fellow shimano posse members...
I'm not sure what a new Stradic runs, that's getting pretty close to twice what I paid for my Symetre. Is the Stradic a step up from the Symetre or more? As Ever, skillet

New to bass fishing...did I make a good selection?
WELCOME to the forums!!! Have never owned Shakespeare equip. myself so not much help there. I usually try for Shimano reels and BPS's Bionic Blades for rods. Maybe someone else will answer that has owned that brand. It seems like quite a few folks will buy a brand and then ask for opinions. I think it would better to ask opinions first. Opinions are like navels...everybody has one, (notice how I didn't say another body part ;D) trying to clean my act up. A lot of it comes down to what you like thru trial and error... Moving South ?
The whole time I sat reading that I was thinking, if I moved to where Raul lives I would probably be keeping pretty much the same diary. Then get to the part about the weather in his neck of the woods and it's NICER than the weather here ;D... As Ever, skillet

Why is the reel handle on the right hand side?
WELCOME to the forums!!! I have almost always used baitcasters (RH) and when I finally broke down and bought a decent spinning outfit and I left it LH, can't say why but it works for me!!! As Ever, skillet

One Year Anniversary!!!!!
Congrats (I guess :). You probably shouldn't tell just anyone about this milestone, and speaking of sane you can't be quite all there if you stand on a bank looking like an idiot ;D, just ask my wife... As Ever, skillet

Glad X 2
Justfishin I bet those folks COULD put in a day's work. That was a great story. I really try and be responsible when on other folk's property and I already asked if I could keep some fish for him. Never thought of the liquid refreshment . I have already informed She Who Must Be Obeyed that the honeydo list would have to wait tomorrow, I'm going to try the first one I spoke of. Thanks Guys!!! Snappin Turtle Soup
I remember my Momma talking about it. During the Depression she lived on a log raft with a big tent at the mouth of the Yazoo R. right North of Vicksburg Miss. My Grandfather fished the Yazoo and Mississippi and sold it in Vicksburg when he could. She said it was really good. She would tell the story about how he caught one in his nets that you couldn't set a no.9 wash tub over. Never had any myself hope to remedy that one day... As Ever, skillet

One for us older gentlemen.
There was a time (back when I had a beautiful body which has long since gone bad :'() that I thought I was immortal and invincible. Didn't take too long for the world to teach me different, which wasn't a bad thing. The BAD THING is how durned long it takes me to get over and heal from things I used to take for granted ;D... As Ever, skillet BTW that fellow isn't but a year older than me. "you're a better man than I Gunga Din" Rudyard Kipling

Glad X 2
FM, I just figured that I was shooting myself in the foot by not asking. If I didn't ask I was never going to get to fish the lake anyway :-?. Not too long ago I told someone on here that you had to get a thick skin and one yes made up for quite a few no's. I figured I needed to take my own advice :-[. Got turned down the last 2 times I asked. It's no fun, you tend to take it personal (like they think you've got REAL bad breath or something ;D). Most folks are just worried about you not taking care of their property or you getting hurt and sueing them (remember McDonald's and the hot coffee). Reread the posts from hookemdown and Taliesin and ;)Good Luck the next time you ask. Post and let us know what happens... As Ever, skillet

Glad X 2
I finally got enough nerve to go up to this fellas house to ask permission to fish this small lake that he is the caretaker of the property that it is located on (have wanted to ask for years). Hated to ask, thinking he would turn me down :-[. He hemmed and hawed a little and then said it was OK, just take care of the lake. I assured him I would ;D. As I was getting in the truck to leave he said that there was a large pond behind his house and I was welcome to fish it too if I wanted (like I would turn him down :)... As Ever, skillet

A serious reminder.......
Thanks for being trusting enough to share your feelings with us. Didn't know about having friends on-line until I joined here. I can't say "I know how you feel" because I've never had to go thru what you have. My heart and thoughts go out to you and the Glissons... As Ever, skillet

Thanks to all
I really enjoy "talking" to folks that enjoy fishing as much as I do and having friends that you've never "met". This place is like most things, the more involved you get and the longer you hang around the pleasure multiplies by 10 or more. WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet

fishing from the bank
I pretty much fish from the bank and like Grug really enjoy it. My OCD kicks in and I tend to fish a good looking spot to death. When I fish from a boat, I do the same thing. That's another one of those personal preferences that everyone deals with, no matter if you are fishing from a boat or the bank... As Ever, skillet

Harold ( the computer guy )
Don't want to say how long I looked at I D 1 0 T till I saw it :-[. Not quite as bad as trying to push the loop of line thru the the hook eye for a palomar knot, but almost ;D!!! As Ever, skillet

Line stretch is not a evil thing
Most of the water I fish is pretty skinny and normally I don't have to cast into the next county. I've been fishing with reg. Stren for longer than I care to admit. It seems like I know just about how it is going to do in any given situation, because I've probably already been there at least once... As Ever, skillet BTW justfishin, I think I remember that you don't care for Stren so I'll CMA ;D

new to the site, here's my rig...
I've bought 2 Bionic Blades from BPS when they went on sale. That puts them in your price range. IMHO for that money there isn't a better rod . Also wanted to say WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet

Brush hogs and Baby brush hogs
The 2 of them are my favorites in soft plastics (Green Pumkin). IMHO larger bait=larger fish. I don't mean large fish won't hit smaller baits and sometimes you have to downsize your baits to even get a bite. As mattm said the larger of the 2 seem to weed out some of the smaller fish messing with it. Fishing them in the same ponds and small lakes under pretty much same conditions, I have caught larger fish on the reg. Brush Hogs more often... As Ever, skillet
