Pretty much spot on there. I will also just barely twitch my rod tip enough to barely make the frog move, especially when the bite it slow. When I do a constant "walk" many of the bass blow up right behind the frog and miss it. When I twitch-twitch-stop the bass actually hitting the frog goes up dramatically. I had two or three yesterday where the bass missed the frog by about 6 inches. I also twitch-twitch-twitch across the pads/weeds/whatever and then do a long pause in open water along the edge of the mat. It works great.
  2. I cast weightless rigged 4 and 5 inch Senko's on a MH rod all the time. No issues with casting or distance. I also have a Lew's Tournament Pro on that rod. Make sure you set the tension on the reel correctly.

I never understood the term "walk". I just twitch the rod and reel the slack, different speeds, different pauses. I don't really care what the actual frog looks like when I move it. And I'm also pretty sure the bass doesn't go the other way because when the frog moves "it doesn't quite look right, something is up with this frog so I'm not eating it".
  4. 90% of my jerkbaits are 1/2 oz.
  5. I use a MH/Fast for jerkbaits. For ME I just don't feel I get as crisp of a jerk with a medium.
  6. 3/0 EWG worm hooks here too. Pretty much all I use for T-rigs, weighted or weightless.
  7. To me mid depth is 8-12 feet. Right now I am using mid depth cranks a lot. A lot of bass have moved off the flats and are suspending on drop offs. My favorite quarry, has a long shelf at the edge of a flat that is about 3-6 feet. At the edge it drops to between 12-24 feet as you run the length of it. I use the crankbait right off the edge and do pretty good there. I don't intentionally bounce it off anything but do occasionally hook up some weeds.
  8. I have one that a purchased a few weeks ago for jigs. I use it for my frog rod now. I loved it for jigs but really love it for frogs.
  9. And a longer kayak at the same width will track better. I went from a 10.5 foot to a 12 and couldn't be happier.
  10. I throw square, shallow, medium on mine. I hate throw deep cranks with it. For those I use a MH/Fast.
  11. I stick a screwdriver in a vise, put the spool on that. I can't imagine going somewhere every time I spool a reel, Like Todd2 its worked for way too many years.
  12. Green Pumpkin, Watermelon/Red Flake, Black/Blue Flake I have those three colors for my Rage Bug, Rage Tail, Yum Dingers. I've never found a need for anything else color wise.
  13. I fish out of a kayak 99% of the time. I use a St Croix AvidX M/Mod for cranks. I excursions where I plan to throw a lot of cranks and want to use two cranking rods my other one is a BassX MH/Moderate.
  14. I don't follow them but I don't understand the obsession with ripping on them.........lol
  15. I keep everything in Plano boxes. 3700's. I also just bought a Kast King tackle bag. I do it this way because when I'm in the kayak, the boxes go in my crate, when I go on a boat they go in the bag.
  16. Last year I upped my jig game with good success, this year I'm upping my bigger sized worm game.........still waiting. I'm using Strike King Bullworm Zoom Ol' Monsters
  17. Considering that every thread title in this forum that has the word "Googan" in it gets a multitude of responses I'd say their marketing scheme works. I bought of pack of their craws and didn't like the consistency of the plastic. I' also don't watch their videos but I certainly don't begrudge them the $$ they are making via legal means........
  18. I don't think my numbers are down that much, but they have definitely been harder to find.
  19. I've only missed one on a Plopper and that one was hooked and 90% of the way to the boat when it shook off. When I use them though I seldom do a straight retrieve. I do an occasional stop and start and most strikes take place right at the stop or the start.
  20. That's what I was thinking, too long and too $$ for OP's request though.
  21. Boy oh boy, if you'd go 7'4 and $199 have I got the rod for you! Just purchased it myself and fish 99% of the time from a kayak.........................
  22. The Braillist and the Perfect Pitch.
  23. I would get the Mojo. I've had both and find the Mojo is more accurate in it's power ratings. The BassX's seemed a little light to me, although I only had a MH/Moderate.....
  24. I use the Keitech Swing Impact Fat in either 3.8 or 4.8, but when I'm running short and not needing anything else for an online order I get the Strike King Rage Swimmers at the local BP.
  25. I just used a MH/fast AvidX with a baitcaster while fishing ned rigs for smallmouth in a local river. No problems at all.
