiple times that barely weighs enough, the highest weight is recorded. I dunno, seemed like the scale that determined the winner was only right 1 of 3 times on the final fish???
  5. MLF is rolling out a new team tournament format. There will be 3 teams of 3 and each team will wear headsets this will allow them to communicate amongst team members For those with the Outdoor Channel this is set to air on April 2nd from 2-4pm there is a video announcement
  6. I live about a minute from Norris lake. I fish Cherokee a dozen times a year and they fish similar. (Douglas too, but I fish it less) Mix of smallmouth and large mouth, deep, clearish, rocky lakes Like all East TN lakes they are crowded, pontoons, jet ski's, boats pulling tubes and more bass fisherman than you ever thought possible. I love it here and any of the lakes around here have their pluses. If you're in the Tri-Cities area Watauga and Boone are great lakes too. BASS open on Cherokee starting Thursday will show the highs and lows
  7. When I poured concrete I had the luxury of working on the highways and bridges across Ohio. Imagine all those idiots driving on the road, now imagine all those idiots at your job. All those little pebbles constantly hitting you at 55 MPH kinda sucks But on the plus side you get an unlimited amount of exhaust fumes all day long
  8. About 50 degree air temps and slightly warmer water temps The jet ski's and the mosquito's come out at the same time
  9. When I fished the BFL's, I learned some hard lessons. Most guys camped/stayed at the lake for the week leading to the event Tourney pro's and Everstart Pro's fished the BFL's as well Every lake had multiple local hammers/guides entering as a one time event to make some cash Many fisherman are networked so they would share certain bits of information Some guys were ruthless and did not have an ounce of courtesy to them. There are no unwritten rules in tournament fishing. And here I thought this was the lowest tier of professional tournament fishing
  10. Since they split the top 20 into 2 groups of 10 the winner got an off day weights zeroed after yesterday He said with this weather he would be able to stay on his fish. Now he has this off day and will need to relocate his fish
  11. Yesterday Michael Neal figured out he was better off finishing 2nd. So he tried to not weigh anymore fish. However, Edwin Evers was already in the I dont want to weigh in anymore mode. Seems to have bit Edwin for the first half of the day he's made up some ground but is a far cry from the first day
  12. Very scary stuff, wishing you all the best CATT
  13. I hate to be the negative guy, but there was a whole lot of stupid going on.
  14. For anyone wondering this is the Redcrest format
  15. I mean ... craziest off season ever Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins, who's next?
  16. Back reeling is a lost art I fish some deep brush piles too light on the drag and you're dragged into snag city when I fish open water I'm more likely to have the drag a little looser and let them run
  17. Cox has 2 wins at the chick and a 9th, so he's got good history there
  18. I guess I'm the guy that blows up all the time I only have 1 brake on ( I use the green one and remove the other 3) If I'm casting into the wind, I'll mess with the spool tension knob (4 citicas and 1 old green curado)
  19. That is what you call a horrible tournament director and lazy fisherman In the electric motor only tournaments I started with, we had 2 weigh in tanks that were oxygenated, a release tank that was also oxygenated, a limited amount of weigh in bags(top halves of the bags are mesh, so they can be submerged in the tanks) this assured there was enough room in the weigh in tanks and guys not standing there with the fish in bags with little to no oxygen A good tournament will not let you weigh in a dead bass. The director makes sure from the time they leave the competitors boats until the time they are released, they get the best care they can. From the hook to the mesh weigh in bag its the anglers responsibility to keep the fish alive. Most tournament guys I know are extra fanatic about their fish care because they understand the value of the resource as well as the huge negative public perception of bass tournaments
  20. As a tournament fisherman you know, somebody is gonna win No matter the conditions someone is going to catch the biggest bag East wind, cold front, ice freezing on the guides, it wont matter Fishing is always a challenge, somedays more so than others
  21. I like it. don't like seeing high winds but some rain and cool weather make it like my weekends
  22. Just tuning in, el jobo keeps getting in the way
  23. I dont live on the lake and I dont have a water view. I do live less than a mile from the lake. I go fishing all the time(3-4 times a week), I didn't have to pay waterfront or water view prices My wife and I watch the sunset a couple times a week all summer from the water My father in law lives right on the water, has a dock and he kinda likes bass fishing enough to own a bass boat, have a dozen rods and fish a few local tournaments a year outside of those few tournaments he said he didn't have the bass boat in the water last year I think if you're a bass head, you'll find a way to go out
  24. I used to fish a little lake and every winter there would be dozens of ice fisherman taking 5 gallon buckets of panfish. Fast forward 20 years later and the bucket brigade is blaming the tournament fisherman they say the tournaments bring money to the lake, so they cater to those guys thats why there are no bluegill, perch or crappie in the lake never once do they consider they ravaged the panfish yet in the same sentence tell you about catching buckets full of fish, daily, every winter for years If you were catching hundreds of fish daily, you had more impact than any tournament would have. that's a lot of pressure by just 1 guy
  25. Only 2 made the century club this year so that puts Santee at 8 Still have 4 more to catch Falcon Think Caleb Kuphall will be haunted by only weighing 4 fish for 13 pounds day 2?
