  1. Well I can honestly say I am an expert at something bass fishing related, and I don't think many will argue. That is I am an expert at getting skunked.
  2. Personally my initial impressions with the E6X is that it would be more on par with the St. Croix Mojo Bass than the Avid lineup. It seemed a little expensive, maybe it's just the fact that it's made in the US factoring into the cost or whatever. Where GLoomis really shines is their more expensive rods.
  3. You can probably run 40lb braid on a 2500 reel just fine. I'd think you'd be running 65lb with a massive 4000 sized reel to be honest. My girlfriend couldn't learn a baitcaster and got frustrated trying, so a couple years back I got her a Tatula 7'1" MH/F spinning rod with a Ballistic LT the 2500D model that I got new for $135 on ebay (great reel). I've ran 30lb and 40lb braid on that, it holds maybe 90 yards of 40# with a little backing line.
  4. I usually keep mine in my back yard under a tarp on stands, face down. My mom let me store them in her basement for the winter.
  5. I try to do whatever seems to work, but I do try to power fish when that seems to work.
  6. My favorite Melinda's is the Red Savina, which is like the original in flavor but as hot as the XXXX reserve. I think the Extra Hot or Original is probably my second favorite. There are a couple of hotter ones in the habanero carrot line (XXXtra Hot and XXXX Reserve), but they have a little more vinegar and a slightly more bitter flavor - although still good. Marie Sharp's (the original Melinda's) is fairly similar too, the Hot Habanero is the rough equivalent to Melinda's original habanero. A local grocery store carries it, which makes me happy. I'd say you'd like the any sauces that I listed as my all around favorites in my post above (but probably all of them to be honest).
  7. So just an update - I am being told I will have the kid's hockey schedule sometime tomorrow so I hope to be able to lock down a time tomorrow or Thursday! So look for calendar invites, and I will also post here to do my best to keep everyone in the loop.
  8. I didn't realize it was sold out - you have to look at the details listing. I ordered mine when I did because when they're gone, they might be gone for real. BPS already sold out of the 93sv, and I had been looking around for deals because sometimes I get better deals around October than I do on Black Friday and almost always I get better deals in early or mid December (some places jack up the prices in early November so they can say they discounted it, etc)
  9. I just received the two $450 EchoMap UHD 73sv units I ordered from BPS about 10 minutes ago, the transducer was included with both of them. I would probably jump on that. On my 93sv, I use the shortcut buttons which I have programmed to the views I'm using 99%+ of the time and the zoom button and I do everything else by the touch screen
  10. Yup, it's like steak sauce but better. Or habanero carrot, which is probably my favorite pairing.
  11. I'm a huge chilehead.... My all time favorite hot sauce for virtually any use is between Heartbreaking Dawn's Papa Boi, Melinda's Red Savina, Marie Sharp's Hot Habanaro, Blair's Pure Death and Cajohn's Trinidad Scorpion - too hard to pick. For Mexican food, it's Heartbreaking Dawns 1542 (anything HBD is very good, many of them are geared towards a certain style of food) My favorite to make into wing sauce is HBD's 1841 ghost pepper sauce. My favorite to marinade a spoon or pork roast (back when I ate red meat) is Cajohn's Bourbon Chipotle Habanero, just throw it in the fridge in a zip lock back with the meat overnight and smoke with hickory or mesquite wood chips, easy way to impress your friends
  12. I have six of them, they're solid rods for the price. Vibrations are on the muted side but they transmit through the rod pretty well - not saying they're less sensitive than other rods of the price point or maybe even a little more expensive, it's just how you feel them (tough to describe). Sort of like comparing a Steez to a NRX, or in the same price point, a Dobyns Sierra to a St Croix Avid or even Mojo Bass if that makes sense. 7'6" H/F flipping rod 7'4" H/F frog rod 7'1" MH/XF casting - T-Rigs, jigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, etc 6'10" MH/F first gen with the split grip - this is my go rod for a T-Rig rod or a 3/8oz or lighter jig. This one has a thinner tip than normal rods, something Daiwa uses a lot so it's not able to handle a 1/2oz jig very well but in turn it's more sensitive than the regular tips. 7'2" MH/R glass - squarebills in grass, deep divers, spinnerbaits and crankbaits 7' M/R glass - crankbaits and jerkbaits Do your elites have the AGS guides? That would do it.
  13. With experience with the Sierra 703C and I've handled some Fury 703Cs as well, I'm confident the Champion XP 703C would be a very solid choice for those all of those lures. Also start with 15lb Berkley Big Game. It's cheap and fat enough you can generally pick out a backlash and if he backlashes it enough he starts to mess up the line well it's cheap and easy to replace. He can move to braid or fluorocarbon from there.
  14. Is that a nice new drill I see there?
  15. They already posted it on their website (normally they post it the morning of or the day before). There's also some other sites although with less of a selection that offer similar deals as well.
  16. At least they have full stock of some other jigs, like Terminators for example where this summer at times I couldn't find any from virtually any brand!
  17. I have several dirty jigs models on my want list but most of them are sold out and you can't even backorder them at this point, so I figure I'm going to have to place an order earlier in 2021 and miss out on the sale for jigs
  18. 20% off almost everything besides Megabass and I think one other brand. Last year they had an additional 10% off of some brands like Strike King, War Eagle and some others and unlike many places they don't mark it up in advance, so it's legit.
  19. Is there some wording loophole in that note? Maybe you can buy her tons of tackle for Christmas knowing that she doesn't fish, hoping that it comes back your way? You know, get her a Daiwa Steez combo, or maybe a G Loomis Conquest and a Steez combo or something like that...
  20. Oh bummer - was wondering if it's really as good with lighter lures as the rating suggests. I had the Tatula H/F 7'1" and it throw a 1/2 jig an absolute mile and I think it still threw a 3/8oz jig further than my MH rods do.
  21. Hey guys, please don't forget to PM me your email addresses so I can start putting together a member list and setup meeting invites as soon as I have my kids hockey schedule so I have a day that will work for me. I'll shoot out PMs at some point to people who said they were interested who I have not heard from, but this will help me get started.
  22. Don't tempt me - that's like my second most productive jerkbait and I have like three or four of them and it's generally not a bait I lose and need to replace all that often.
  23. I'm hoping to add one high end setup to my arsenal this year too and the 7'1" H/F Steez is in the running. You don't happen to have that one by chance?
  24. Yeah, I saw size 1's on that too. I'm going to have to try that. I do have some other unspecified size that I believe may be around 1 or 1/0 too, but once I got down to 2/0 it was significantly improved.
  25. With Black Friday fast approaching, who else has been tagged by the bait monkey this year? This year I actually have a fairly ambitious Black Friday built up myself, after keeping it down last year. I had both kids build up a wishlist with the idea of filling up the utility trays they carry in their kayaks so they each have a full collection of T-Rigs and jigs and a handful of other lures and they can build from there and that will be their X-Mas presents this year along with the fish finders. Then I plan to get some basic tools and scales to just keep in our blackpaks/milk crates so everybody has their own and I can keep the one I have in my tackle bag in my tackle bag - and stop forgetting to take the scale. As for lures for myself, I don't actually need a whole lot, just white spinnerbaits and a handful of jigs - unfortunately my #1 jig of choice is sold out so I may wait for those to come back in stock.
