Dobyns Champion 704 crank rod glass vs graphite
After the last unrelated response to my post, I can rely on you for some insight into the 704. What specific baits are you throwing on the 704. Type of line? Thank you! Neither of these responses are very helpful regarding my actual questions. Sheesh dude, you take a long time to not say much. Haha

4lb Line Choice- P-Line CXX or Izorline CXX?
4lb Trilene XL is the best UL line I've tried so far. It's my main UL line for both bass and trout

U-40 drying
Cleaning has nothing to do with sealing, and protecting the cork. Cleaning doesn't protect from filler coming out, or the cork being less prone to chipping.

Dobyns Champion 704 crank rod glass vs graphite
They compare the graphite 704 to a Loomis MBR 842, which is my current crank stick. That's interesting

Dobyns Champion 704 crank rod glass vs graphite
I have a broken Dobyns Champion that I am looking to warranty through Dobyns, and want to get a Crankbait rod. They have two of the same rods (704) with a glass and graphite option. I want to throw 1/4 to 3/8oz square bills, mid depth (up to 10' max baits), and maybe 1/2oz poppers. I am edging towards the graphite version, but I am curious if anyone has ever tried both? I will be using 12lb FC, or 20lb braid to 12lb FC with it.

U-40 drying
I tried the U-40 I added water to on the fore grip of a new rod. The coverage seems the same, but it doesn't seem to have made the cork as dark or as "hard" as it usually would. You guys who use it know what I mean by hard. Also it doesn't have as much shine as usual. So it seems like adding water makes it a little less effective to me. Although I haven't used it out on the water yet.

U-40 drying
I have a jar that is about 4 years old that seems to be drying up a bit. It's become pretty thick, and difficult to spread. Anyone ever add a little water to it, and shake it up since it's water soluble?

Reel to pair with IMX Pro 843c MBR
I have three of these rods, after pairing with Met B, Alphas sv800, and a Zillion G, I would say my favorite reel with the 843c is the Zillion. However all of these reels are great on there. It's one of the best rods out there IMO. I love setting the hook on jig fish with it. It's also a great spinnerbait rod, in addition to tons of other presentations.

gloomis 842c glx mbr vs 843c cbr imx pro?
I use my GLX 842c MBR rod for cranks a lot, primarily smaller baits though. I'm talking Bandit 100, Bandit 200, my beloved Rebel Wee R, and Fritt Side. It's also a nice Pop-R, 1/4oz tube, and 1/4oz MiniMax Chatterbait rod. It's not my favorite for jigs w/weed guards or t-tigs, it's a little too soft for me.

Expride light + reviews
I have an Expride A light +, I use it for Ned rigs, small cranks, 1/16 beetle spin, 3.5” original Rapala. It’s my favorite ned rig rod. In my opinion, it’s a nice unique rod. It is somewhere between a light and a medium light just as the + states. I have a light version of the new line on order. I have read in a few reviews people saying that they are closer to a medium light than the older version.

Baitcasting setup for lighter weight lures?
Dobyns Champion 702 with a Daiwa Tatula 70. Not sure how well it will cast a true 1/16oz bait, but around 3/16oz to 1/2oz it will shine. Put 20lb braid on this rig and it will be very versatile. 702 rods are around $200 right now on tackle warehouse!

What makes the 844c mbr great for topwater?
I have two 844 mbr rods, I primarily use them for jigs, swim jigs, t rigs, whopper ploppers, and occasionally for not heavy cover frogs. Since every one fishes differently it would depend on how the guy you’re talking about uses his 844. Find out the baits he uses that rod with and you will get your answer for his uses. Can’t go wrong with that rod for tons of stuff.

What makes the 844c mbr great for topwater?
Didn't read what he said dude. The person the OP quoted stated the 844 is his favorite top water rod.

Daiwa 21 Zillon SV TW owners
As far as feel goes, not much difference. The speed is the only difference I see. I love the fast line pickup, I use them for jigs, t rigs, buzzbaits, and shaky heads. I mostly fish in a kayak, so I really like the fast take up for solid hook sets. Kayaks move a little bit on hook sets, so getting in the right position is very important to me.
