As a former tournament angler you find that no matter the conditions someone is going to win fishing the same conditions. To become a better tournament angler I focused on situations where locating and catching fish was the most difficult as I felt I had enough skills to compete with the better anglers on days when everyone was catching them.

Did you ever watch the Browns when they had Tim Couch or Johnny Manziel as the QB? Ever see 2 guards pull at the same time going in opposite directions, smash into each other and fall behind the center in a college game? That happened on a Tim Couch led Browns team.

I fish shallow a lot in the summer but if I'm not seeing baitfish in the water or skipping across the top, no birds on the shore line, I'm not making too many casts until I find a section that does have this activity. They drop my lake 20 feet so almost everything I am fishing now was out of the water 4 months ago I usually dont turn the electronics on most of the summer until I'm just catching dinks and have to move off shore

I like adding a used plastic on the back to give it more weight This seems to make my casting control a 100 times better I'm in the camp that whatever commotion is caused by the plastic is so minimal compared to the loud chunk of metal chopping the water it does not matter I've got a dozen paddle tails that lost their tail and I think they work great on both buzzbaits and chatterbaits

One pays him money the other does not. I am not so well off that I can prioritize free over something that earns money. If you can't make sense of that, I got nothing

Excellent post. This thread has been full of excellent advice and suggestions Yes, you can catch smallmouth on topwater toads. The toads can be rigged weedless/snagless to reduce hangups and are awesome to skip under anything

BASS has an off limits rule, it does not get broken until he fishes in the event. The anglers allegedly voted and it is rumored approx 50% voted that the rule be upheld. So the narrative that the anglers are pushing this is false because the organization already has a rule in effect. Is it true that BPT gave John Cox preferential treatment by placing him in group B when no one else gets to dictate which group they fish in?

I think they made the ruling when they wrote the rules, no special exemptions ever. Why have a rule when people can try to come up with some type of excuse to get around it? To me it just shows that BASS is a professional organization that has a set of rules that applies to everyone. By the BPT scheduling Cox to fish with group B so he wouldn't miss any BPT tourney time, makes me wonder what other type of "special" circumstances can individuals get and it completely eliminates the fairness of who fishes group A or Group B.

Seems like everything I've ever been involved in has had a time involved. My boat has a if you're late you buy lunch rule that is strictly enforced I worked at this Swagelok warehouse and they had a $25 dollar a month bonus that kicked in after 1 year of never being late or having an unscheduled call off. It kept increasing and was capped at $250. There was a maintenance man that did not miss a day for 10 years and was getting the max. Then he got t-boned at an intersection 1 block from work by an executive. He sued the company but not sure what happened as I left that job to pour concrete. They also had this thing called Swagelok time which was 10 minutes fast. In a section with lots of warehouses all with first shift ending at 5 o clock, this was an awesome perk to get ahead of traffic.

It could be that BASS is taking the stand of we are not having a separate special ruling Next thing you know, more people are gonna have some sort of circumstance come up and they are gonna want a special ruling too.

Thats the problem with the co angler thing- you're at the mercy of the guy driving the boat. Although he "screwed" his co angler, he did so within the framework of the rules.

He fished in the BPT event at the St Lawrence River this week. Which is during the off limits period for BASS anglers as they will fish there in 2 weeks. The BPT event took out of Messena NY and BASS will launch from Waddington approx 20 miles away. Allegedly there was a vote and half of the BASS field wants him disqualified from the event. Should he get to fish or not? For me even though I like the guy, I say no. Rules are rules .

I think I've tried them all. I like more action so a horny hoad is pretty much last. I like the keitech noisy flapper and the rage tail toad but have pretty much settled for buying humping toads in bulk from ebay for cost . I'll use a wood engraver to remelt where there hook tears thru the nose and the spots I bury the point into.
