  1. Tatula rods are excellent. Don't have a 100, but other Tatulas are killer.
  2. Try a G Loomis JWR rod, they have a great taper. You will have plenty of backbone.
  3. 5 Loomis casting: 2-843c MBR 1-863c JWR 1-783c MBR 1-782c MBR OR Dobyns XP 702c 1-spinning 1-St Croix LWS66 ML OR Daiwa Tatula 66 Medium
  4. Cabela's sells them
  5. I'd get a G Loomis IMX-Pro 843c MBR. You can do anything with it, and do it well. Jigs, swimjigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, belly weighted swim baits, poppers, spooks, weightless senko, and even moderate cover frogging.
  6. Thanks. I usually use and MBR, and sometimes use JWR too. I’m used to them. You think it would make a good 1/4oz jig, 1/4oz shaky head rod?
  7. Flipping, pitching, T rigs are not really usually finesse presentations, but a great rod for what you want to do would be a G loomis JWR 802c or 852c. I would also recommend a Daiw SV tw with this rod.
  8. What type of finesse application are you interested in using a casting rig for?
  9. Anyone every use a G Loomis IMX-PRO Spinnerbait Casting Rod 812C SBR? G Loomis E6x Spinnerbait Casting Rod 812C SBR? Looking into them, but have never held one.
  10. I've never had one melt through out super hot summer time weather. I don't do anything special, I just keep them in the bag they come in, inside my tackle bag.
  11. You asked specifically if the reel doesn't work with braid to leader. Can't help you if your post is so unclear.
  12. Is it possible you are setting the hook too soon? It can be a tricky bite, with all the splashing. You may be pulling the frog out of the fishes mouth too soon.
  13. Braid to leader is causing your brakes to not operate properly? Not possible.
  14. I would suggest a Daiwa Tatula spinning rod (cork handle) in 7' medium, with a Tatula LT 3000 shallow spool reel. These rods are fantastic, and the combo together is super light and sensitive. The rods remind me of my old Loomis SJR, but are a little bit lighter in weight and better balanced. You will have a lot of money left over for line, lures, etc. too.
  15. In my experience with rods, the more of any weight on the blank will lessen the sensitivity. Guides, wraps, gloss all add weight. I'm also a guitar player for 35 years. Guitar players have as many opinions about finish on guitars as bass fisherman have about which is the better type of line.
  16. I switched to a VMC Neko hook when they came out, and haven't had one fish shake a hook since. I like the longer shank of that hook.
  17. I had a 68MHF 6'8" medium heavy fast. It was very well made, and looked great. It was so tip heavy that I couldn't fish it for more than 1hr. I tried it with a Curado K and Tatula 150, both medium to heavier reels. Sold it after 3 outings. The LTB rod have a little history of being tip heavy. I learned that after I bought mine.
  18. The MBR rods were designed to be used for jigs, t-rigs and similar applications. The JWR is a newer taper for G Loomis. There are lots of people who prefer a fast action to an extra fast action for jigs. I agree to each his own style.
  19. I have both the MBR and JWR rods.
  20. Cool thanks! I don't know the history of all the Daiwa reels. Is there a place that has the reels in order of when they came out that you know of? Daiwa makes a lot of reels.
  21. All these line threads/posts are redundant. No line type is "best", "better" or the "only line" They are all different, and should be considered different. Use what you like.
  22. There's a big difference in the older version and the V2. V2 is quite good line.
  23. Is that an older reel pre-TWS line guides?
  24. I can't imagine that being the case. I have five 3 power loomis rods that have a ton of backbone and ARE jig rods. 2-IMX, 1-GLX, and 2 IMX-Pro.
  25. Yes. Braid to leader on casting gear works great. I do it on 80% of my set ups.
