Sleeper Craw
I got mine in the mail today. Those claws are definitely buoyant, causing the bait to stand pretty much straight up. After further inspection I noticed if you open up the claws, there's an actual hole/cavity in between. I was able to fit worm rattles in each claw. I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned in any of the videos I've watched ort articles I've read. That clicking sound could really improve the bait, especially in stained water. In this pic you can see the right claw has a rattle in it, while the left claw doesn't. It keeps the pinchers more open. You may have to add a tab of glue before inserting it to keep it from coming out easily. Now, this does change the buoyancy of the bait. It no longer stands straight up, but the bait does still fall down/over slowly once it hits the bottom. I'm not sure how weedless this bait will be. I can see it snagging on wood easily the same was the Dark Sleeper and Sleeper Gill does. Especially once the bait starts getting beat up. I see it excelling more around rock.

I've never fished them myself but have always heard good things. I always wanted to check out their glass-composite rods. For $80 it may be worth a try.

Well now, didn't you win the lottery! I agree on thinking these will be money. The Cover Scat has been amazing and I expect the same from these.

Sleeper Craw
Despite being a fan of the Dark Sleeper and Sleeper Gill, I told myself I was gonna pass on this one. Without getting it in hand, it just didn't do anything for me. But Mr. Monkey said "I don't think so". I just ordered a few. Sadly the few red colors are out of stock. TW, Omnia and BaitWrx all have some in stock right now.

how long could you go......
Man I'm never gonna live that down. ? But yes, you're likely correct. And yet I keep on buying. SMH. Stopped at a ma and pa shop today to look for a rod for a bday present. I swore I wasn't getting anything for myself. I came out with a rod and 3 packs of the new ned Senko's in the Fire Craw color because I didn't think I had that color yet. $7/bag where as they're $4.50 right now at Omnia. But they were giving me a sad look and crying "please, please take us home". Anyways, I get home and come to find out I had 2 bags already that I had ordered at some point over the winter. It really is a sickness.

Also the Jackall Archelon. In stained water, stick a worm rattle into the small hole/cavity, weighted Texas rig and hold on to your britches!

Favorite drop shot lure?
Agree with 20# leader being way too heavy for a drop shot leader. You could also drop down the braid to 15# or even 10#. As far as how far down you put the weight, that's determined by how far off the bottom you want it. There is no set distance for that.

New Tatula Elite Rods
I ended up ordering the new model of the 7' med-light/regular Howell casting rod. I already had the same model in the previous line. Right away out of the tube I could tell how much lighter it felt. I weighed both rods. Old version weighs in at 4.95 oz. which is quite heavy for a 7' med-light. The new version weighs only 4.10 oz. I knew the reel seats on the new one's changed, but wasn't expecting the handle to change on this model. The older version has a full handle, where as the new model has split grip (which I like much better for a rod this size where I likely won't be casting with 2 hands). This obviously contributes to the lighter weight. Cosmetically I think it looks much nicer. I don't mind the old ones, but the darker gray/silver of the new one's are an improvement IMO. The black (it's almost a chrome/black if that makes sense) reel seat is a nice touch as well over the previous model. The seat is also thinner as you can see in the pics. I'll definitely be selling the older version now. At the same price, the new model is clearly a no-brainer IMO. Granted I did get the older version at a really good price.

Favorite drop shot lure?
Lots of good ones mentioned already. I did really well on the NetBait Flat Sided Shad and NetBait Crush Worm last year. The smallies especially loves the Flat Sided Shad.

Swim Jig Details
I'd say the trailer is the most important part of a swim jig. Some paddle tails will give it more roll than others. Some trailers like a Rage Menace rigged vertically won't give the jig any roll at all (which I like in colder water). Craw-style trailers will help keep it higher in the water column. As far as weight goes I mostly throw 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz. 1/4 oz is I'm fishing rather shallow. I'll sometimes bump it up to 1/2 oz if I wanna fish it deeper. 3/8 oz is probably the most common size people throw. Colors...I fish black/blue a ton. I fish a lot of stained/dirty water. White works well, too. In clearer water I'll throw bluegill colors or green pumpkin. Those 3-4 colors, or a variations of those colors, are really all you need. Sometimes I'll dabble in fire craw and chartreuse colors...mostly in the spring. As far as brands, Siebert's gets my vote. But I probably have 15 different brands. I also like 6th Sense, Greenfish Tackle, Satone, Strike King, Beast Coast, Dirty Jigs and Outcast Tackle. The Lethal Weapon IV comes thru grass really well. Oh, and I do like the Missile Baits Mini as well when I want a smaller profile.
