  1. If you are referring to the crankbait box made by Plano, and I'm sure some others........I had one just for that purpose. They keep them untangled but do not hold a lot.
  2. I use a 3700 box for my cranks, I think I have around 40 or so in there right now. I have anywhere from 1 to 3 lures in each, I use rubberbands to keep the hooks from tangling. I like to sort mine by type and depth too.
  3. You are talking 1/1000 of an inch difference in diameter.........you are really overthinking this...... One of my closest friends does this, he's an engineer and over analyzes everything. Are you an engineer??
  4. No backer line for me either. I roll a layer of electrical tape, then tie it on and spool it up.
  5. In the right conditions jerkbaits are amazing baits.......like said above you can stay in the strike zone longer. In early November I was catching big bass in 12 feet of water that were suspended at about 4-5 feet. If I was using lead and plastics I would have been skunked unless I happened to get lucky enough to have the bait drop right across their nose, and they were in a mood to strike quick..........two mighty big if's...................
  6. Nice first post...........just saying.
  7. Between the BassX and Mojo, if it's in the budget, Mojo all the way.......not really even comparable. I currently own both in MH/Fast.
  8. I can't be the only one that loads the spool with line until it's near the top? I couldn't even guess how much line is on there nor have I tried.

  10. I have the S3 on my frogging rod too. It is my longest casting reel and is smooth. I also agree that with lighter lures it can be a bit of work to set it up. I tried one on my weightless plastics rod, mainly for casting ability but it's a bit finicky for that. Now that second one is on my jig rod.
  11. I've had my best success with them in water with decent clarity, clouds or sun hasn't mattered.
  12. Use a jerkbait that will suspend above the weeds, or around the edges. I didn't use them much until this fall. When the crank bite stopped and the water was cooled down quite a bit,,,,,,low 40's, I switched to a jerkbait to slow it down AND keep it at the level the bass were at and had some great days.
  13. I don't dropshot much.......to slow for my tastes. But when I have I used a baitcaster on a MH/Fast rod with 20 or 30 lb braid..........I caught bass. Dropshot blasphemy isn't it! I'm probably able to do it because I use a $240 rod though. Super medium centered type stuff. LOL
  14. All of my reels except one are Lew's. That one is a Quantum. I love my Lew's reels but also my Quantum. I like knowing what I'm getting with my purchase. Same with rods. Once I find what I like I don't see the reason to experiment.
  15. I'm a devoted St. Croix guy, so my answer is...................................
  16. I go with straight braid on everything.......... 50 for frogging, big swimbaits 30 for jigs, plastics, spinnerbaits, medium poppers, medium swimbaits 20 for crankbaits and jerkbaits Also, 90% of my fishing is from a kayak.
  17. Any opinions on the above listed rod, H/Moderate fast? My thoughts are a rod for my frogging needs that I can use for a couple of heavier swimbaits I'm planning on introducing into my arsenal.
  18. I don't have a MF but two MH/Fast and love them. No issues with the guides either.
  19. I used Weatherbug until someone showed me Dark Sky..........you should take a look at it.
  20. The only thing I could think of would be maybe a plastics reel where I want to get it back to the boat as fast as I can after leaving the target area so I can cast again. But personally I see no need for a ratio that high.
  21. The Pro G..........I just bought my third one on sale at TW and I didn't even need it! But it'll replace something, somewhere.......lol
  22. Like you I fish when I can. I've always said I was going to compare both my fishing and hunting success to those charts but never do get around to actually doing it. LOL
  23. I agree with focusing on one, maybe two techniques/lures at a time. This past summer was the jig for me.......it also happened to coincide with my catching many larger bass this summer. I always had a jig tied on, with either a Rage Tail craw or a paddle tail depending on what I was using it for. Once the water cooled a bit I was slamming them on various cranks from squarebills to medium depth. So those were my two for the year, I couldn't imagine trying to learn 5-7 in a summer.
