  1. We got AOL when first got a computer and didn't know a whole lot about them (my wife does now, I don't :-[). Fixin' to get a new Dell and wish we could come up with a new provider that didn't cost an arm and a leg. We live out on the backside of nowhere and don't get cable (still have small hometown phone co.) or anything. Get Monday's radio programs on Tuesday ! It would have to be some kind of DSL and they are pretty expensive from what we've found ... As Ever, skillet
  2. Refer back to the story of the old poodle ... As Ever, skillet
  3. Have a friend, my age, who has "age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill" on a Tshirt... As Ever, skillet
  4. When I first started bass fishing and using sb, I always added part of a 6" worm as a trailer. A lot of times the fish would grab the worm. I don't normally use a trailer hook for fear of hang-ups. I quit using the worms and it didn't seem to change the bite at all... As Ever skillet
  5. I use Stren and it comes with an opening in the side that you thread the line thru. Have never had kinks doing it this way. Have read on here some folks lay the line on the floor and take some turns on the reel. Drop the rod tip toward the line and if you get twists, turn the line over. Hope I've got that right, like I said I've always used Stren... As Ever, skillet
  6. This is the first message board of any kind I've ever joined. IMHO: It seems the computer must be the worst form of communication ever developed when it comes to anything but black and white, yes and no type of ideas. Without facial expressions or voice inflections a lot of things come across, at best, dead flat. Jokes and humor can come across as condecending or even mean. That's really too bad because those 2 things help make us human or almost human anyway ... As Ever, skillet
  7. I don't do well with "favorite band" questions :-[usually. If someone could pin me down to just one, it would have to be Pink Floyd. Have never seen them live :-[, to my sorrow. Have heard amazing stories from friends who have!! Haven't heard anything about Waters coming close to Memphis this time... As Ever, Skillet
  8. WELCOME to the forums!! As Ever, Skillet
  9. I fish small ponds a lot, depending on how often you are fishing and how "small" the pond is, they could be getting too used to the bait you are using. The spawn works entirely off the temp, so different time for different parts of the country. I think moving to deeper (relative term for small ponds) water is a temp thing too... As Ever, Skillet
  10. Really nice fish and WELCOME to the forums!! I'm probably not the one to say this (have never posted a pic :-[) but at the top of this page LBH has a post about resizing your pics... As Ever, Skillet

With a jig (and plastics), the moment I feel anything different (or see line move in different direction), I drop the tip of the rod (taking up slack) and set the hook! With plastics (not often jigs), if you let them swim off, you stand the chance of them swallowing the hook or spitting it out . Man, when you type no better than I do, it sure takes a lot longer to type it than do it ... As Ever, Skillet
  12. A whole lot of what we "discuss" on here boils down to personal preference. What Marty said about "hook with a gap at least double the diameter of the plastic" sounds pretty good to me. Not too long ago I changed over to Gammi EWG #2 #3 #4 and (for me) that just about covers everything... As Ever, Skillet
  13. Sure glad Marty could help you with that. I live in TN and never heard of them. Will say WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, Skillet
  14. If you're gonna get in trouble for something, this was a durned good reason . Have gotten in trouble for a heck of a lot less good reason ... As Ever, Skillet

It seems like when the STRESS level starts rising for some folks (myself included ), it becomes a race between how fast the stress rises or the self control drops and they feed off each other. You've done it before, do it again! Take back the control ... As Ever, Skillet
  17. I had always had a problem with the drag settings, "is this too heavy? is this too light" and then ReelMech replied to an earlier drag question with his same response. I started setting my drag lighter and using my thumb on hookset and have found it to be one of the best tips I've tried !!! As Ever, Skillet
  18. That's a long row to hoe Muddy ! I am really glad for you, my friend ... As Ever, Skillet
  19. WELCOME to the forums!! Guilty of being long-winded myself at times :-[ As Ever, Skillet
  20. RnR27, My wife makes cloth dolls and does a lot of sewing for people. She always has 5 or 6 pair of hemostats lieing around, so I "liberated" a pair for the cause. They fit in your back pocket great, are strong and stainless steele (won't rust). You can get them where sewing supplies are sold, even some Wal-Marts... As Ever, Skillet
  21. Just bought a Boogee Bait (a first for that type of bait) and as long as those legs are was wondering about fish short striking it. As someone said above, there are days when they want those long legs. Sounds like a rock and a hard place :-?... As ever, Skillet

Common sense or not, the goverment should not have the right to legislate itself the power to play Mommy and Daddy > As Ever, Skillet
  25. Here in the South they stick the name "bream" on all of them. I always liked that bluegreen color of those lines coming from it's mouth. Around here there is a fish that's called a gogleeye. It looks like a cross between a bream and a bass. They are colored like a bream, shaped more like a bass and have a big mouth. Also have those colored lines around their mouths. As Ever, Skillet
