  1. This happened a couple weeks ago to a TN angler and allowed him to win $200,000 on the FLW pro circuit: Literally, as I pulled up, there was a guy in a Jon boat that was slinging a topwater and he was like a half a cast away from my fish. I don’t think he knew what was there, but he was really close to finding out. “He was a total class act,” Washam said. “I pulled up and said, ‘Good morning.’ Of course, I was going to ask him as politely as I could if he minded giving me a little space for a couple hours. I didn’t even have to ask, he picked up the trolling motor and left. He came back as a spectator later, and come to find out, he works at the sheriff’s office in La Crosse.” https://majorleaguefishing.com/pro-circuit/washam-wins-tennessee-pro-takes-home-title-championship-belt/
  2. My niece is a freshman on the Ohio state band Which is why she was able to take this from the bleachers
  3. Congrats!! Did the strippers dress in camo, cuz I cant see them?
  4. Hate it for the long distance guys My normal routine is a left turn out the driveway and less than a half mile I'm putting in I have 7 ramps less than 10 minutes from me I think boats are more common than teeth around here
  5. This is how it usually goes for me So if it has 2 or more trebles, I'm using the gripper
  6. I solved that problem for around $10 They are nice for bass but really awesome for anything with teeth Keeps the catfish/drum slime off my carpet too
  7. I also do this a lot. Fish new/different areas of my home lake They drop the water here and as it falls different parts of the lake become the new shoreline This exposes many different opportunities There is a large rocky flat area thats in about 12 feet of water when the lake is at full pool Most of the time when its at full pool you might catch a fish here or there on it When the water falls and there is 5 ft of water or less on it, the crawfish have to move deeper Then it can become a smallie smash fest, if you time it right
  8. Awesome story about one of my favorite street skaters
  9. This boils down to the tournament directors and how they choose to run things. In the electric motor only tourneys I used to fish had 30-60 teams. Before the tourney was a working livewell check to make sure livewells were aerated. The Director had 4 huge tanks that were aerated and treated with sure life He provided 10 weigh in bags that were 1/2 mesh so that the fish kept in the bags could be held under the water at the tanks before weigh in. This assured fish were either in the aerated livewells or the aerated tanks. After the fish were weighed in they were placed in one of 2 holding tanks and then released (a state biologist said it would be better to release them at the shore instead of handling them multiple more times putting them back in livewells at transporting them to the middle of the lake to drop off) Any fish that did not make it were taken home/ donated to a spectator When I went to fish the BFL's and the Everstart series they were run the same way. A lot of tourneys down here are not held to that same standard but I dont see very many dead fish after those either
  10. I'm checking youtube just in case
  11. I'd like to see this study with ME casting to that 2/3 that stayed. I bet I spook more than 27% ? Fishing the toad a lot has taught me to always kill it a couple feet from the boat. It's like some sort of tunnel vision brought on by the chase I dont know if its the change in speed as it gets closer to the boat or if they think that if the bait makes it to the boat they cant eat it But I have had some absolute smashings right at the boat when killing the bait
  12. I am the backlash king. Most of my reels are almost set to a free spool I have removed 4 of the 6 brakes and only have 1 of the 2 brakes left turned on. Then I proceed to try and skip my toad in and around everything. Sometimes it gets ugly, sometimes I skip it 20 feet under a pontoon and get smashed Most of the time I'm complaining about sucking so bad for going so often ?
  13. Next year it will all come out. Both Powroznik and Ike elected to not fish BPT this year Both are likely to qualify for the elite series next year. **** Thats when we will hear that Boyd wouldn't let them buy out of their contracts like Palaniuk and Swindle did. 100% speculation on my part. ****
  14. It seems to me that everyone that loses thinks someone else had an advantage. I started fishing electric motor only tourneys. The guys complained that the only reason so and so won is because they run 2 101 lb thrust trolling motors and can beat people to their spots. Or that those 2 kids are spoiled, rich college kids and can spend 3-4 days a week practicing or because Jimbo's cousin paid someone for some waypoints .... The list of complaints went on and on as I fished the BFL's and the Everstart tourneys too. Guys complained because Tommy the Teacher had summers off or that Pete's parents were paying for all their entry fee's. Meanwhile, there were other guys that were tearing apart their every decision both on and off the water to try and find a better way. There were guys that were sacrificing the stability of having a "steady" job while they fished VS a job that gave them the chance to fish more. Sacrificing starting a family to have a chance at making it as a professional fisherman. Fishing is and will always be about you VS the fish. Too many people worry about what is in the other guys boat, instead of worrying how they could get better with what they already have.
  15. Yes, We have both smallmouth and largemouth here. Sometimes they are mixed together. I'll use a beefed up drop shot (Bubba shot) to target brush piles in deeper water This is a largemouth specific technique. For whatever reason, sometimes they suspend in the branches and wont chase something all the way to the bottom. (everybody and their brother will toss jigs and texas rigs so that may be why)
  16. I still catch a few fish every spring on a hot and tot that same color

  20. How do you not keep them all? We have 3 neighbor dogs that spend 3-4 nights a week at our house. My wife is like they're gonna get cold and wet I'm like well maybe they'll go home then So we've got 3 dog houses on the front porch now
  21. Great job!! You've earned it by putting in the work on the water and here trying to learn as much as you can!!
  22. Saturday I was fishing brush piles in about 17 ft of water in the middle of a cove 2 younger guys were fishing a tourney and running the shore close by but blanking I caught a couple decent fish and they both watched as I landed them So I waved them over, pointed out the brush piles, explained that when they start dropping the water in July the fish go deeper. They seemed genuinely appreciative. This is 100% the opposite approach that I would normally take But I never second guessed my choice and honestly feel pretty good about it Would they have ran over as soon as I left? Not sure But I've got a lifetime of karma I'm trying to turn around
  23. Got a few toads from this year that I've gotta fix with the soldering pen
