Your Old Standards
Baits change with the seasons, but there are some I almost alway have rigged up. *Jig *Swim Jig *Some kind of soft swimbait on a belly weighted hook/ or belly weighted hook w/under spin *t rig of some sort *chatterbait *some top water bait * Ned rig/small shaky head if there aren’t weeds around.

I moved away from kistler. that price increase seems like rip off. I get a bad vibe from them.

Using rods for out of spec uses??
I recently watched some guy on YouTube bashing a rod company because a ML rod he bought rated 1/8-3/8oz broke on a cast. He was throwing a 1/2oz chatterbait + trailer. That’s not a good way to test a rods worth. As long as you rod loads up on a cast on the light end of the ratings you’re good, even if it’s below the rated weights. I would be more careful going above the high end of the rated casting weights.

Jig weight
I bought a digital scale 3 years ago, and started checking all my bait weights. I found most commonly available jigs, like the 1/4oz strike king Bitsy Flip + trailer like a 3.5” beaver weight about 3/8oz. A War Eagle flipping jig + trailer usually is about 3/4-1oz. In general I found all jigs to weigh more than their listed weight. Knowing the actual weight allows you to know what weight to throw for the rate of fall you want, and to stay in your rods recommended casting weights.

Returned the Shimano SLX XT, need a replacement
The Tatula SV is a beautiful reel. Zero issues with 4 I have. Great caster, super smooth retrieves. You will love that type R too. I use Curado K reels too. Nice also.

Copolymer--opinions?
McCoy is a fantastic line, with the least memory issues I have witnessed in any line. Abrasion resistance is great. It lays out on the water without coils. It’s a nice slick line too, very quiet. I also use it as a leader on braid, and it works well in that application. I was an XL user since I was a kid but switched over about 4 years ago. XL is still a great line tho.

Lizards
6” zoom t rigged with an unpegged bullet weight is killer in the summer.

Power Pro Super Slick V2
It’s fantastic line. I’m an avid power pro original user, and it’s great line. I tried SS V2 this year and find it a little better than the original. It doesn’t flatten at all, so it handles really well in all sizes.

Daiwa Tatula SV Spool Concerns/Questions...???
Those Daiwa Tatula SV TW reels are incredible (both the older ones and the new ones). Don't worry about it, they perfrom well from light to heavy stuff without issue.

Rod for Shimano Curado K, and braid questions
30lb braid is fine to use. I never experience dig in at all. Check out the Daiwa Tatula casting rods. The 7'1" MH would suit you. The Curado rods are nice too, the 6'10" or 7'2" MH would also suit you. Both are high quiality, well made rods.

Soft plastic swimbaits
I use the Cabela's Swim Minnow that comes in 3.5" and 5". I mostly use the 5", except for when using an underspin weighted hook, then the 3.5" Over all I guess I'll against the grain and say the 5" in that style bait for most of the applications you mentioned. It will catch 12" bass as well 5lbers and everything in between.

Soft Plastics - What are your set ups?
Loomis 843c with a Daiwa Tatula SV 103, 30lb braid to 15lb leader. I run my baits both pegged and unpegged. This rig can also cast weightless Senko/stick baits well too.

3600/3700 cases help?
I recommended these because they work great and are very inexpensive. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Plano_Pro_Latch_Utility_Box_3601/descpage-P3601.html There isn't really a good way to "repair" your old boxes. IMO Also, they will fit right next to your older Plano boxes too.

3600/3700 cases help?
These shallow Plano boxes don’t let even small drop shot hooks under the dividers. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Plano_Pro_Latch_Utility_Box_3601/descpage-P3601.html

Old bass lures
How do those metal lips on those Rapala's stay on after a few good fish battles? Those are cool looking lures.

Shimano poor quality control?
I miss the older Shimano Symetre reels. The kind of blue ones were super solid reels. Never had an issue with them.

What size braid should I go with?
If 832 go with 10, if Power Pro 15. I just tried Power Pro V2 Super Slick and it's fantastic. I usually use regular PP tho. 832 is a thicker line.

Call out to reel customizing nerds
I'm asking if anyone has used it not if it fits. Opinions on actually using it.

Calling Curado K owners - Lighter baits and worm gear
I see you feel like you need a leader longer than 6', got it. I have Daiwa, and Shimano casting reels, regardless of which reel I use I never feel the need to have the connection knot go into the reel.

Lots of sudden failures on Alberto knot
Every knot fails when not tied correctly.

Light braid working well on my casting rig
I love it. I have never used BFS gear, and I don’t believe this is light like true BFS rods. i basically wanted a ML rod to throw light baits instead of my spinning setups, and this is fantastic for that application. I wouldn’t want to throw anything lighter than an 1/8oz ball head jig with it. It’s very well made, has micro guides, but my FG knot flies through the guides with no issues. The handle is perfect, and I love the taper. It’s a fast rod, but definitely not extra fast. It’s awesome setting the hook with this nice light casting setup. It can handle light jigs great too. I had a 1/4 + trailer bitsy bug on it , and it handled it great. Unfortunately I didn’t get any fish with it, the fish only want moving baits lately.
