I have changed my line around quite a bit as I have added experience and more rods and reels to my arsenal, but I largely got it to how I like it now. Straight 65lb braid for frogs and jigs and punching rigs in cover, 12lb braid with usually a 6lb leader for finesse and flurocarbon for everything else.

Like previously mentioned, if you get the slightest tug on tight braid, you'll notice it but if there is any slack in the line then there's no real advantage. I'm not sure if fluorocarbon is necessarily more sensitive in these cases, but it becomes very close. So when I use braid, it's either for throwing a frog or a jig or punchin' rig into heavy cover and in such cases I am using more weight than I would use when I am skipping docks with fluorocarbon which works to my advantage as it keeps the line tighter.

..and I thought I had it bad having my foot blow up with gout to the point I can't sleep some nights let alone stand or walk. That's rough man, but be glad your doctor found it when he did. My dad had a series of mini strokes late last year as well for a similar reason and his doctor didn't and that could have been avoided but fortunately he is okay with no permanent damage. If you don't get that taken care of it it could do a lot worse than just end your season. I hope everything goes smoothly and wish you a quick recovery.

That's true but that makes sense as they have more of a chance of seeing a brighter color so maybe a better analogy would be how in clearer waters, bright colors are usually less effective during the day, where the green pumpkin blends in and doesn't stick out like a haystack on a needle. What baits do you get in that color? That does seem like it would blend in nicely though.

So... how was day one of the weekend? I was telling myself the same thing all week - figured I'd be out on the kayak. I believe I have broke it off at the knot on at least one of the occasions but I didn't give it to much thought because like I said given where it snagged, I don't think I was getting anything back short of 50lb braid.

I have to second this. There have been a number of times where I've had a fish hit it on the pause and jerk it again to find a fish on it but really got a chance for a proper hookset.

I would buy a few Mepps Agila or Panther Martin spinners and then stock up on Black Friday sales. Some of these bargain spinners are basically a waste of cash - plus I haven't had great luck buying lures off Amazon at all.

Today would have been one of those days to make me forget that winter is coming as it hit 78 degrees, 76 most of the day and it's still 68 right now at 8:47pm. I had planned on taking the kayaks out but my foot blew up again with gout something awful on Thursday night and although better, I didn't want to risk hurting it and causing it to get worse.

I only carry 1/16oz and 1/8oz ned rig jig heads. For 15-25ft of water, I would usually go with the 1/8oz unless I know I'm targeting water closer to 15ft most of the time. I could make an argument for something a bit heavier, maybe 1/5 or 1/6oz so it can get down to the bottom faster and that is also legitimate depending how you are fishing it and where the bass are holed up.

I always thought this is why green pumpkin generally worked so well for me, similar to how darker colors work at night or in very dirty water. Most water I fish in is typically very clear. I've generally found that if some oddball color say pink that the fish haven't seen before is working on the particular day and spot I'm fishing, it usually works pretty well. But when those oddball colors fail to produce it's time to switch to something green pumpkin, watermelon or some other green or brown variant. Exactly my experiences as well

I use a double uni knot (which is not as good as an Alberto or FG knot) but the only time I have lost my leader has been when I got snagged. Given the location (rocks!) I was pretty sure I was not getting my bait back in each case even if I was running the 12lb braid with no leader, but who knows maybe it's just me being stubborn and if I used a FG knot maybe I would have got it back.

Dollar for dollar, the Mojo Bass is a much better value - as others mentioned, they do have the same blanks. That said for more vertical style presentations like T-Rigs and Jigs and of course assuming you fish these as often as I do, I would say the Avid X very well may be worth the extra money, or perhaps the Avid which has better guides (unless you really prefer microguides). Also it's easy to justify as well since the Avids are made in the US.

Now that is a very unorthodox buzzbait rod, but if it works, it works! I could think of situations where I might have a long strike zone and a longer cast could help, although I don't have a suitable rod above 7'1" (a heavy jig rod is a little bit too stiff).

Reviews? Friends Recommendations? I largely buy products based on my own needs first. If I happen to need it, and it looks like a good fit or I hear it works pretty good then I'll buy it. 5. Where did you usually shop pre covid-19? In stores? Online? Both online and in stores. I prefer to support local stores but Tackle Warehouse's extensive selection is too hard to pass up. 6. Does the fishing industry have enough gadgets? I would say so. There is more stuff out there now than there ever was before. That said I'm sure there's a lot more to come. 7. How much do you spend yearly on fishing equipment I probably average around $1000 on rods, reels and tackle, but if you add the kayaks I bought this year that's going way up.

I have the Daiwa Tatala (not XT) 7' M/R glass and 7'2" MH/R glass rods. I use the M/R for most shallow and medium crankbaits, and the MH for larger deep divers but also sometimes spinnerbaits and chatterbaits on heavier line. For a 5/8oz lipless I would prefer the MH/R, but for everything else the M/R should do nicely. I'm not especially familiar with the XTs but the Tatula glass rods are pretty solid! They're surprisingly sensitive for glass rods too.

I would say the Sierra is more on par to the Mojo Bass in terms of sensitivity.

You should be able to put a few in the passenger's seat floor and the tips will be pointed at the back driver's side window. I have also put rods over the console in my girlfriend's CRV - could probably use a small rod tube (or a larger one) to help protect them if you do that.

1981 Buick Century. It was my grandfather's car, who died in 1985 when I was only 3 of cancer. My grandmother sold her car and kept his car, but she had meniere's disease which made her dizzy so she rarely drove. She had surgery and got that cleared up, but was still afraid to drive largely because she sat on 3 pillows to see over the dashboard, so she bought a Toyota Corolla and gave me the Century in 2000. It was great for me because I'm tall. It had 31,200 original miles on it, and the original everything. When I got it, it wouldn't start so I added water to the battery and it started on the coldest day in Berkshire county history without a problem. It had a stalling problem until it warmed up, and my grandmother had it looked at and everyone told her it was a computer problem they couldn't fix. Took one look at it and the choke in the carburetor got stuck in the middle - got that rebuilt and never had another problem.

I have caught more fish on a Berkley Cutter 90 shallow than any other. I have Ghost Bluegill and Yellow Perch. My #2, the Lucky Craft Pointer 95 in ghost minnow also deserves a mention as well.
