What’s the last rod/reel you purchased that you ended up regretting?
St Croix 6'8" MHF Legend Tournament bass rod. It was so tip heavy, and stiff I sold it after a week of fishing it. It was beautifully put together, with excellent components but it was so uncomfortable for me. My Legend Tournament Walleye spinning rod is so totally fantastic, I was surprised by how much the LTB rod was not for me.

Prepping for ice out...
Jig, spinner bait, chatterbait, swim jig, swimbait on a belly weighted under spin hook.

Daiwa Steez Limited and New Alphas
I agree. The original Curado 70 and the MGL 70 are nothing alike to me. I had two original 70 reels, and thought they felt rough, and had too small of a handle. The MGL with the new spool, gears, and handle feels fantastic to me. It's such a better caster too.

Kistler Helium 73LMH
I had the 6'9" and thought it had a weird taper. I actually really disliked that rod.

What’s the last rod/reel you purchased that you ended up regretting?
Two Kistler rods. Both were bought on sale, and both had a weird taper that I couldn't hang with and too small of guides for me. I sold both after two outings with them. They seem so over priced to me.

Replacing tip top on an older G Loomis 844c IMX
What’s a good method of heating? Is a hair dryer hot enough?

Replacing tip top on an older G Loomis 844c IMX
Hello I need to replace the tip top on an older G Loomis 844c IMX. It's been 37 years since I wrapped a rod, and have no idea about sizing. From some research I've done I believe I need a 6 5.0 size tip. Can anyone confirm this? Also it seems like some sites list the tips in a confusing way. Is there another way they are measured that I'm missing? Thanks!

Big difference in 200 vs 400 dollar reels?
Sell off some camera gear, and buy all new fishing gear. That way you can have two slippery slopes to slide down.

Finishing your FG Knot
I can tie an FG with two half hitches, and rizzuto in a minute. These knots were 30lb Power Pro to 12, 15, and 20lb FC leaders, after two 7hr days of fishing. I don't know of any other knot this strong. You guys who can't tie it love to complain about it. I'm a knot nerd, so I love it.

Dobyns Champion XP 704c
I just got a Champion 705, and really like it. I haven't fished it yet, but it feels great and well balanced. To me it feels just a hair heavier than my two Loomis IMX 843 MBR rods. It seems to have a somewhat similar taper too. Nice rod.

I received my first shipment from the Tackle Warehouse location in Georgia
That is an unrelated company. Tackle Warehouse not Tackle Direct

Dobyns Ultra Finesse/BFS rods out now
There seems to be many different ideas about what BFS is.

I received my first shipment from the Tackle Warehouse location in Georgia
I live in Chicago, and received my rod in 3 days, it was shipped from the location in Georgia. It cut down about 5 days from shipping it from Cali. Good news for the midwestern and east coast people.

Tips For Reducing "Wind Knots" With Light Braid ?
I routinely use 8lb and 10lb original Power Pro, and never get wind knots. Three things to do: 1-Always close your bail by hand 2-Don't over fill your spool 3-Don't cast too hard. really whipping the cast will cause you more problems than it's worth.

A popular bass rod power/type that you personally don't find a use for?
I have no use for a dedicated cranking rod. Don't have much need for it.

New Baitcaster Is Stiff
My two Curado 70 MGL's were stiff out of the box too. They had quite a bit of grease in the bearings. I cleaned it out, oiled them, and now both are incredibly smooth and quiet. I also cleaned out all the grease on the gears, and replaced it with fresh grease, but less than was on there. Both reels were kind of jammed with grease.

Daiwa Tatula 150
I love the Tatula 150! I throw 6.8" Keitech and beast hook (about 1.5oz), R2S 168 (about 1.5oz), and chatter baits with it. Three years in, and it's as smooth as day one. Regular maintenance only, and it's solid. Casts really easily, and far.

what is the best spinner bait rod?
I also prefer a Loomis 843c MBR

Blade Bait Rod?
Been looking at that rod for years. What baits do you like it for? I haven't been able to get one in my hands yet. Is it similar to the JWR taper at all?

Daiwa Tatula 100 versus Daiwa Tatula Elite?
For me the SV is a much better reel that can do everything better and smoother than a 100. Plus it can cast light baits so much better.

Daiwa Tatula 100 versus Daiwa Tatula Elite?
For me the SV TW reels are a big upgrade from the 100. Worth the extra money. You can usually find them on eBay for around $170

Daiwa Tatula 100 versus Daiwa Tatula Elite?
You should consider the SV TW reels too. Excellent reels.

Suck at the alberto knot...Options?
I just tied about 10 Shin Knots. It's probably the easiest connection knot to tie. The knot I tie 100% of the time is the FG knot, but this knot is so small and easy I might try it next season. Does anyone have real world experience fishing it? It seems very strong.
