  1. Creature bait wise I go with the Reaction Innovations...... Paddletails are Keitech's but I have recently purchased some Yamamoto swimbaits.
  2. My first MegaBass rod was a Levante. It broke during their recall and the place I bought it gave me a great upgrade deal on the OrochiXX since they had no idea how long I'd be waiting for a Levante replacement. Best and worst thing to happen to me. I now have nine OrochiXX's...........so in the long run the great replacement deal made that business a lot of money off of me!
  3. Me too. Had a friend recently get fouled up in a blowdown in heavy current and flip his Hobie. He fought like hell to keep his head above water while he unhooked his rainsuit hood from the tree branch. He WAS wearing a PFD and told me it saved his life for sure. I already always wore a PFD but this made me switch back to a regular one from the auto inflate I wore all last year. I've never been in a Jackson but every kayak has it's pluses and minuses. My SS is a bit of a twister in the wind when I'm trying to stay in one spot in winds over 10 mph but I will never understand how people have the issues with paddling and tracking. Does is paddle and track like an Atak, no. But I have no issue getting it cruising right along quickly and in a straight line. If you think the SS is a barge try one of those 40" wide Nucanoe's.
  4. So very true.........my main fishing water is a large quarry. For the last several years by June the visibility is about 10 feet or so in most spots. The thermocline has been around 16-feet give or take a foot over those years. Last year for the first time I can remember they decided to do a weed kill. The water was murky all summer and was still murky when it iced over. All summer the shallowest thermocline was about 20 feet. Go figure.
  5. If there's still muddy water where there usually isn't muddy water I'd toss a spinnerbait through that for sure....close to cover.
  6. Senko's or a reasonable facsimile seem to work more than most. I'm partial to some sort of swim jig.......regular swim jig, chatterbait, underspin, even a straight paddletail on a weighted keel hook.
  7. I bought one spool. I can get two reels loaded if it works out on the first one. If not, I tried.
  8. A couple summers back I tried FC and hated it. Backlash after backlash. I'm sure I bought the cheapest I could find though. Yesterday I put some Tatsu 12lb on on of my crankbait rods. I soaked it up with KVD line conditioner too. LOL Next outing I'll be using it for some of my heavier crankbaits, like a lipless and I also turned up the brakes a bit so I don't forget in the moment of truth.
  9. I have an SS127, had a Ghost 130 and an Atak 120 before that. I'm not up there with you but I'm 57, 5-09 235 and absolutely love the SS. Most stable of the three but also I always have the seat in the high position. At first I thought it was too high but after the first trip out realized the SS was so stable it didn't matter. In the high position it is extremely easy to stand up and sit down both on the water and when getting in and out.
  10. I'm very scientific and particular. I tighten it all the way and then back about a quarter turn.

I usually go slower,,,,,,,maybe I'll add smaller now too.
  12. Haha, you are bored!
  13. Mine is 7'0 but I doubt you would notice a difference in the two lengths.
  14. Like you I also love the jig! Couldn't get a bite on them yesterday in my first outing of the year, they loved the spinnerbait though. Can't wait for that first jig bite.
  15. Always on a jig, always on a spinnerbait.
  16. My first outing of 2021 was today. I brought 5 but used 2. If I would have brought 2 I would have needed 3.......lol
  17. By the end of any given fishing trip I have a lot of my JJ's Magic stored by soaking it into my pants.
  18. Exactly! There's also MegaBass...........
  19. I think a jig works more often.......but I like both
  20. Mostly a shad color with two silver or a silver and a gold willow blade. Keitech 3.8 Impact Fat trailer. That's probably 80% of my use. The other 20% would be a white/chartreuse skirt.
  21. Ordered a pair that arrived yesterday. I'll be on the water tomorrow with them!
  22. What have you tried? I use my heavier rated crankbait rod for small to medium sized baits. It's a Levante Flatside Special.
  23. Arkie style or a swim jig to work through the grass.
  24. I'd say go for the Swingfire but good luck finding one right now.
  25. Same here but one for bottom contact like Arkie and football and another for swim jig, chatterbaits, underspins.
