  1. Centrifugal brake= half of them on, half of them off. I go every other brake. Spool tension= tighten just to the point there is no side to side wobble. Magnetic brake in the middle. You can adjust from there, but that is where I usually start, with all centrifugal brake reels.
  2. Netbait Paca chunk. it comes in 3 sizes. jr., original and sr. havoc pit boss. it comes in 3 inch and 4 inch.
  3. sunline sniper is small diameter for its rating. plus the difference is pretty minimal 10lb sunline is .010 inch. 12 lb is .011 compare that to berkley 100% flourocarbon professional grade. 10lb is .012 inches 12lb is .013 inches.

I don't have any old wiggle warts left. I do have a few Luck E Strike G5 crankbaits that run similar. they come with a snap. I switched one over to a snap ring and it lost a lot of its action. Just use the snaps now.
  5. caught my personal best last summer with a KastKing speed demon pro baitcaster. biggest bass for 2019 was on a speed demon spinning reel. they do make reliable reels.
  6. Local lake was supposed to open tomorrow for boating and fishing. 80% covered in ice and 4 to 6 inches of blowing snow forecast for the weekend. cold weather forecast for all next week. opening day was postponed for 2 weeks?.
  7. Agreed. I was not referring to Mexico. The malaria analogy was in regards to the rainforest. My former employer had companies in Brazil and people would take fishing expeditions into the Amazon. One of my coworkers got malaria. It was a bad deal
  8. Meth,Crack,Opioids, cheeseburgers,Pizza, and TV are first world problems from living in excess. They are things people choose to do. I have never had to get a Malaria vaccination in the U.S. I also don't live in a country, where drinking the tap water is considered hazardous. I have spent a lot of time south of the border for business and vacations. it is definitely a different world.
  9. that plus Malaria, and Montezuma's revenge are just a few reasons to stay in the states.
  10. when I lived in Iowa the coffee tube produced a lot of bass for me. It was my go to bait when the bite was slow. I can not catch a Bass on a tube in Kansas. Not sure what the difference is. i can catch them on nearly everything else.
  11. What about mega jaws. That is their latest baitcaster. I have a couple royal legend elites. They are nice. I will never buy a mega jaws. Mainly for the fact it is called mega jaws, and the ridiculous looking teeth on the reel. It looks like something a kid would use. A baitcasting snoopy reel.
  12. Some of my first fishing experiences were carp fishing in eastern Iowa rivers with corn and a mystery doughbait my grandpa used to make. We always had fun. Somewhere along the way carp has taken a backseat to other gamefish. Didn't notice until you mentioned it. I edited the first sentence to hopefully make more sense
  13. I was flipping through cable channels, while digesting supper, and stumbled across a show called monster carp on the world fishing network channel. I usually don't watch this channel, but this title caught my attention. As a Bass fisherman I was intrigued a show was dedicated to one of the most despised fish in America. The show was based in England. They obviously hold carp at a higher status than most Americans do. I guess it depends on where you live and what is available. To me a carp is a smelly bugle lipped trash fish. I am usually not to happy when I snag one. Maybe I am a spoiled American, but I am just glad to Live in a country where carp are not the only option.
  14. I get it. I don't see an issue with the current format.
  15. This thread has been running for nearly 13 years. For a long time there was also one dedicated to a local 400 acre lake.
  16. You must have got a dud. while it is not my favorite reel for all applications, It is often what I use for punching and big whopper ploppers.. I have abused one of them for over 3 years and it is still like new. I use 65 lb braid and the drag is always cranked down.
  17. I own a winch. Ok for crankbaits but too slow for what the op is looking for. In all honesty the quality of a pro qualifier is just as good as the winch for 1/4 the price. Plus it comes in 2 different ratios. If I was going to spend over $150.00 it would be on a tatula sv or a curado.
  18. That video is a pretty dry advertisement for Rapala. The post may be 12 years old, but that video has to be a lot older.
  19. this thread just keeps going. Both sides need to be aware of the other. On public water everyone has an equal right to be there. When I am fishing from a kayak I do not fish in the middle of a busy boat channel. That is just plain ignorant. When I am in my boat I always give a Kayak a wide berth. If one is in the boat channel I try to slowly idle by.
  20. At the moment Bass Pro Shops has the Pro Qualifier II on sale for $49.99. Hard to beat at that price. normal price is $99.99
  21. Side and down imaging opens up the underwater world and gives a good picture of what is down there. GPS helps you get right back to a previous found area and shows where you are on a contour map. It has opened up a lot of areas, that I previously never new existed. On reservoirs it has become a vital fishing tool for me. On small lakes, it helps, but is not usually the main factor for my success.
  22. My ned rig rod is a 7ft. bucoo medium light moderate action rod. It works great with the little ned rig hooks. still handles decent sized fish. Landed one over 5lbs. with it. Walmart has the Luck E Strike American Originals G5 crankbaits for $3.00. I love these little crankbaits. they run like the original wiggle warts. Plus they come in unique colors
  23. Probably not the best sentence, to critique someone else's grammar. We are not all English majors. We know what you meant. Fish on.
  24. Kastkings most popular is the royal legend elite. it costs anywhere from $69.00 to $75.00. Depending on which gear ratio you choose. It only has magnetic brakes, but from personal experience they work well. It is also very smooth. If setup correctly backlashes are very rare. It will actually cast farther than my Tatulas. the speed demon pro is also a nice reel, but if you have small hands it may be uncomfortable to palm. plus the 9.3 to 1 gear ratio is a little faster than I like, on anything except jigs and worms. Brent Chapman has been testing their newest baitcaster called the bassinator. not sure what it is going to cost. Not yet on the market.
