  1. I think you'll be fine, I also like a high ratio reel for frogging. I'm 5-09 and fish from a kayak also, my rod is 7-03 and I use it with no problem.
  2. I use a jig whenever possible, I just catch bigger bass with it. If it is just to thick to get jigs through I will go T-rig but have also utilized the rage rig this summer with great success in the thick stuff.
  3. Two places that I put my kayak in to fish are so bad that the spray is right next to me in the truck and I spray down immediately after I step out of my truck to keep from being eaten alive in the ten minutes it takes me to get on the water.
  4. Ha, I really like the 110, don't like the 90, so now I ordered two 75's.
  5. I should add that this past Friday I was throwing a spinnerbait into fairly thick vegetation with good success. At first it was frustrating ripping it through and having to pull a bunch of stuck vegetation every few casts until I caught this on a War Eagle Extreme Trokar in 3/8's.

I just started using poppers the last few weeks too. I was having good success. The only problem I had a few outings ago a few egrets flew over as I was using it and then they started diving on the popper to the point I had to keep quickly pulling it away from them. LOL
  7. Like said above, the reel specs or for capacity. I use 30 and 65 lb braid on my reels. The 30 is on all my reels except one.
  8. I use a swim jig in that situation.......if it's really thick I'll use a screw lock weighted swimbait hook instead of a jig.
  9. Friday and today on two different bodies of water I used spinnerbaits and crankbaits to cover the water until I found them. I keyed on areas with steep drops, or relatively steep and worked the water column from top to bottom until I found them.
  10. 6th Sense jigs, the Hybrid and the Divine Swim jig, two types, one size, several colors, that's all I use. I make changes to them by changing the trailer.
  11. I use: MH/Moderate with a Quantum 7:3 for weightless plastics MH/Fast for weighted plastics MH/Fast for jigs/spinners/buzz MH/Moderate for lures with trebles H/Fast for frogs and heavy swimbaits...sometimes for my 110 ploppers although I've had no trouble with them on my MH/Fast
  12. That just shows how different things are. I absolutely slay bass on a watermelon red flake Ragetail on a brown skirted jig. Biggest bass this year was on one.
  13. Black/blue tends to not work for me. That being said I wasn't catching anything in the crystal clear water of a quarry on my normal swimjig/paddletail color combo so I switched to a purple/black skirted swimjig with a blue paddletail and started catching them for the first time in that color........I guess the bass don't read fishing articles.
  14. I bring 5 rods on my kayak. As I've learned which rods/reels I like I've found myself sticking to what I like. I have other rods/reels but the 5 I always bring are...... 5 St Croix rods, 3 Mojo Bass in two configurations and 2 AvidX in two configurations. I have 2 Quantum Smoke S3's in the same gear ratio, 3 Lew's Tournament Pro G's in 2 different ratios. I've tried other combinations but now tend to stick what I know I like. It it ain't broke don't fix it. LOL
  15. I also think you should up the line. I throw mine on a MH/Fast rod with 30 pound braid.......
  16. I agree, I have both, the Tournament MB is better.......smoother, feels better on both cast and retrieve, casts farther.
  17. I have four different colors. The only color I've caught bass on is the Loon. Of course I use it the most since that's the one I caught the first few on. When I've tried the others after a couple of casts I go with Loon so the others may not have gotten a fair shake.
  18. I've caught most of my Whopper Plopper bass when there's a slight chop. When the water is smooth I tend to reel it in 5 feet or so, slight pause, repeat. In those instances I get most strikes on the pause.
  19. My biggest was 8-03 and I thought it was a big catfish until my son saw it. It never jumped. When I saw it my heart literally almost burst out of my chest.....lol I can't imagine one 25% bigger.
  20. Last year I would have said Senko's. This year I would say Keitech Impact paddletails. I've used different sizes, fat and regular on swimjigs, weighted swimbait hooks, and chatterbaits and have absolutely nailed bass with them. Ragetails are a very, very, close second though as my top three bass this year were all caught on them on a jig.
  21. Or a Quantum Smoke S3..........
  22. I use a MH/fast for both. I prefer a jig and only use the t-rig if it's difficult to get a jig through whatever I'm fishing. I also tend to catch bigger bass with a jig.
  23. What's the action on it? I use a medium heavy fast for chatterbaits and spinnerbait. 7 foot though. I was using a medium heavy moderate but didn't like it.
  24. I've used them when hunting for years! They work as advertised!
  25. Ha, I'm lucky in that fishing mainly from a kayak I can just paddle to the other side of the snag and pull it free. I've only lost one jig this year.....Unfortunately it was in the mouth of a very large bass that snapped my leader at the kayak.
