Yet Another Lake Tragedy
Deb took these pics while fishing a tournament on Lake Barkley yesterday. Boat caught on fire at the gas dock .... while being towed to a safe place, the rope burns in 2 and the burning boat drifts into some slips catching a houseboat and jetski on fire. One person flown to Vanderbuilt Hospital and one person missing. A celebration is being planned for the destruction of the jetski !!! ;D

Ranger fans chime in
Again .... I have been in dozens of boats ..... you CAN NOT compare the ride and handling unless you drive each one or the SAME driver demos each one for you. On any given day, any of those boats can be the best or the worst based on who is at the helm.

Which engine? Mercury Optimax or Evinrude E-tech?
I have owned both over the last 35 years .... I believe both are good engines. I run Evinrude and will continue to do so based on the support I have been given. They actually pulled a lift pump off of the factory line aand next dayed it to my dealer when the pumps were on national backorder through the parts system.

Ranger fans chime in
I've been in a ton of boats .... Ranger or Champion are your best bet for rough water. Here on Kentucky :ake, we see our fair share of rough water. I own a Ranger and would have nothing else. The fishability is awesome. A lot of the way a boat feels in rough water is the guy driving it. In addition to hull design, other factors change the ride .... like seat position and balance.

Not so many people getting run over with boats, just water deaths in general. This makes number 18 for this year on Kentucky/Barkley ..... 18 too many. He was found this morning about 9:30 or 10AM right where Deb saw him surface for a split second yesterday afternoon.

Another Lake Tragedy
Some folks visiting from Germany were swimming in Kentucky Lake just out from our house yesterday afternoon when one was struck by a pontoon boat. Deb and I were already hooked up to the boat and were on the water searching in less than 10 minutes several minutes before the rescue squad arrived. Deb actually saw his arm pop up for a split second, but we were 50 yards os so from him and using the trolling motor. We searched for about an hour until the rescue squad got going in force. The rest of last night we spent taking hot coffee and other supplies to the recue squad and the family of the victim. As of this morning they are still dragging for him. Here are some of the rescue squad This is Zuke ... a rescue dog. He can find bodies even on the water The big boys with divers waiting to go to work We pray for the family and that he is found soon.
