A couple summers back I tried FC and hated it.  Backlash after backlash.   I'm sure I bought the cheapest I could find though.

Yesterday I put some Tatsu 12lb on on of my crankbait rods.  I soaked it up with KVD line conditioner too.  LOL

 

Next outing I'll be using it for some of my heavier crankbaits, like a lipless and I also turned up the brakes a bit so I don't forget in the moment of truth. 

 

Couldn't being myself to spend the money on tatsu. Trying Sufix Advance Flouro this year.  There are lots of good reviews on the web.

I bought one spool.  I can get two reels loaded if it works out on the first one.  If not, I tried.

 

Went out for a short time on Tuesday to try the new FC with a crankbait....no issues at all.  Casts great and no backlash.   I even turned the brakes back down every few casts.........

I spooled the rest of it on my jerkbait rod/reel and will have both rods out tomorrow.  I'll probably purchase another spool for my other crankbait reel and maybe put some on my swim jig/chatterbait rod too.

   My experience is the same as your. A few years ago, I tried FC line, and instantly became anti-FC. But some people convinced me that things had improved, and I tried InvizX. Bingo! I'm now a fan.

   I guess sometimes things change a lot faster than we know.         jj

Wow you exprienced exactly like me, I did same thing and now I am going to use Tatsu 10lb test for my crank and jerk baits. I am just waiting for my new reel. It will be my only FC set up in my all combos.

Ya - a couple years ago I tried a few different FCs - tossed them all and went mono/YZH.

 

This year, I'll have InvizX on two reels (different #-tests) and Tatsu on one reel (thank you kind sir for sending it to me). We'll see how it goes.

 

Tatsu is really going to have to impress me for me to justify the cost next year...I may go all InvizX - if it performs adequately.

Thats interesting, How many of us go trough same experience. So I assume there is high percentage of angler had same process.

 

Same experience here.  Just bought 600 yards of Invisx to try and prove previous findings wrong.

I use seagar red label and don’t have any issues with backlashes. And it’s cheap line

Hope you're right, Andy. The spool of 15# Tatsu was gifted to me by a member here. Going on my jig/moving bait rig. We'll see how it performs.

For you fluoro fans, what makes fluoro worth it to you? Or Dens, what convinced you to try it again? Going to keep my own opinion out of this and just listen.

Funny a few years ago, I did the opposite.  What I have left of YoZuri Hybrid is used for backing.   Whatever they changed to the line made it unmanageable.  I used 12lb and 6lb.

 

I have been using Invizx and Tatsu ever since but I recently picked up Daiwa's FC and I like it so far.

What makes FC worth it for me is that it lasts longer (usually 2-4 times as long as mono) and it tends to stay pretty consistent throughout it's life span.   I can go through a mono spool in about 30-60 days.  FC will last one to two years. With Tatsu, I had it last about 4 years on one reel.

Better longevity, as mentioned above, and better sensitivity while still maintaining similar enough stretch and knot strength characteristics. Characteristics don't fluctuate near as much as mono between wet and dry states. A little stiffer, but if you're a good caster, then that's close enough to mono/hybrid, too.

I use fluorocarbon whenever I can because:

 

-I get at least two seasons out of it unless I do something stupid (like pull out a birds nest over a bush, I've done that)

-Better sensitivity (plus sensitivity on slack line).

-I never have any problems with knots breaking or casting issues.

-Consistent stretch.

-I fish mostly clear water and the invisibility has to help somewhat.

 

Legit reasons not to use fluorocarbon,

 

- The cost.

- Some fluorocarbons are trash. No idea why people still use these ones in this day in age. There's several decent fluorocarbon variants that are acceptable and any I see listed above is among that list.

I fish a lot of very clear water quarries.......some are strip quarries that aren't very deep, some are.......some are somewhere in between.  The constant is the water clarity.   I'm not a total believer in line shy bass but hey, I'm not a total non believer.  Prior to this try I'm a braid guy.  Plus, I love tinkering with stuff..........change this, change that, change back..........lol

I love Tatsu. Braid to leader makes it a little more cost friendly. Or if I don't want to mess with a leader, cheap mono backer with 50 yards of Tatsu.

Nothing like Floro to make me a hypocrite.  One day I'm bad mouthing the stuff, and the next day I'm using it.  If someone doesn't like my opinion about florocarbon, just wait a couple days, like the weather my opinion is sure to change.

I don't find it any more "sensitive" than Big Game.

 

Without KVD spray it coils worse the the old orginal Stren. But I did find like Big Game the more you use it the less it coils.

 

Knot strength has been a none issue but I know how to tie a Palomar without letting the lines cross.

 

The only major issue right now is under certain sky conditions & water clarifies I can't see it!

 

Cost isn't a factor unless I backlash, I don't backlash often but when I do get the knife out.

 

Right now InvizX seems to be the one.

Oh, but it is! True story:

 

I was 100% a Big Game person, and had been for like 20 years. One day I’m out in the boat fishing football jigs with Jacob Wheeler, and he’s kicking my butt. He’s telling me “throw over here,” “feel all those rocks?” I’m like, “No.” 

 

He hands me his outfit, and wow, there they are. Night and day difference. I get popped, catch a fish and start wondering just what I’ve been missing (bites, “feel,” bottom comp changes, etc.).

 

I kind of write it off to his equipment, just using a more sensitive/higher end rod (Loomis) than me (All-Star). But he’s using all Seaguar fluoro lines (at the time, InvizX). So, next day I buy a spool of the same stuff, pound test he had and respool the jig outfit I was using. Back to the same lake, and Holy cow, I can feel it all on my outfit, too. Night and day difference, again.

 

Needless to say, that was the summer I switched and became a 100% fluoro person. That’s been about 10-12 years ago, and I haven’t looked back since.

Down here on the Gulf Coast our bottom maybe firm it's far from hard. With 15# InvizX & a 1/4 oz bullet weight in 4' of water ya ain't feeling nothing but the bass picking it up.

 

Next weekend it's Toledo Bend with sandy red clay bottoms, shell beds, some rock, brush, & timber.

Just got back from 2 hours at a pond with Sufix Advance Flouro..line  behaves and casts well. Didn't catch anything so I may add more to this tommorrow. Line  didn't coil up coming off the spool.  I don't use any line spray.line seemed very sensitive bumping around the bottom.

Many fluoro lines and most in the premium category are stiffer and less manageable.  That’s why many of these new digital casters have settings for braid, mono, and fluoro.  Tatsu is one of the few premium lines that is very manageable.
