  1. When I was new to tournament fishing, I often only brought one type of lure to practice with. This allowed me to focus on the bait I was using and allowed me to learn the nuances of each one. I was not able to do this until I left everything else at home because after a little while of not getting bit, I would always go back to something familiar. Not having anything but 6 different types of jigs tied on allowed me to get a feel of the bait How a football head feels dragged on the bottom or a swim jig feels thru the weeds or how different trailers affect the rate of fall. This helped me become a better fisherman. With that being said I was also fishing 12 hours a day, 3-4 days a week So I had the time and the resources to spend on learning new techniques This also taught me that I am more of a power fisherman by nature and should concentrate at learning some more finesse/slower presentations to be a more complete angler
  2. He said he didn't find any fish during practice so he went with a frog and cypress trees he said if he could get 5 bites a day they'd be the right ones he had that classic hangover IMO I usually try a pick an AOY contender and stick with him for my A bucket pick I've got Cobb and Palmer today. I'm done picking Canadians in largemouth tourneys Either I pick the wrong Johnson brother or Gussy chokes after day 1 (this probably ensures one of them to win the next event lol)
  3. As soon as the topwater bite starts, I wont turn my sonar on until Octoberish I've got a basic Garmin but it is crucial all winter I'm fishing for suspended fish and even with sonar it's darn near impossible to locate the school, stay on top of them without spooking them, catch one from the school, relocate the school you hear about firing the school up in the summer? in the winter catching one more often than not spooks them fishing from shore it would not be something I would use
  4. They are only paying him a little over 1 million next year. So when he's suspended, he wont lose much in game checks either. His lawyers gotta split 230 million at least 22 different ways now
  5. My old tourney partner rubbed mega strike on everything Seriously, if he fished with live bait I'd bet he'd still smear some on
  6. As a Browns fan sometimes I cry We went from Baker to the raper?
  7. Love how Drew cook is taking advantage of the forward facing sonar
  8. Looks like a lot of leaf users Plus, I dont want to try and explain how I left with underwear but returned home without any So I'm packing an EMG roll of TP
  9. Maybe just a tough day. Jason Christie only caught 1 fish yesterday Could have been mechanical also but he's got 1 today
  10. Blade bait. One of my largest bass was caught dragging the blade bait(Vib E) off the ice and into open water I was thinking that the current shouldn't be that strong as I was feeding it line and it kept moving away
  11. Hackney with a big bag
  12. I watch them both I also watch the NPFL, I watch The FLW Pro Circuit I wish they would stream the opens > even if it was only for the last day I'm a tournament junkie, before as a competitor and now as a fan I will say that out of all the coverage, the 2 cut days on the BPT are the most exciting IMO The worst thing about the BASS coverage is the long delay from the coverage to the weigh in I think the "dink fest" label that the BPT got was from that first season Since they moved to the minimum weight format the catches have been better I was butthurt when it all went down. I thought it was shady of Boyd and Gary inviting who they wanted to join the BPT It came off like a good ole boys club type of move, where if you were not in the "click" you were left on the outside. I didn't like the way they jammed the evil of weigh in tournaments down people's throats. I did like that they listened to the feedback they received. They stopped the bashing commercials after the first couple of events, they switched their format to have the minimum length, they bought FLW and now have a feeder trail and also requirements to keep your position on the BPT. So now less of the good ole boys club and more like an organization with a qualification process.
  13. I've always liked Gamma edge. I've tried a bunch of flouros with varied success and some user error Currently using various Sunline products(sniper and super) I use flouro for cranking because it sinks, for feel and for abrasion resistance* as I'm always grinding my cranks along the bottom. *as soon as I feel the tiniest abrasion, I retie* I also use flouro for fishing deep and clear applications Fishing deep I want the line to sink, I feel this leads to the lure having less of a pendulum effect and I feel the line is much more sensitive especially the deeper you go I also use a very short flouro leader when toad fishing, it acts like a shock absorber and I seem to have a much better hook up ratio I also had a personal experience on Lake Erie where I couldn't feel/get a bite until I started using my partners rod with flouro on it. ( I was even using a lighter lb test mono) When I fish at chickamauga or at guntersville I never use flouro except as the shock absorber So if I fished stained or weedy water I wouldn't have a need but since I fish deep clear rocky water- fluorocarbon gets a lot of use

  15. If I had the tiniest amount of your bass accolades, I'd be bragging ? People still run their mouth about this other Tom's accomplishments as well Even though he has the rings(photos) to prove it I am grateful that you are sharing your knowledge despite the haters and nay sayers

It looks like I can see some oozing on a couple but a couple look like they have larger voids too Any open seam where water can be pushed by the wind (I put some red dots where it looks like there is some caulk but cant be sure)

I think the issue was circled in the first image. Those cracks in the mortar cap can allow water to wick its way inside A steady rain coming from that side would speed up the process. When i looked at the pics it looked as if the flashing was caulked pretty good around the top The sides are caulked as well?
  18. Early day 3 of the classic, I was in 13th place overall for DTL. Then like many, my hopes were dashed when Christie won. Now I'm sitting 285th overall and this next tourney could be a smash fest that puts anyone into the mix
  19. I love crankbait fishing but wouldn't want to do it exclusively
  20. Christie is another notorious sandbagger/ under estimator. It's one thing to under estimate a 25 pound bag as a fat 4.5 and a skinny 5.5 could be close and total bag be off by 1 or 2 pounds But to be off 4 pounds on on a 17-18 lb bag? Maybe the marshal fat fingered a couple of the inputs?
  21. I'm not the type to care. I just put a shimano reel on a daiwa rod
  22. Wow, a couple of late changes helped my Drain The Lake team
  23. He grew that stupid mustache
  24. Strictly from a competitors stand point, the MLF format knowing what everyone else has, fishing to the last second puts a lot more pressure and I like that. The drama at the cut line is always a crazy nail biter. From a fans stand point, nothing like the drama of a five fish weigh in Did you see when Edwin Evers won Redcrest ? the largest event in MLF? He got to celebrate with his marshal and a camera guy And did you see when Ott Defoe won the Classic? largest event in BASS? He got to celebrate with his entire family in an arena full of people with confetti raining down
  25. 40-45 feet is my deepest this winter Although I was marking them in 50 feet, you have to stop the bait above them If it gets all the way down to them they get skittish/ I cant get bit keep it above them and they will come up to get it eventually By eventually, I mean on probably one out of five schools you can locate That deep water suspended bass is a picky eater
