  1. St Croix and MegaBass. My rod arsenal is pretty much split down the middle with those two brands.
  2. I'm going to force myself to bring a drop shot rod out each time. I didn't say use it, baby steps! LOL
  3. I'll stick with my Orochi XX's.
  4. I have merino wool thermals in three different weights. In my opinion merino wool is the best choice hands down. They are comfortable and still retain warmth when wet.
  5. I didn't like mine at first. But I did a little different than your plan, I set the spool tension to just where the side to side started. I also think the ultra thin braid is the main culprit.
  6. Well I'm from Illinois and very famous! I have 23 subscribers on Youtube! LOL Yes I am completely joking.....about being famous, not the 23 subscribers........hahahha
  7. MB Sexy Shad. And if you think the bass won't suspend off structure in deeper water prior to the cold your missing out on some big fish. I catch some nice bass fishing drop offs where the bass suspend right above the thermocline when the sun is high in the sky. I use both throughout the year. I just start out opposite. Colder water I start deeper then work shallow as the water warms from the sun. Warm water I start shallow and go deeper as the sun comes up. Of course clouds, wind, air temp, etc can change all that! LOL
  8. My bottom jigging rod is 7.3:1 Swim jig is 6.3:1, I use this for bladed jigs too.
  9. They hit different depths so I would go with a yes. I have both and the +2. Sexy Shad is my best producing.
  10. 1/4 oz, but only a couple and they aren't as tight. The beauty of the design is they aren't going anyway, they just wiggle a bit.
  11. I can't tell you about whether yours will fit, but I can tell you I finally found the perfect jig box. Especially since I fish jigs more than anything else so I have many
  12. $$ wise it would be jerkbaits, numbers wise would be spinnerbaits.
  13. It's on my frog/punching rod. I like it.
  14. You couldn't pay me to go to any store this week.....lol I only have one spinning rod. I'm going to force my impatient self to use it for dropshot this coming year.
  15. Ahh, I am talking casting....... And I did get it at Cabela's!
  16. Thanks.
  17. Thanks. I looked at some Garmins sold near me at BP and Cabela's and they only seem to come with coastal or Canadian maps. Maybe it's a clearance thing but kind of strange considering I live in the midwest!
  18. Umm, the BassX.....Isn't that the model?
  19. Which Garmin is comparable to the Elite TI2?
  20. I actually use a MH/Moderate BassX for wacky and other weightless plastics. It works well.
  21. When I'm fishing around home I prefer nice silence. When I spend a week up in northern Wisconsin on a large lake each summer I pretty much listen to whatever is blaring out of the speakers of each ski boat as it comes flying by. LOL
  22. Scooted away because they saw the braid land on the surface or because the heard/felt the line slap hit the surface?? I don't know the answer but to play devils advocate braid, mono, flouro would have all caused the line slap on the surface.
  23. FWIW probably 80% of my fishing is in quarries where often you can see the bottom 10 feet down. A while back I posted about using a jig in one, thinking I was snagged I paddled my yak over and saw I had hooked a bass that had wrapped my line around submerged roots of a tree stump about 8-10 feet down. I was able to watch as I slowly applied pressure from right above and unwrapped it from around the snags and brought the bass in. The point of my story is that I was using straight 30 pound braid. This was in a quarry that many say is hard to fish but I have success there mainly due to fishing it a lot. The visibility of braid certainly doesn't hurt my fishing there.
