  1. Congratulations on graduating. Sounds like a good major in todays world. Study hard and have fun (don't overdo on the study hard or have fun )... As Ever, Skillet
  2. ;D ;D Thanks!! I needed this... As Ever, Skillet BTW When I was in the service, Raul, all the ladies of the evening would have said "You No. 1 butterfly GI"
  3. Thanks RW (as the light bulb goes on over my head :),sounds so simple when someone else says it. Have always used mono myself and probably will on baitcasters (don't have to put up with anything like justfishin is talking about) but thinking about #6 on spinning gear... As Ever, Skillet
  4. I have always been a FAN of thick (1 1/2) NY Strips!! All the stores are selling strips but they're not NY Strips :'(, cheaper but not near as good. When it comes to steaks, I'm pretty much a less is more than enough person. Original Weber grill, salt and pepper, HOT fire and if anything else maybe wet mesquite chips. Seared really well on the outside and rare in the middle... As Ever, Skillet
  5. Muddy...The Man...The Mook 8-) As Ever, Skillet
  6. RW, In another post you were talking about lrtting your line to trail behind the boat (Spinning) to get rid of twist. Doing mostly bank (you do a lot too) fishing I don't have that option. Ya'll were talking above about weakening the line with kinks on BCs. Does this come into play using #6 on spinning because of twists? As Ever, Skillet
  7. Can't help much with your question (no experience with that reel). BCs aren't the easiest thing to learn, after 30 years I still have professional overruns ;D. Now, I just don't have to cut ALL my line off to get rid of them!! They are well worth learning to use. Also, WELCOME to the forums!! As Ever, Skillet

It must be a case of, to each his own. I feel pretty much the same as most of ya'll about just being on the water . I've got friends that golf and they say the same things about being on a course. (fixin' to get in trouble with the golfers :'() I have never golfed but I can imagine losing it and wrapping each an every club in the bag around a tree. They probably feel the same way about fishing... As Ever, Skillet
  9. If you're asking this: I think the level wind basically sits in 1 spot and you hear a clicking sound everytime the stop (don't know if that's the right word :-[) passes it. They should replace the level-wind whether it's been more than a year or not. The paper work you received with the reel has the address. You pay freight there, they pay it back to you. Pack it REALLY WELL!!! As Ever, Skillet
  10. Avid, Don't know about other folks, I'm sold on the idea that a certain bait is better than others of the same brand... As Ever, Skillet
  11. LAO162, If you do take the plunge, be sure and let us know all the particulars. I for one would be interested. REALLY miss that rod :'(and have never forgiven the above mentioned dog As Ever, Skillet
  12. Muddy, My Daddy allways told me I'd go blind, and I'll be durned if I didn't have to start wearing glasses As Ever Skillet
  13. I didn't know prices jumped that much from a 14 volt to an 18 volt, haven't shopped for one in a while. Actually came back on after thinking over what I said earlier about an 18. Most of the time, I can drive a 3" screw thru the back of a cabinet into a stud and set the screw with a 14 volt. Pay close attention to the first phrase in that sentence "Most of the time"and I have been doing it longer than I care to admit. Lots and lots of experience! I will be the first to admit that I'm by tools the way Raul is by fishing equiptment ;D If the tool was just going to be used for household type things, I would say definitely a 14 volt or smaller. Useing it for a deck, think hard about an 18. I remember your post about taking on the job as Mr. Mom. If it's not in the budget, it's not in the budget. Been there, done that and bought the t-shirt (really) As Ever, Skillet
  14. That is so bad on so many different levels! My thoughts are with the family. When I worked on the rivers we would get calls on the radio, from the Coast Guard, to be on the look-out for "floaters". Folks that didn't make it. Mostly commercial fishermen and they never had PFDs. It is usually such a preventable tragedy... As Ever, Skillet

WELCOME to the forums!! Like Catt said "there's 2 or 3 people around here that know something about catching bass". I'm just not one of them :'( As Ever, Skillet
  16. The OCD is fixin' to kick in ! Everything from joining this forum, shopping for baits, rigging up for the next day, getting up that morning, being on the lake, wondering what I did wrong to thinking FINALLY, I got it right ;D... As Ever, Skillet
  17. The way you worded your post (Cephkiller's answer is a good one) no such animal :'( As Ever, Skillet
  18. AT LAST ;D, a post I don't feel like I have to start out with IMHO! I have done a lot of cabinet work and have owned or used probably all of them. As Tim (The Toolman) Taylor says "bigger is always better!". The folks that make battery driven tools have you between the Devil and the deep blue sea on 2 counts. First the batteries go bad whether you use the tool or not (last longer if used regularly). Second the durned batteries are so expensive to replace you might as well go buy another drill! I would think you could get an 18 volt from any of the home improvement stores for that price. Drill, 2 batteries, charger and case. Go take a look at them and see which one feels better in your hand... As Ever, Skillet
  19. "lack the education and wisdom to disagree without becoming angered" Which is more than likely the reason he had the foresight to make these rules in the first place. IMHO I wouldn't want it to be anyother way... As Ever, Skillet
  20. WELCOME to the forums!! IMHO the strike to hook-up rate is pretty dismal with soft-bodied baits, but you just can't resist useing them for the heart-stopping strikes and the ones that do get stuck ;D As Ever, Skillet
  21. Had a Daiwa 5'6"M for a number of years (got it new in 1982). IMHO It was great!! Was as sensitive as graphite, maybe a little more. Here's what I thought was so good about them, it was nowhere as stiff. After joining here, I read where they couldn't take the abuse of graphite. Like I said I had mine for a number of years and never had a problem and I'm not near as careful with my rods as I should be. The reason I don't still have it, we got a new dog and he ate my rod all down to the handle :'(! Iasked the gods of fishing to make boron splinters to come out in bad places ;D. Did no good >. Read from someone's post that if they had worked out the problems with boron, we wouldn't have graphite... As Ever, Skillet
  22. I don't know if it is a regional thing or not. Here in the South, a lot of folks put dill pickles in tuna fish salad, chicken salad and potato salad (myself included). Would rather have sweet relish on the above mentioned hot dogs. Different strokes etc. etc. As Ever, Skillet
  23. Like Fishing Doug, I took your advice about learning to use your thumb to assist the drag and things are a lot simpler now for BCing. I guess other than trying to play with the drag (with a fish on ) with spinning gear is about it or am I missing something that's really apparent :-/ As Ever, Skillet
  24. My daughter and I were talking not too long ago and she said how hard it is to buy for some folks. She said she was lucky when it came to me "just pick up a gift certificate from Bass Pro". I know it doesn't sound as personal but everyone is happier this way... As Ever, Skillet
  25. Reminds me of a sign I had hanging in my shop... Once as I sat musing sad and lonely :'(, a voice came to from out of the gloom saying "Cheer up, things could be worse! ". So, I cheered up and sure enough, things got worse. :'( Not trying to make light of your situations. Just a little (very little) humor ... As Ever, Skillet
