  1. I kayak fish a lot. I don't fish many lakes mainly because there are a lot of quarries around me. I can tell you I've caught my share of big bellied bass from quarries. But will admit my far and away biggest, fattest came from a pond.
  2. Considering I've caught a couple big bass in less than 3 feet of water this year with water temps in the mid 40's I guess I'll start giving it a shot when there are enough surface weeds.
  3. My rain gear is the same set regardless of temp. I layer underneath as needed.
  4. This is the first year I've really tried red..........haven't caught anything on them! Switch colors and success. Maybe it's the places I've fished so far.
  5. I check it and don't fish below it. I've never caught a bass below the thermocline. The way I see it it helps eliminate water.
  6. I do actually have 7 holders but don't count the 7th, it's for just what you're saying. It's on my rail in front of me on the left to put the rod in while I deal with the fish, especially in tournaments when I need a good picture and to stay organized.
  7. For me right now 7 is too many. I have 6 rod holders on my kayak. Although I haven't brought 6 yet this year.
  8. 22 feet with a jig at the bottom of a drop off in an old quarry.
  9. I like the Ocho and have them in my bag right now, but I find they are one of the least durable of that style bait.
  10. The only rods I have that are dedicated for one thing are my crankbait rod and my weightless plastics.
  11. My favorite is the Megabass Vision 110+. But now that I lost one at $25 I don't like it so much!
  12. This is quite possibly the only sport/activity where the ones that have the more expensive gear are ridiculed......lol I bet there are 1000 posts criticizing high end gear for every post doing the same for cheap gear. I'm a middle of the road gear guy so I guess I should catch flack from both sides.
  13. Agreed. I use baitcasters for everything. Line/rod/reel decide what lures I throw on each one.
  14. I also think they make a great spinnerbait trailer.
  15. If it's not posted I just go. The only time I was approached it was a police officer that asked me how I did as I was loading my kayak in my truck. During the conversation he told me boats weren't really allowed but I wasn't bothering anyone so not to worry about it.
  16. If it's the line and not the knot my first guess would be line wrap at the tip. I lost a brand new spinnerbait today for that exact reason. Looking at it as the glass being half full.......I can cast a spinnerbait extremely far if the line isn't dragging it down......LOL
  17. Have fun! I've had the kayak out 4 times so far.....once in a the middle of a snowstorm.
  18. 95% of my fishing is from a kayak. That would take up all the room!
  19. I try to keep it simple. 1. A stick bait......(Strike King Ocho's) 2. A craw..........(Strike King Rage Tail) 3. A creature........(Strike King Rage Bug) 4. A 6 inch worm.....(Googan right now) 5. A 10 inch worm.......(Strike King Bullworm) Three colors each 1. Black/Blue Flake 2. Watermelon/Red Flake 3. A green/pearl laminate
  20. Dropshot, I just don't have the patience.
  21. Popper in chop, regular in heavy slop, I don't use the Jr. often but find that whenever either I or the fish keep missing switching to the smaller one increases my hookups.
  22. As stated above, 30 pound braid is more appropriate for that rod. Also if you're worried about tangles and backlash with 30 pound braid just wait until you try the FC! The 30 lb braid will seem like heaven. LOL
  23. Got it. Totally understand the need to keep things organized. I fish from a kayak 98% of the time and feel the same way. I don't really fish plastics that much unless it's on a jig or a t-rig so my terminal tackle that I take along with me is fairly small.
