  1. I use 30 pound braid for everything except crankbaits (20 lb braid) and frogs/punching (65 lb braid) I have no issues with backlashing. Well most of the time! LOL
  2. I currently have the AvidX in MH/Fast that I use for what you're planning to use. I highly recommend it.
  3. I don't know that specific rod but I can tell you that I much prefer a MH rod for deep cranking.
  4. Or jigs, or frogs.
  5. As a follow up to my original reply to this post......... The last two times out I caught a total of three bass and one surprise gar,,,,,,first gar ever. Fished about 5-6 hours each time. So today I went to a quarry that I always do well, nothing huge, but good numbers. The bad news is that I went through two packs of Watermelon/Red Flake Rage Tail Craws this morning. The good news is that I went through two packs of Watermelon/Red Flake Rage Tail Craws this morning. And that was AFTER they stopped hitting my popper and cranks...........LOLO
  6. A few years ago I wanted to catch bass, that was my criteria. After awhile I wanted bigger bass, that was my criteria. As I got into tournaments I found myself getting upset when I'd catch 20 bass and they were all 12-14 inches and realized that before tournaments I would have been doing back flips. I still target big bass. The other day I was catching bass like crazy on a T-rig but they were all around 14 inches. After a bunch I switched to jigs and only caught two bass in the next three hours but they were a 19.5 and a 21 which are nice catches here in northern Illinois. It's slowed down a lot here the last couple weeks so Monday I'm putting my kayak in a quarry where I know the bass won't be big but I'll catch a ton and have a blast.
  7. Just ordered the XX Braillist since the Levante's are back ordered.
  8. I also had an order in with TW for another Brailist. In stock when I ordered on Monday, back ordered until August 5th on Tuesday, now back ordered until October. I called to cancel my order and while talking with them they stated they did get a notice to stop selling due to a manufacturing defect. They also said they were told it didn't affect all the Levante's but Megabass weren't taking any chances. I still like the Levante's I have but need a rod prior to mid/late October so I cancelled anyway.
  9. And what do they plan to do with the three I've already purchased?????
  10. I usually buy about 10 or so at a time. I only use two different types of jig, two sizes each. Three colors each. But I have a bunch of each.
  11. I only use braid. I use 20 pound for crankbaits and light topwaters on a M/Moderate, I use 50 on my H/Fast for frogs in slop. I use 30 for everything else. especially on my MH/Fast rods. I'd say if a MH/Fast is the general purpose rod, 30 lb braid is the general purpose braid. Lighter than 20 is a pain in the arse for me.
  12. A MH/Fast can be used for just about everything. Well, actually you can use it for everything. I may go with a lighter braid, like 30 pounds and you'd be good to go. Cranks, buzz, jerk, plastics, spinnerbaits, jigs It's not perfect for everything but can be used for everything. If I could only bring one rod that would be the one. But lighter braid.
  13. So I take it the sole reason for your post was to try and get people riles up? On the internet? For your entertainment? 14. Mine are half fingers, and have an open palm. I have no problems with bait or hooks I don't wear them often enough. Mainly because I'm lazy. LOL
  15. I'm another one that uses a worm binder.
  16. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't. With more time on the water I've learned that you can't rely on one lure because it caught either you PB or sometime your last fish. But you also can't be switching every three casts either. With time you figure out which lures to eliminate right away for higher success, just like I've learned to eliminate certain sections of a body of water knowing the success percentage will be low. When you think about it you can narrow it down to shallow, medium, and deep water. Work it fast, medium, or slow. That's nine choices but you can usually eliminate a few of those right away. That comes with experience.......the other side of the coin is bass don't always follow the rules. Yesterday I kayak fished a tournament of 7 hours. I caught three bass within the first 60 minutes along the same 100 yard stretch of weeds in 2 feet of water. For five hours I scoured the lake, points, drop offs, lily pads, humps, nothing. Working my way back to the ramp I caught three more in the same stretch of weeds........I should have just stayed there the entire day it would have saved me A LOT of paddling. LOL
  17. Well that's because they're in your closet! You have to wear them! Haha,,jk!
  18. I'm a long time Wilderness Systems owner but the Vibe Shearwater that's coming out in early 2020 has my eye. You can purchase a pedal drive with it also.
  19. Same here regarding the mesh. It's piled so bad it's a mess.
  20. I keep them in two 3700 boxes but then again I only use a few styles, and three colors of each. On box has worms/stick baits, the other box has craws, bugs, paddletails.
  21. During the last recession which the forward thinking state of Illinois decided was a great time to raise taxes, the Illinois store in Hoffman Estates closed down their upstairs section. I asked a manager about it, she said that they pay more taxes for retail space square footage so they eliminated the upstairs as retail. Some of it has opened back up since then though.
  22. Same here. Especially the fishing stuff which is sad since I have one close by. There floor employees are not as stellar as they used to be either. I had a guy appear very bothered to check for a reel that wasn't on display which they ended up having.
